I-75 Fun/different Hotel recommendation

Howdy. We will be driving from metro Detroit to Orlando and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a hotel for us to stay at somewhere between southern Ohio and Tennessee. I am looking for something other than a plain Jane hotel......perhaps something on the water.....or one with a spectacular view.....maybe something super modern looking.....or a place that kids will just love, ect. If anyone has any suggestion of a neat place to stay that is within 20-30 minutes off I-75, please let me know.

I can think of a few places.

1) The Wildwood Inn in Florence, KY. It boasts a tropical setting and a domed/indoor swimming pool. And if your budget allows it, the inn has a number of themed rooms. You can stay in a western-themed room. Or a speedway-themed room. Or a Statue of Liberty-themed room. Or you can stay in a normal room. It's up to you.

It's just off I-75, so it's right on your way.

2) Just north of Cincinnati is CoCo Key resort (hotel/indoor water park). There is also a Great Wolf Resort just north of Cincinnati. However CoCo Key is just off I-75 and Great Wolf Lodge is off I-71 (about a 20 minutes out of your way).

3) The Pine Mountain Lodge in Pineville (about 45 minutes off of I-75...Exit 29). It might be a little far for you. It's part of Pine Mountain State Park in Southern KY. It's a ways up the mountain. But the view is beautiful.

I can probably think of more places.

That's the one I would recommend only because I remember seeing signs for it along the way when going down I-75, since I don't remember anything about the other locations you mentioned.

Much as I love Pine Mountain (I live about 65 minutes away from there due west), that's a bit far for the casual driver to come off I-75.

I do second the recommendations of CoCo Key and Great Wolf.

I wouldn't say GW is more than 10 minutes off I-75. It can be reached via either exit 24 or 25 on I-71. If you have a GPS system, there are some nice roads to get you from north of the beltway on I-75 to north of the beltway on I-71 without having to get on the loop, and can save you 10 minutes or so in travel time.

But CoCo Key is really close to the interchange of I-75 and the beltway, so it is pretty convenient to get to. It also costs less than GW.

In downtown Cincinnati where I-75/71 both go through, there are numerous very nice hotels within easy walking distance of both Paul Brown Stadium and Great American Ballpark, if you happen to be there during a Bengals or Reds game. My favorite for this, though is staying at Embassy Suites across the river in Newport, KY, and then walking across the Purple People Mover bridge (formerly the US 27 bridge) into Cincy to watch games. Parking's easier across the river in KY.

In Lexington, there is a unique, but old hotel called Campbell House. It's in town, so it's probably about 10 minutes from I-75. Very stately "mansion" feel to it, and they have Tempurpedic mattresses there.

I'm a Kentucky native, and Cincinnati sports fan and visitor, so I'm always going to try to push those areas.

Nothing "on the water", as I-75 runs straight down the middle of Georgia and Florida.

I''ve taken the I-75 route a few times and can't think of anything out of the ordinary (as hotels go) from Atlanta to WDW.
