It is so crowded (yesterday and today). I was hoping it might not be too crowded and actually some people (locals) have told me this was not that crowded. LOL. We waited 1.5 hours for fireworks last night. We did MM today and RAN to peter pan and had about 30 people ahead of us. It was crazy but I love that ride! We got about 6 rides done during MM in this order.... Peter Pan, Dumbo, Toad, Alice, Pinnochio, Snow White. Matterhorn (which we went to do after Alice) was too long so did not wait for it. Hopefully we will do Matterhorn at some point tomorrow. We plan to spend the day at DCA though most of the day. Anyway, just wanted to let you all know the crowd status. BUSY!!!!

I agree, it is pretty busy. Sunday and Monday weren't so bad, but yesterday was crowded. Expecting the same today.

We were there on Saturday and left on Tuesday...yep, crowded. Mornings weren't so bad, but still lots of people. We never did do Matterhorn, never got there when the line wasn't at least 50 minutes. The kids aren't patient enough for that kind of wait.

I can imagine it will only get worse for the next few weeks....of course I'd go back tomorrow if I could, crowded or not :)

I will say the Matterhorn is a line that moves pretty quick. When we were there a few weeks ago they had the Fantasyland side open only. The line was all the way to the back of the mountain. We waited 20-25 minutes. If both sides had been open...we probably would have waited only 15. I will admit the line can be pretty intimidating...but it does move rather quickly.

Spring Break has started for parts of Canada, Utah (I think) and many US colleges.

Yep, the "off season" is done.

To make matters worse, there is a huge volleyball tournament in the area this weekend, so expect crowds to get heavier tomorrow through Sunday.

Also, the UC's are finishing up finals (woo, quarter system) and will most likely descend upon DLR near the end of the week.

"Spring Break" lasts about 5-6 weeks at DLR. People always look only at So. Cal schools vacations, but it starts this week with what I posted above, moves into next week with the UC schools, as PirateEmery said, (and MANY other schools too). Some schools now have a mid-semester break that is 2 weeks. April 12th is Easter. Many schools will have the week before off, others the week after.

Pirate - love your signature pic!

Yep...just returned. We did DCA on Sunday afternoon and DL on Monday. Both were crowded. We cut out after lunch...long long lines....

I've kinda accepted the fact it will be super busy when I'm there next week. Oh well, crowded or not crowded, it's still better than being at work.

This was one of those pictures that just... fell into place. We started off both looking at the camera, then there was a countdown 3, 2, 1...

But at the 2 second warning, the Captain quickly looks at me, hoping full well to turn it into one of those character photos where the character is doing something clever and the tourist is looking at the camera like a doofus. Well, knowing full well that I couldn't trust Jack, I expected something of this nature and changed my pose at the 1 second notification so that I was looking at him out of the corner of my eye, obviously not letting him out of my sight. The result was a hysterical character photo that I probably can never duplicate ever again.

Once you've been there enough, going to Disneyland isn't really for the rides, but the sights and sounds. I'm going down tomorrow through the weekend (my sister's in that volleyball tournament that I mentioned above), with not that many aspirations. I think I'm kinda merch-ed out, so I think I'll just charge up the old camera and just take pictures...

I didn't want to mention it, but I've basically just run out of good pictures to post in the Picture of the Day thread...

craaaaaaaaaaaaap!

We're going on Friday and we won't be getting into the park until after opening, around 11am. Should I expect to not ride anything?

Get you fast pass on early. And hit what you really want to do first.

Oh, I definitely will. I'm actually going to see if I can convince my mom to leave earlier. Oh say... 6am ;) :lmao:That way I will arrive at the parking garage at 7:30 (latest hopefully) and make it for rope drop but I doubt my mom wants to get up at 5am on her birthday. I'll ask if we can leave at 7am. That way we will get there a little after opening, pop in and get some fast pass for either Indiana Jones Thunder Mountain. My mom doesn't do Splash (thankfully) or Space (:sad2:)

I'm hoping to get my dad to give me the $25 to upgrade her ticket to a 2-day parkhopper.

If she does can I use the 2nd day on her park hopper or do they put her name on it?

We just got back from DL today and CA yesterday. Yes, it is definitely crowded, but we were able to do alot. Today we rode Small World, Space Mountain, Star Tours, Autopia, Matterhorn, Indiana Jones, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain (twice), Winnie the Pooh, Buzz Lightyear, Jungle Cruise, POC, Haunted Mansion, Snow White, Pinnochio, and we went on the train, Monorail, and Saw Honey I Shrunk the Audience, we had a wonderful time.
All you really need to do is have a stategy. Take advantage of the fastpass, you can ride whatever ride you have a fastpass for anytime after the return time, it doesn't have to be within that hour. The only issue is you can only have 2 fastpasses at a time, and you can only get the second one 2 hours after the first one.
Also, eat an early lunch and dinner. We ate lunch at 11, and hardly had a wait, with lots of tables to choose from.

It was very crowded, especially walking from place to place, but we were able to do everything we wanted to and really enjoyed ourselves.

This is a prime example of how crowds don't ruin a rider's day. As long as you know the "strategy," you'll be fine.

Wake up early, get in line before the park opens, rush to your favorite attraction and ride it, go grab a fastpass for something then wait in line for something else. Rinse and repeat... and be sure to take breaks whenever you are feeling tuckered.

Something I really suggest, as RanCan says above, shift your eating schedule. Early lunch and try a 4'o'clock dinner. Trust me, it helps. :thumbsup2

Oh, but if you're going tomorrow through Sunday, don't bother. The crowds will be immense and you won't have any fun. I'll tell you how it was... :rolleyes1

:rotfl2:

I agree with that..I gave up the commando thing long ago and can be quite happy having a churro and people watching.

I thought we were in a depression..what's with all the happy travelers?
