When we go to WDW we always take along a toaster. This time we are flying. Has anyone packed a toaster lately?

I have this vision of my bag being x-rayed, someone spotting a small square box with wires and well, you know the rest.

What do you guys think? Maybe I should just mail it?

Not a good idea. Here is my suggestion, you are going on vacation, leave the toaster at home, if you absolutly need to eat toast, every hotel even the Grand Floridian will be able to toast you some bread. You can also buy it from the resturaunt, Im sure toast isnt that expensive.

People take all sorts of electrical devices in luggage in this wired age; a box w/ wires isn't all that weird.

They will open the bag, of course, but if you are afraid that they will assume that it is a bomb and just detonate your suitcase as a precaution, why not just put a sticker near the bag fastening that says, "This bag contains an electric toaster."

I label bags this way anytime I know that there is something in it that will make the screeners suspicious. I brought a tent once, and put a sticker on the outside that noted that there was a tent w/ metal poles inside. I figure it has to be easier for TSA to find the item in the image if they are warned about what they are probably seeing.

I take a toaster with me when we go to Disneyland, as it's so nice to be able to toast a bagel or pop-tart to eat in the room. I've just left mine in the original box and have not had a problem checking it through in my luggage. Toaster is only $6.25 at Wal-Mart - I used it for 2 trips, and when it didn't fit back in my luggage after the 2nd trip, I just left it there. Just bought another one for my next trip, and expect to make 2 trips with it again!

We must have the same toaster! Mine has made two trips to WDW and has been on a couple of other vacations. It even went camping once! It is still in the original box.
