Hi all!
I'm a newbie here. I have searched the forum for this and still am unsure about a certain issue with the linen service.

We will be staying at Pop Century soon and my husband has a really bad skin allergy to scented detergents and scented fabric softeners. I asked the CM helping me at the reservation hotline and she didn't really know what to offer me to accommodate. She said they have a VIP Cleaning option and a latex free option.

Neither one of us knew what the VIP cleaning option entailed, but since he doesn't have any other allergies that seemed like it might be overkill. Basically she left a note on our reservation in a "miscellaneous" request area.

Long story short, do the resorts use scented detergents on the linens and towels? Is there an option for hypoallergenic if they don't have it standard?

Thanks in advance.

I do not know the answer, but maybe it would be a better option to bring your own sheets/pillowcases so you can be sure that they are scent free? If you do this, I would bring colored/striped/patterned linens so mousekeeping does not mistake yours for theirs and take them.

We just might. I have spoken to a second agent who found out that I can request a "double rinse" of the sheets/towels. That might do the trick.

Is it ever possible to talk to someone at the hotel who might actually know a thing or two about this issue?

I have the same problems but so far the bed linens are not too bad. I can't smell any scents. I do know I sent something else to be washed & said no fragrances & got back smelling to high heaven :( Had to send it back and still came back bad smelling (bad to me) When I got home & washed the clothes the washing machine over flow with too much soap & I didn't use any. Took me 15 washes to get the smell & soap out. Why it took so many washes I haven't a clue.

I do get special cleaning & when I get there I call housekeeping telling them not to use fragrances when cleaning.

You might be able to call & talk to housekeeping. Not sure about double washing as they just take the sheets off the cart unless they would separate them for your room. Good luck !

when you tried to call the phone number for the hotel you are actually talking to someone not even in florida. besides it is a housekeeping not front desk problem.

go on the disabilities board - there is person who you can talk. her phone number is on the dis board - she handles all the medical special requests.

remember you must take the room you are assigned because of his special needs - so don't try to change rooms - also make sure that room was not changed when you check in. (they can and do change people's room all the time)

I know you can request something, but in a situation like this, there's no way to know if you really received it until it's too late. Even the best of intentions on Disney's part can go awry, especially when you consider just how big the resorts are.

I also have this allergy issue and never depend on anyone but myself and my family to take care of it ... we always bring our own sheets and a towel or two so I never have to worry. That peace of mind is worth a lot to me! :thumbsup2
