I just hit the disboards and see that he BLT is now available. If I am reading that correctly, why did we DVC members not recieve an information packet as we did for AKV??? I thought new DVC Properties were initially announced to DVC members. I feel jilted ...

I would imagine something is in the mail...DVC members do have a 2 week "priority" window to add on at BLT before sales open to the general population. I think it is until 10/5

Lots of DVC'ers received emails the day of the announcement. I've read some received regular mailings. Many didn't get anything. :sad2:

The information is also available on the DVC Member's site. Sales begin tomorrow - September 21, 2008 - for members only. General sales begin on October 5, 2008.

Emails were sent to members of record this past Tuesday. You might make sure your email address is current thru the Member's site.

I just received a brochure in the mail today. I am curious why there are many DISers who say they have already purchased but I thought the BLT doesn't start selling until tomorrow.:confused3

Their guides just took their order (basically)...the actual purchase will be done tomorrow.

From what I heard, when the Travel channel moved the date up to Sept. 18 to air the Disney Vacation Club special, it forced DVC to announce BLT and give out as much info as they could in a rush. Since the original airing wasn't going to be until early October, it put them in a pinch to get things finished, mailed, etc., so we didn't get the packets before the announcement since it was moved up suddenly. Sunday, Sept. 21 is the first day that the sales start so everyone who has pre-ordered will have their credit cards billed on Sunday.

I thought DVC tried to do a good job:
  1. Email announcement
  2. Mail announcement
  3. News item on Member web site
I'm not sure how much more they could do? They couldn't make phone calls to the hundreds of thousands of members, could they? :confused3

I didn't get anything, and I have in the past. I just checked my email and it is current. I'm not upset about it as I bet all my current news from the disboards!

Just to echo one of the other posters-- check your email address on Member Services website. I have been a member for 6+ years and did use the the website frequently but never checked my email address. They had it set to a default- something like mickeymouse @xxxx.xxx. Needless to say I updated last month!:)

I did not receive an email, although I have in the past. I did receive the booklet in the mail yesterday though.

My email is correct in my profile. In fact Disney (and MS I believe) verify that address every time I call.

Put me in the 'nothing' category.

Same here but I just checked my preferences and noticed Disney Vacation Club E-mail communications including special offers was not checked. Not sure how this happened but probably explains why I didn't get an email.

I forgot to mention that all 3 boxes were checked on mine, so that doesn't explain it.

Some states have very strict laws about timeshare solicitations -- perhaps Disney couldn't send brochures/emails/phonecalls to some people in some places.

I got my info in the mail for BLT yesterday (Saturday the 20th)

Checked my Profile box's as well......AND they were unchecked as well:confused3 ...
rechecked them all, which we did when we registered the 1st time? We'll see:)

I got an email the day of the announcement and a nice brochure via snail mail yesterday. Make sure you are set to receive emails and you shouldn't miss any big announcements. Also, check the member site frequently. The info was up on the member site since the 16th or 17th of Sept.

I did receive an e-mail which did alert me to the availability of BLT. My wife and I have just returned from Disney 1 week ago and a DVC agent in the park told me that there was a big meeting Monday and likely BLT was the reason for them meeting. So I kept a eye and ear out.

I actually think this was one of the better handled DVc announcements of late....we received an email and the website had good details up quite quickly. In the past we were always complaining that the website took so many days to get updated. This was much better.

I guess no matter how much things improve there will always be complaining, just the way of the world...
