So here we are in February already!!

I ran this morning for the first time since Disney. Just a short 3.15 miles and they were s-l-o-w but the good news is...NO PAIN!! :cheer2: So excited. Now the trick will be to plan it out to increase speed and distance slowly so I don't hurt myself again.

Liz, there is snow. It isn't the best I've ever seen but we have it. And no worries on keeping up. This is a teaching session and I don't ski fast when teaching. Heck I don't ski fast when I'm not teaching. My SIL is looking for a ski race though...:rolleyes1 She is fast and she has perfect form. Me not so much.

I don't have anything planned for spring since that is softball season and then we move into competitive league. Joanne, I think the closest I will be to you this summer will be Mass but we are looking for a filler tourney and it may be in the Manchester/Concord area. I will keep you up on where we are. I am thinking about the Maine Half Marathon in September just to prime my training for the full in January.

Did I mention how excited I am for the full?? Actually excited for 26.2 miles. There is something wrong with me isn't there. And Liz, don't tell Patrick, but I am still considering the G word. :upsidedow

Lisa- let me know about the Maine Half- is this the one for women only (one one lucky guy). I may be convinced to do this!

Lisa -glad to hear you were able to run with no pain!! Take it slow as you get back into it.

registration for WDW next year opens on April 10th! I am leaning towards Goofy but we shall see.

As for me, today was a strength training day for me before tomorrow's 9 miler. I went and bought new shoes today as my old ones were just not cutting it anymore. Trying out the Mizuno Wave Creation 3's...we shall see how they are tomorrow!

LaurieI may join you for Goofy. I need the medal.

JoanneMaybe Disney needs the extra time to calculate the price increase! ;)

AFM.....so the enforced rest did nothing for me and whatever is going on with my hip/groin area . I am weighing going to the sports doc, but how to really describe what's going on and the answer I expect to get (rest, ad nauseum, and perhaps PT) and the inevitable expense have me thinking I'll just not bother. I may test it out for an easy run tomorrow. There's only so much statoinary biking one can do.

Hey Goofs!
Hoped to do a long run this weekend, but it just wasn't in the cards - Saturday was too busy, and DW left yesterday for a business trip, so I just did a short run last night. (I needed it, too - DD threw a rock at a neighbor kid and hit him in the head. She's still being punished for it.)

Wanted to make it up this morning. Original plan was get DS on the bus, get DD to preschool, run 10-12 miles while she is in preschool, come home. Instead, the plan became - find out toilet is leaking, clean up most of mess, get DS on bus, finish cleaning up mess, get DD to preschool, come back here to make sure that water is not still leaking and so forth. Already called a contractor - we were going to redo the bathroom anyway, it just got bumped up a few months. And finally got my run in as of a few minutes ago - the streak continues.

The current plan is for DW to run the Wine & Dine, then the family to go down around Turkey Day, and then DW and I to head down for marathon weekend so that I can run the Goofy in honor of my 40th b-day. Should still happen - as long as we don't have a major car problem or something.

Happy Tuesday!!

Maura - I totally understand but may not want to put it off too much longer.

Lisa - With the way the winter is going I figure you'll either have lots of snow or mud. I only ski in one and I've already done a Warrior Dash. :lmao: Oh and I'm teeeeelllllling........

I think the main reason for the delay in registration is they want to either sell out or max out registration on Princess, DL W&D and ToT first. They've got so many races so close together now plus the cost has people waiting longer to register I think.

AFM: temps dropped and it was damp yesterday so tossed in a Leslie tape and walked. Got Patrick to do it with me so he can work on coordination (his request) to move up to some of the cool P90 boxing stuff (which I rock at). :cool2: I may stink at alot of the other P90 moves but I can box. LOL

Hello Goofs and happy February!

Gearing up for my next 1/2 marathon on March 4th but not training like I should be because I just don't feel good. Lots of stomach problems since July and all tests have come back normal. I think my gastro dr is clueless and am looking for a new one.

Flowers are blooming here in FL since we've had such a warm winter so far, all of my plants are very confused!

Starting to plan our summer vacation...anyone have big plans this summer?

So we are in for ToT!!! Patrick found out about the Villains theme and wanted to run. I was then sure to let Lisa know so she can make plans cause we all know she wants to. :rotfl:

Temps here about to drop for the weekend (yay) so either going to be midday outdoor runs or on TM or Leslie DVDs. Bike still on trainer, too. <sigh>

As for summer plans, Patrick's work is moving offices over Memorial Day weekend so there will no travel from early May to at least mid June. We're looking at either an Canada/EC motorcycle trip or camping trip to Yellowstone in July. So much to consider for each. :surfweb:

Hey Goofs!

Only one more long run before the Princess half! I did 10.5 miles today and it was much better than my last couple of long runs. I exchanged my new Asics and went back to my tried and true Brooks. Looks like I now have "my shoe". I also skipped my strength workout yesterday and I think that also helped. I've been doing P90X on my non-running days and I think it might have caught up to me a bit. I'm not going to drop it completely, but I wanted to see if not doing it before my long run changed anything.

Now that I have some reinstated confidence about my race, I can move on and tackle my next dreaded task: figuring out what to wear!

:goodvibes Happy Sunday everyone. It has been a busy week here and today is a total down day for me. Reading over my chapters for next week and just chilling at home.

DS is sick...again...spent the night at a friends house and came back all stuffy. Hoping it was just the cat...

DD spent the weekend in Portland with her softball friends. Preseason friendships that turn to rivalries during the season. I think they were living it up before they are all on the field in a month.

As for me, I am running, walking, P90x-ing and power cleaning my house. I feel spring fever coming on and the need to purge the house. Went through my wardrobe and ditched everything that hasn't been touched in a year, doesn't fit or doesn't look good on me. I still need to go through my running clothes and pick out the stretched out, pinchy, restrictive stuff that looks great BEFORE you run in it. Going to try to swim some this week between school and work. One more week until February vacation. :woohoo:

Time to start menu planning. Smart people do it before Sunday but today is my planning day. Sit down with everyone's schedules, see when we will all be home at the same time and when there will only be 2 of us and plan meals accordingly. I find it helps keep me on track with my weight. Also trying to decide whether to renew my fitness trainer certification or not. It is 8 weeks of 8 hour days on Saturday which really cramps my time for running so it needs further thought. popcorn::

Have a super week Goofs and keep in touch!!! I'm doing my best to get one once a week, twice would be a bonus and more than that would just be a good week for me.

ToT...............:rolleyes1:teeth::maleficen

Hey there Goofs!!

been a super busy week for me with lots of stuff going on and not much working out!! It has been a little disappointing cause I was doing so good. Got back into today with a tough workout on the Xbox Kinect. I don't have anything going on this week so I plan to concentrate on my training. I have a half coming up on March 4th.

As for summer plans, I just booked 10 days at Animal Kingdom Lodge in August!! Can't wait! usually I only get to do short long weekend trips because of my work schedule, so it will be fun to go for a little longer. We also hope to get to Cape Canaveral and Universal while we are there too!

Glad to see some other Goofs planning on doing Goofy!

Hope everyone has a great week!!

Hey all,

Checking in......so I am still not running in an attempt to heal my strains, which are taking "old lady" amounts of time to heal. Been at the gym and in the basement on my bike and am just getting bored. Not training for anything, so no drama.

Good news, though....they finally confirmed my entry (and I'm sure chargedmy credit card) for New York marathon, so looks like that's a go.

SuzanneSorry to hear you're having GI troubles. I hope they figure it out soon.

Liz Your summer plans sound cool. I have none. Maybe try to get DH to do a cycling trip (besides his solo ones) or at least some local rides. And I keep eyeballing ToT even though it makes no sense for me to 'cause of NY.

I see many of you are doing P90X (no clue what it is). Makes me realize I need to work on my XT and strength work.

Anyhow, seems like things are going okay for most and it is already mid-February. So spring must be close by, right? Looks like the extra gear I bought to run with this winter will go unused.

Maura

The P90X guy- Tony was at the start of the half trying to get people motivated!

Congrats maura on getting into NYC! See you in November!

Lisa, Patrick and I worked out with Tony Horton on Thursday afternoon marathon weekend. It was an hour of Warrior Workout. Hard. Exhausting. Painful the next day.

I'd do it again.

Quick pop-in while I drink my coffee and ponder what to do for a workout today. Yesterday I decided to test out my legs and ran 4 miles. From first step, I knew. Groin pull still isn't healed. Two steps back.

Anyway, guess I'll ride a little and do the Vinyasa class at the gym.

Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday.

Maura

Siri sent me a reminder this morning:
"get off you butt and start running!"

Today is day one to start training for Boston's Run to Remember. I am running for the Alzheimers Association and for my dad.

Hey Goofs - quick popping in. The last week has not been a good one - I've been sick since about this time last week, more or less, and while I have kept up the daily run, I completely blew off the kettlebell class last week, and my long run over the weekend. Still kind of sick, but the kids have the day off from school, so while I may not get much rest, I won't have to do some of the extra running around and errands that would normally get done.

Good Morning Goofs!!

Quick fly by as I do not have the day off.

Didn't get in any runs over the weekend. Saturday we spent 4 hours wandering the auto show. So although I didn't run, I was on my feet the entire time and it was a 1 mile each way walk from parking to McCormick so wasn't a total loss.

Sunday was cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. I really should have gotten in something before starting it all but we ran out to pick up new garbage disposal (old one started leaking) and groceries and when we got back I just started on the other stuff.

Tonight will get in work out before dinner. May switch my run today for my cross from tomorrow if my knee is still sore tonight.
