I went to disneyland.com tonight looking for glad news, but I got sad news. The Hyperion Theater is scheduled to be down when I go in September. :worried: This wouldn't be so bad except I didn't get to see Aladdin in 2006 in DCA (I don't know why, we just missed it for some reason). I'm thinking they are probably ending the show?! :confused3 Anyway, I won't get to see it. :(

I don't think that Aladdin is ending. I think that it's just the off season and just like any other attraction, the Theater needs to go down for a little fixing up.

Our VIP tour in April confirmed that Aladdin will continue to play for a while since they just went through a lot of new hires for the show.

That's good that Aladdin is not ending. Thinking back, I think the Hyperion was closed for refurb last time in September too, so maybe it's just a September thing.

I'm crossing my fingers that the Matterhorn will not be under refurbishment during this time (I've never been on it).

Glad to hear Aladdin will be around, its a great show and can't wait to see it in Oct. hopefully.

I've heard that as part of the DCA rehab that they will be completely redoing the exterior of the Hyperian. They are supposed to be closing in the staging area(yay air conditioning!) and making it look like an old Hollywood theater. instead of just the goofy facade they put in the front when they ran out of money last time. So it may just be refurb or they may be starting that.

I hope Aladdin is still playing in 2011 or 2012 (we will probably wait for all the renovations before we go again--and I'm crazy with excitement for the Little Mermaid ride). Being a kid during the Little Mermaid/Beauty and the Beast/Aladdin period of Disney, I absolutely love the style of those movies and I was too old to get into all the Pixar stuff. I'm glad that they are retaining some of that in DCA with the Little Mermaid ride (although Cars Land sounds really cool  ).

I've seen rumors on other Disneyland boards saying Animagique from Disneyland Paris will replace Aladdin in a few years.

Can you explain what Animagique is like?

Darn--don't think I can make a trip JUST to see Aladdin. :(

It's a stage show with Disney characters.

Mickey and Donald are in a room teaching a drawing course. Between them, at the far end of the room, there is a door leading to the Cinematheque / Film Vault. Mickey instructs Donald not to open the door and then leaves. Donald decides that if he opens the door a little, Mickey will never know.
The door opens and in a flash of light, Donald is in the film vault. He then encounters scenes from various films including Dumbo, The Little Mermaid, and The Lion King.

You sound like me. I grew up on those movies. Well, around that time. I'm never too old for Disney though, and I :lovestruc the Pixar movies.

Yeah--I think Disney was going through their "Renaissance" at that time. Little Mermaid, Beauty and Beast, etc.--classic movies, just classic!

Hi
What a drag.............I'm going in Sept too. I heard they were just refurbishing it. I'm sure you'll have a fun trip though, after all it is Disneyland!!:)

I'm a little bummed about the refurb schedule for September:
Small World
Haunted Mansion
Hyperion
(likely) The Matterhorn

Especially since I have never seen/been on two of those attractions and have not been on the Haunted Mansion with my eyes open :cutie: yes, even when I went at 18!

The good trade-off is that *crossing fingers* the crowds will be light!

Hello all,

Where did you get the refurb schedule for September? Is the Matterhorn closed down for sure? :scared1: This cannot be happening. I have not been to Disneyland since 1995 and I was so looking forward on doing the Disneyland "only" rides :( Oh well.

Also, when I go on the Disneyland website and click the Sept calendar all i get are the hours but no shows whatsoever. Is this normal?

I am also curious where you found this refurb list? For the dates I am going in September, the disney site only mentioned Small world and Hyperion being closed nothing about either Haunted mansion or the matterhorn.

Don't freak out. These are no "official" lists, but only based on experience. Haunted Mansion usually goes down after Labor Day so they can install the Nightmare Before Christmas Holiday install. I don't know when it will re-open (maybe while I'm there September 15-19 :goodvibes )...but it does go down every year.

Matterhorn is just a guess. I don't have a tried and true list of refurbs (except Hyperion and Small World like everyone else), but I'm guessing that the Matterhorn will go down because it has gone down in September in the past. I'm also hoping that it is open because I've been to DL so much, yet have never had the opportunity to go on it (down for refurb both times I last went to DL, too young to go on it before that)!

We should get an updated, updated list on the DL website by July.

I am so diappointed that the Hyperion will be under refurb when we are there, we are visiting from the UK so it is such along way to come. We missed out two years ago also in September when it was also closed then.

Disneyland.com is currently listing small world refurb all through sept, haunted mansion until friday the 26th and gadgets go coatser through sept also. I really hope that the matterhorn will be open as we missed that last time too. Fingers crossed Hyperion will be open at the very beginning of Oct as we don't go home till the 3rd.
