hydration in extra hot weather

My ds who is 16 and is jtube fed and I will be going to DW in Sept. The other times we went he was still able to drink thickened liquids. The first year he drank my water with no problems and the 2nd I got Gator Aide for him. Now though he doesn't take anything by mouth although I may try some water if he's staring at my water bottle-as he did the first year. So, I need to try and get extra fluids into him in the heat. What is better: pedialyte or plain water? His companion and I have decided we'll likely do syringes of extra fluid every hour or so as he currently tolerates 30cc water flushes every 4 hrs.

I asked my pediatrician about keeping DS hydrated and she said to use 8 oz of pedialyte about 3 - 4 times a day. I would think that Pedialyte would be better than plain water but I would ask his Dr though.

I spoke with ds pediatrician today and he said that pedialyte would be best for him as he would likely need a number of electrolytes replaced given the heat and humidity. He said Gatoraide would also work. So I'll bring what pedialyte I can carry in our luggage and use gatoraide when that's gone.

I think that at WDW they sell "Powerade" and not "Gatorade", but they are basically the same, just different manufacturer.

Do you know the costs of the Powerade sold on site? Is it sold at the snack stands that take the snack credits from the ddp? My friend and I are trying to figure out if I should order some of it to be sent by a grocery delivery service that she's used before. We figured that it would likely be more expensive in park. But if it isn't then I'd be happy just purchasing it as we need it each day. The pedialyte which I get free of charge from our medical supplier is in 1 litre bottles so is heavy. I don't want to carry more than I need to as I'm also carrying a weeks worth of tinned formula and briefs. Thanks for your help.

Why not ship a load of pedialyte and formula ahead of time? (or get a script and have it filled at a walgreens nearby?)

Powerade would count as a part of the dining plan as a snack like soda pop.

Not sure if you are willing to pay for shipping but surely you could get it delivered to your room from a grocer or from home for cheaper.

Thanks for the suggestions. As I'm from Canada getting script won't work and I know it would be expensive to mail it from here. I figured out last night that we only need about 500 mls/day which means 4 bottles will do it. I'll just bring them with me seeing as how I don't have to pay for them here and as it's medical supplies they have to allow it on the plane no matter if it's extra baggage or weight.
