Hi everyone...I was just wondering if I could get some opinions on bridesmaids dresses. I am using make a match from davids bridal. The skirts will, be black and the tops apple red. I want the girls to pick anytop they want (whatever is most flattering!) but I want them to all have the same skirt. First decision id tea length or long. Ilike the tealength because they will get good use out of them...they are definitely something they can use again! I like the longer because they seem a bit formal and I like that since our reception is going to be in the evening.

If I decide long then there two different styles to choose from! :confused3 and I thought buying my dress was going to be hard...geez. I would really like opinions other than the girls because I am sure they will probably say the tea length because they will want something shorter but i just want what will look best....I NEED YOUR HONEST OPINIONS PLEASE lol! so here are the options:

this is what the tea length would look like

Yea! Finally my degree comes in handy! First, consider what body-types all of your bridesmaids have. If thery are all very different then it may be hard to pick "B" because of it being a straight cut, and "C" fits in this category as well, it's a bias cut that will be form fitting through the hips. The most universally flattering would be an A-line, your choice "A" as well. But they are all beautiful together! Hope that helped a little with your decision.

I think all three are lovely.. you very classy and you can't go wrong, IMO!

I will say though, I was a bridesmaid two years ago and our dresses were the mix and match kind of David's Bridal. I will say that we all ended up choosing the tea length skirt because its more A-line and thus more flattering to many different shaped bodies.

I personally am pretty hippy and I know that choices B and C would look awful on me. I would go with Tea Length unless all of your girls are very tall and slender. I am going to be my sister's MOH and then my wedding will be a year later so we have been bridesmaid dress shopping online like crazy :) Do we have a thread on here yet for all bridesmaid dresses? We need one :goodvibes

I personally would go with either of the long skirts for the more formal look. I think tea-length skirts are better suited for morning and early afternoon ceremonies. Your bridesmaids will be able to reuse the long skirts too--they are usually pretty comfy to wear and look extremely nice if you're going to the theater, a black tie event, etc. As to which skirt is better (A or B), that depends on what your dress looks like, IMO.

My bridesmaid dresses are going to be tea length, so you know what my pick would be. My bridesmaids really like them too!!

I'm also using David's Make-a-Match--I ended up letting the girls pick their skirts as well as their tops. About half picked tea length and half picked the long skirt--with the tall, willowy ones being the long skirt takers.

I like number 3 because of the evening. But A is cute also :) For me I have tried on both and I really like the long one in C better and I have hips :)

I work in a bridal shop and spend all day advising on this.....

Fabric is your most important factor. From the pictures it looks like #1 and #3 are chiffon while #2 is satin. Chiffon is very pretty and looks soft, especially if we are talking about Florida here. Lots of soft flutters in the wind....(aww..sigh) BUT, chiffon is not forgiving to girls with problem areas. Your larger girls or pear shaped girls will not look as good in chiffon as they would in a satin skirt.

So, I would suggest #2, unless all your gal pals are evenly built. If you still would like to have them in tea length, just have the long skirt hemmed at the knees instead of 1" off the floor.

I like the first one with the tea-length. I'm using a tea-length dress from David's Bridal. Initially, I was looking at the Make-A-Match, too. One of thebig things the girls' didn't want the full length skirts for was because they weren't as flattering in the back. Ahem. The tealength is more A-Line and "hides" a bit more was what they collectively decided.

Be sure with tealength they know what length you want them to fall! We were at a wedding with tealength dresses and none of them fell remotely near the same length... it looked really sloppy. Teh shortes of the girls had the poor dress to her ankles. I told the girls between 4 and 5 inches below the knee cpa but to find what was most flattering with that general range. They all look so pretty standing in a row! :cheer2:

I would choose a long skirt since you are having an evening ceremony. Typically evening dictates more formal. Plus, the girls could always have their skirts shortened later on if they want to. I had floor length bridesmaids dresses, and two of the girls have since shortened them (one to knee length and one to tea length).

As far as the long skirts go, I think which skirt would look better depends on the body types of the girls. I think A might be more forgiving of someone who is hippy and B might be more forgiving of someone with a larger waist. Don’t stress—there won’t be a way to get a dress that hides everyone’s flaws. Just pick which one you like best—usually your gut instinct is best. :)

i like the second dress. i think it's really pretty.

I personally like the long skirts, especially if your girls are all different heights like mine. My sister kept not-to-subtly suggesting tea-length, but she's 5'5" or so, and my shortest was under 5', so...

granted, I wanted the girls to get something that they could wear again, and well, they'll probably NEVER wear their dresses again...ever...

oh well! LOL

good luck! I like long skirt B...

Well all of my bridesmaids are VERY thin (one is actually a model :faint: ...now if were only that lucky!) I say the biggest issue would be that two girls ar slightly bigger on top so that is why I decided to let them pick the top.....but the #2 may not be as comfy or flattering being that it it slim cut? hmmmmm gotta think some more lol

I would say to go with the long one since it is an evening wedding but let the girls pick which long one looks better on them. That way they will look good and you will have you formal evening wedding look.

I am in a Wedding in April & we are doing the Make a Match also. We were all going to go with the Organza tea length-we are making them knee length. But now the Bride wants us to each pick our own skirt also & we are now going from Peri to Apple.

I think that some of the tops look better with different skirts. I like the the plain strapless top with the silm skirt best. but i like the strapless kind of wrap top with the a-line skirt.

I like the second one (long skirt A) -- I like the straight line look as opposed to the looser looking skirt. The color combo is beautiful!

Hmmm...these are all interesting suggestions. So to you all think it will look OK if I say "OK you all have to wear long black skirts but you can pick which style and you all have to wear apple tops ..but you can pick which style" Do you think it is too much mismatching? I am just worried 3 of the girls will pick skirt 2 and only 1 will pick skirt 3 for example then it will look weird? maybe I should talk to them but I know them and they are all as indecisive as me lol!

I think as long as they have the same skirts and color top it will look fine. I was at a wedding about a year ago, and she let the bridesmaids pick their own dresses as long as they were pink, it didn't look bad but at the same time it was kind of distracting. Instead of just paying attention to the ceremony I kept getting distracted by what everyone was wearing, but then again that kind of happens to me a little too easily!
