I am American Idol challanged...

there I admitted it, I don't watch American Idol. Please tell me that I am not the only one.

Same here, everyone in the office talks about it here too. It used to be the same way with Survivor, another show I never watched. If I had to choose between the two I would pick American Idol.

Eh, I was like you until last year. I vowed I would never ever watch any reality TV show. Then I made the mistake of tuning in to see the auditions. That was it for me. I was taken in by the dark side and I've never looked back. The worse thing is that AI begot Skating with Celebrities and So You Think You Can Dance. There's no end!!!

Now each Tuesday I wander around the house mumbling only X more hours until American Idol.

I've watched a few episodes, but I never really got into it. I've never understood the hype of reality TV. It's just not for me.

I dont watch it, I stopped watching after last season's. I'm never home in the evenings so I rarely get a chance to watch tv and I don't really like watching tv. I just think it's gone on for way too many seasons(how many American Idols can there be!?) and I lost interest after Bo Bice(he was the best!)

Ahh, you're what we call "the others." JUST KIDDING!!! My goal in life is to get my dad hooked, but he has yet to convert. At least this season he knows one of the contestants ("the grey haired guy") so that he's not completely clueless when people talk about it at work. I give him buzz phrases like "it'll come down to Chris and Taylor" or "Katharine is the strongest girl in the competition" and he has something to contribute. That being said, if you ever need a good water cooler buzz phrase, you can always come to me.

nope, don't watch. no desire to. my dh loves it, although has been too busy to watch this season. he tried to get me to watch some of it in the past, but I never lasted 10 minutes. awful show. just not my thing I guess. fine by me...I've got plenty of other shows (sopranos, lost, amazing race, the office).

I am a total reality TV junkie (Survivor, The Bachelor, Amazing Race, Top Model, Project Runway, Top Chef, etc, etc, etc), but I just can't get into American Idol.

I like the other shows because of the challenges, the mind games, and the "fly-on-the-wall" voyeurism aspect. Fascinating, as Spock would say. I tried to watch AI, but it just seems so... dull. No big twists, no fun trash talk, just mediocre songs sung by pretty good amateur singers, judges who don't really have any say in the matter, and looooots of filler.

apopogies to folks who love the show- I just don't get it .
