I’m so excited only one week to go for my DCL Alaska cruise

Have you guys boarded yet? We are heading to Cabanas (I'm starving!). The Wonder looks amazing! We haven't been back since her last dry dock, so once we are done stuffing our faces we will explore the ship a bit. I can't wait for this trip to get started, Alaska is firmly set on my bucket list for many years now.

So what’s the first stop out of Vancouver? Or are you leaving from Seattle? Go on the excursion. Mind the bears.

leaving from Vancouver. Tomorrow is a sea day. Cabanas was great. First day always the best at cabanas.

How’s the WiFi? How much extra does it cost?
Should I get a satellite phone for use on board?

I'm in complete shock :oops:o_O:oops: Is the Wonder really just left on her way to Alaska????

Read post #44

If you're reading this thread because you look at New Posts and not because you know anything about cruising (that would be me, for example), please know that the posters on this thread are having a virtual cruise. DCL has suspended all operations through at least October 31, 2020.

I'm sorry it's another overcast day here in Vancouver but you should be dry for sail away (you're probably on deck right now for the party!). Sun will be out later this week and you will arrive back in Vancouver on Labour Day to HOT temps. Bon voyage!!!

i have to tell you with everything going on these days your cruise has made me smile! thanks for sharing what a great idea!! oh and one more thing......take lots of pictures lol:joker::joker::joker::joker::joker::dumbo::dumbo::stitch2:

Wi-fi works but is not high-speed [realistically, no streaming of videos, though I have managed to watch eg a brief news video]. Where you are physically on the ship also has an impact.

This blog post has info about the pricing: https://disneycruiselineblog.com/2014/04/connectsea-internet-data-plans-review/

This blog post has info about maximizing your use of the data plans: https://disneycruiselineblog.com/20...-cruise-lines-connectsea-internet-data-plans/ There are a bunch of settings you will want to set your device to / turn off in order to ensure your device is not sucking down data unnecessarily; otherwise it can eat up your data alottment in seconds or minutes !! You'll also want to ensure cellular, cellular roaming and cellular data are turned off before you turn on airplane more to ensure they don't get accidentally used if you switch out of airplane mode [unless you intentionally want one or more of them left on].

Note that if you sign up on the first day of the cruise you get 50 MB for free. If you are careful that can last you surprising long -- we did a B2B2B in December and got the 50 MB each leg and only ran out on the last day on one of the legs.

For our planned Alaska cruise, we figure between the free 50 MB and using cellular data in the ports we should be fine.

Also, you can access a few things for FREE using the free wi-fi on board, including the DCL website and small list of other websites [think things Disney owns]. Make sure you are NOT logged into the wi-fi and are just connected to the free wi-fi so you aren't using any of your "paid" data !!
