I-26 Construction in SC- How Bad?

We are heading down to Hilton Head first weekend in June and we typically take I-77 south from Charlotte to I-26 and then drop over to 95. I noticed on the SC DOT site there is a large construction project now on I-26 that starts around the I-77 interchange. Should we avoid I-26 all together now or is it pretty much traffic flow as normal in this construction zone?

We just ran through there over Easter w/e. The construction is where they have cleared and are now leveling the median for lane expansion (it appears), in both directions. It's several miles long, with concrete barriers protecting the median, all along the work zone.
Oddly, while this was a slight slow down, it wasn't nearly as much of a time eater as a traffic snarl 25 miles up the road (wreck on the opposite side being cleared).

If I had to do it again, no I would not alter my route due to the construction zone. It wasn't that much of a slow down, due solely to the construction zone.

Thanks for the reply! Happy to hear pretty smooth sailing thru the construction area!

Just wanted to update- all went well on I26, no traffic, other then a couple of minutes on way back.
