The original is still a great ride, I'd rank that first. I'd put GG and HSM about equal. GG is a less intrusive overlay, you're still riding SM, but with additions. The timing issues for the projections are the same on both. On HSM you don't miss out on the GG hand from the back, but you still sort of catch everything as it moves off the screen. I really like the beginning of HSM where you round the corner, the familiar music starts, you go up the hill... But then for the rest of the ride it's just blaster sounds. Blaster, blaster, blaster screeching at you while every ship that's ever been in a battle in a Star Wars movie shoots constantly at nothing in particular. There is one cool timed TIE fighter projection, but that's it. Actually, a really cool thing that they did years ago was the RHCP soundtrack. It was just changing the song, but it was SM, just with a temporary soundtrack change. HSM could be better if they injected more of the SW theme music into the actual ride portion and less of just noise like they have now.
