And this is why I don’t like to book online, which what I did an hour ago.

our 11 month window opened today, I tried to book 2/19/22 to 3/4. compu would only let me book one week instead of two. Not sure why.

Because you can only book 7 consecutive nights at exactly 11 months out. You can modify the reservation tomorrow to add the 8th night or wait until the remaining nights are within the 11 month + 7 days window and add all of them then.

so grateful for your information!

If you do a quick search, you'll see many Q&As on how to "walk a reservation" which is what you'd need to do in order to get the second 7 nights day by day.

There is no need to walk. This isn’t one of those situations.

It is simply someone who wants to book a 14 day stay and can’t do that because we are limited to 7 days.

Walking happens when you move it forward and drop days you don’t want. OP wants the days.

All they have to do is wait 6 nights and then modify to add another 7 and then can wait one more day to add the last.

Thank you, very helpful.

Now I’m confused. What I meant is that in order to get the additional nights beyond the first 7, she’d need to add one night each day from now on until she has the full 14 nights. Or are you saying that this won’t work and she must wait 6 nights? I mean, waiting 6 nights run the risk of those nights being booked by someone who’s arrive a few days after OP and book 7 nights from their arrival date.

She does not need to add one day at a time now that she has the room for the first 7. No one can swoop in and book before her because she has that room until her check out day.

She booked today 2/19 to 2/26. She is locked in until then In 6 days, on March 25th, she goes on and now modifies the trip to add 2/26 to March 4th.

Even when someone walks, you do not need to do it every day unless you only booked 2 nights. You just need to add days to the end the day before check out.

However without adding a night at a time, other people can be booking tomorrow for 2/20-2/27 and the day after, someone else might book 2/21-2/28 and so on. So when March 25th comes, there is the risk that those nights (2/27, 2/28, etc.) are sold out already, no? Hence why I was thinking it would make sense for her to modify her reservation each day to add one night.

No, it won’t happen that way. Think of it as actual rooms. Say there are 3 rooms. She booked Room 1 today. That means no one can book Room 1 until she checks out. They can go on tomorrow and book Room 2 or Room 3 if they are open, but Room 1 is hers right now for those 7 nights, The first night someone else can book her Room 1 is the day she checks out,

That is why she has to change it the 6th day so she extends her check out before Room 1 opens back up again.

It is the same thing when someone is walking. You only have to modify it the 11 month window from day before the check out.

Now, if someone was attempting to walk at 7 months, you might want to move it daily as an owner has a larger window, But, at 11 months, all you have to do is get it booked and the room is yours for however long you want it as long as it’s moved forward before the original check out day chosen.

Ah yes, of course! Never thought of it this way :) Thanks for the explanation. It makes sense now :D

This is helpful. I'm a new owner and our booking window opens tomorrow. I want to book 10 nights but now I see I can only do 7 online. So I book 7 then go in on day 6 and book the rest of the nights, correct?
If I call Member Services and happen to get through will they be able to book 10 days or still only 7?

I have my "Welcome Home" call scheduled for the 31st which will be my 6th or 7th day, but don't want to spend a lot of time waiting on hold before that. Until Friday night I had planned for an April trip then last week our kids' school calendars were released and we had to shift to a February trip so I got in just under the wire for 11 months.

It is only 7 nights no matter who books it. Since you are going only 10 days, you can go in 3 days later and add the rest, you don’t need to wait until 6...that is more for someone who wants more,

Basically, once booked, you just modify the trip and then change the dates adding to the end and finish the booking! You can always modify day by day, but it’s not necessary once you get the first 7!

Thanks so much! Glad I will have it locked in this week.

Yep, nothing to do with booking online. Can only book a week, then have to keep adding your days.
