If you havent been through Kentucky in a while, they are still working on their I75 widening project all the way through. There are a few areas where its still 2 lanes, but its not too bad. Lexington is a breeze to get through, even at rush hour.
Tennessee isnt too bad either, unless you hit Knoxville at rush hour, then it can be a challenge. Dont remember much about Chattanooga, so probably not too bad.
Georgia wasnt too bad either, as long as you hit Atlanta at the right times. We went straight through around 10:00am without any troubles (although traffic was backed up for several miles coming back north!).
Unfortunately, going through Ohio still just plain sucks. The "fix" of the I70 and I75 interchange will be ongoing for another 2-3 years. Malfunction Junction is still in place (I75 and Rt. 4 in Dayton), but is being worked on. Just be patient going through Dayton - follow a semi if you have to. If it appears that you will be hitting Cincy during the afternoon rush hour, take 275 EAST around. Otherwise, you will be sitting in a parking lot for at least an hour, maybe more. It all depends on what time of the day you come through..
A couple of nice places to stop overnight along the way: Corbin KOA in KY, and Sweetwater KOA, just south of Knoxville...
