Hypocritical Line Jumpers

I had a situation occur last weekend and it immediately made me think of the DIS. I was going to a baseball game and it was free jersey night. The jerseys had been rumored to be very nice (they were.. just too long!), so we knew it was going to be quite a line (and only the first 10,000 get them). We got in line about a half hour before gates opened and it was already pretty bad, but only like 500-1,000 people at most.

These people get in behind us and they're a bit on the noisy side (ok, very noisy). They're talking really loud and the guy is smoking in line (I don't think it was technically a no smoking area and I didn't say anything, but I think it would have been more polite if you're in line to not smoke, but it's your right to and that's really beside the point of my post).

So anyway, we start to move up and of course, a few folks decide to jump in line at the last minute. Well the people behind us were not having that at all, which I couldn't blame them for. They were yelling at the people who jumped into line a few people in front of us, from their spot behind us. It didn't bother me enough (since I knew everyone would get a jersey.. it was 10,000 and there weren't even close to that many there) but if it did, I would have just gone up to one of the employees to handle the situation.

My main issue them: they had been harassing the line jumpers ahead of us, when a few seconds later, they called there friends that had been at a bar to let them know we were going in and to hurry up over. There friends showed up at the last minute to jump into line. :rotfl:

It didn't upset me, but I immediately thought of the DIS and wanted to see what you guys thought of this.

Yeah, that's pretty hypocritical, almost to the point of being funny.

Yup.

The funny thing is that I was kinda on the hypocrites side, right up to the point where they let their friends cut.

Just glad I wasn't there. DD immediately goes into an asthma attack with cigarette smoke (her only trigger).

My only hope is that Karma catches up with them!;)

My wife is sensitive to smoke (and pregnant). Last week, we were in line at a local comedy club when the people behind us started smoking. She just left the line and waited for me at the front. No huge deal.

Yup, that was pretty hypocritcal.

I was at a tiny little Subway (sandwich store) a few weeks ago. There was one person ahead of me. I waited patiently for the one worker to serve her. As she was paying, a couple came in. The worker then came to me and asked for my order. The couple loudly started making comments to each other about people who don't wait their turn. They then decided they didn't have enough time to wait and left. Here's the thing... this restaurant is about 6 feet by 20 feet... They'd have to be blind not to notice that I was there when they came in! And when you go to a Subway at lunch time, wouldn't you expect to have to wait for at least one person in front of you to be served first? I suspect they were trying to bully me into letting them go first to save them 3 minutes in their lives. Instead I just ignored them.
