I went online and found our airfare for like 204.00 from chicago to Orlando for the 6 of us. I know if I buy it online I save about 20.00 a ticket in service fees or whatever you want to call it.

I have never bought airline tickets on line and I am kinda leary only because I know when I see a travel agent i get actual paper. this will not give me paper in my hand persay.

I have a visa gift card that i plan to use to buy the airfare. I know people do it all the time , should I have any real concern ??

thanks !

Booking online is no problem whatsoever.

Even with a travel agent, paper tickets are rare these days. If you book online you will get an email receipt/confirmation and/or you can print that same information from the airline's Web site. Boarding passes are no longer issued in advance anymore (at least not on the airlines I fly), although you still have an assigned seat on the airlines that do assigned seating, so that's not any paper you'd get from a TA like in the past.

You can retain the receipt/confirmation for your records, but I haven't been asked to produce those documents in ages. Usually you'll just need to know where you're going and your name, and be able to produce ID for the adult members of your group in order to get your boarding passes at the airport. You usually can check in online in advance (roughly 24 hours in advance in most cases) and print your boarding passes then. If you do that, your boarding passes and ID will suffice.

Thanks ! I have not flown in 6 years so I know times have changed;) .

Atleast I can print something out to show I purchased tickets. kinda scary handing money in that sum through a computer, when you don't typically do that.

I am sure the airfare will drop once I buy them that seems to be my luck with things like this:upsidedow

Was that 204 each or for all?

Most likely each. If it is for all we would be taling like $35 each!

For the OP, I buy stuff online all the time. My airline ticket purchases online have been very easy. After you purchase, print out your info. Then you can log on to the airlines website any time you want to check on your ressie. I recommend doing this often just to make sure flight times have not chaged. Depending on which airline you are buying with, you may have to reselect your seats if the flight or aircraft change. It doesn't hurt to be diligent when you have pending flights. I have 3 pending flights right now for May, June, and July, which I check daily to make sure all if good.

Have a great trip!

can you get a refundable ticket around that price? that way when the pricing comes out on the budget airlines you can take advantage it.

I don't think you can I think those are a lot more. I checked with the United site and it seems they will give a credit if my flight drops by atleast 5.00. I have to watch for it however;) .

I looked to day to see about credits and noticed that my return flight is no longer avaliable. I see all the evening flights that leave at like 6pm left. I got lucky buying when I did . if we would of had a 6pm deptarture and arrive at like 8pm we would have yet another 3 hour drive home!
