We will be driving to WDW from Biloxi, MS in December. If anyone has any reports on the condition of 1-10, especially in regards to the area damaged by the hurricanes. Thanks in advance.

My parents live in Pensacola right near the I-10 bridge that was knocked out and they have told me that they have one of the two spans open. Basically they are rerouting east bound traffic over to the west bound side and running the one open bridge one way each way. It will be a little slow going but should be ok.

I know someone who drove over the bridge last weekend (Friday-early evening) and said it only took 25 minutes to cross the bridge since they re opened one side. From what I was told, the only slow down was from the people looking at the damaged bridge. I also know someone who drove over the bridge sometime on Sunday (probably late Sun. night) and was told there was no slow down at all. We will be driving to WDW in 5 weeks and I'm so glad we don't have to take the detour around the bay!;)

We drove over the westbound I-10 bridge in Pensacola last Friday around noon (10-15-01.)
Westbound traffic only added about 30min drive time for us.
However, the Eastbound traffic was backed up for miles and I would estimate that it would be an added 1.5hrs for that traffic.

We didn't drive eastbound on I-10 because we took an alternate route to avoid that traffic on our way to Orlando.

Just thought I'd share!

Thanks for the info. I didn't think about mentioning which direction my family/friends were driving when I reported in............they were both going to WDW so they were going eastbound and neither one had problems. When we leave for Disney in 4 weeks we are leaving a couple of hours earlier than we normally do in anticipation of a major slow down. We will probably be driving through Pensacola around 3ish so hopefully that will be before rush hour.
