Has anyone stayed here lately, I just won this on Priceline. I looked at previous messages and it says they offered upgrades, that was posts from last year, is it still true? Also, are the standard rooms still as bad as described? Either way I will still be in Disney, and I only paid 35 a night.

Minnieandmickey, congratulations. I have not stayed there but it seems to be popular and that's a great price. When are you going and what specifically did you bid to get this?

I was considering priceline myself for my trip. What is suppose to be wrong with the rooms?

and YES what did you bid?

I am not sure if all standard rooms were that way. One tower has been remodeled the other has not (last time I heard) The tower with most of the suites has been refurbished.

I stayed there back in 95 for my honeymoon and Loved it. I was considering trying to get that hotel via pricline but I am such a cheapscate that I didn't want to pay the $12 a night for parking. So I ended up getting a room via Hotwire for $26 that I don 't have to pay parking.
I don't think that you will be disapointed. It's a nice hotel.

Okay, now you guys have made me nervous... I have booked this location for our April vacation. We have a kids suite that looks fantastic on the website (we actually booked through expedia.com). I even looked at the hyatt.com website and everything looked good. I just can't imagine a Hyatt not being of top quality.

If anyone has any solid information, PLEASE share so that if I need to change my plans I can.

Thanks!

We are going November 11-14, I was very surprised that I got anything. I bid $35 for the Disneyland area, and was scared when it came up and said Garden Grove, but my husband said it is right on the border and only about a mile from DL. We are driving, but the hotel does provided a FREE shuttle.

Midland- the only bad reviews I have seen are on the standard rooms, everyone raved about the Kids Suite.

I am pretty sure that the kids suites are all part of the remodeled area.

The Hyatt is why I am nervous about using Priceline for future Disneyland trips. The standard rooms in the South Tower are old & dirty.

The north tower rooms are okay. The kids suite we stayed in for our April trip last year did have a red stain on the carpet. For our July trip we got "lucky" and got a standard room in the north tower.

My suggestion is to email them, give them your confirmation number (the one that starts with an "H") and request a north tower room. There are no garenteest that you will get one but it is worth a shot.

The only plus to this hotel is the Starbucks in the lobby.

THE SOUTH TOWER ROOMS ARE FILTHY, BEWARE
one of my friends stayed at the hotel and got a room in the South Tower and they were heading toward the south tower and the clerk said "excuse me sir, your in the south tower" with a smirk, the room they sad looked like an inferior motel room, stains, worn, torn walls and ceilings, mold DISGUSTING...enjoy your stay! :Pinkbounc     :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc princess: princess: princess: princess: princess:

Well I am not one to just sit back and stay in filth for 3 days. If I have to I will complain , and will stand my ground until it is rectified. Now before I get flamed, I would never expect anything for free, just a clean room, but just because I spent $35 dollars on a room in a 3 star hotel does not mean I have to settle for filth either. Honestly I am hoping to be able to pay for an upgrade that I have seen has been offered. I will more then likely call the hotel first and ask for a room in the north tower.

Okay, okay...now does anyone have anything reassuring to tell me? Why would Hyatt allow this hotel to continue in this manner? Has anyone stayed there themselves recently?

I appreciate everyone's info/opinion, but if anyone has any firsthand information, that would be great!

We stayed there last Feb. using priceline and upgraded to a North Tower suite for $75 per night.

And yes....request the North Tower...the South Tower's hallways had a terrible smell to them as we passed through on the way to the pool.

mickeyandminnie,
You are exactly right. We bid on a 3* hotel so that means that we should get at 3* room. This happened to me last year on our family vacation to CA, my hubby wanted to stay close to the beach so we got a room via priceline for the hyatt newporter. It was a night mare! Water dripped in our room from the celing all the time, Maid would turn off the air and we would come home to our room soak in wet. Beds were harder then a rock. They have golf cart for the service people and one nearly it my child because he was going way to fast around a corner. I could go on and on.
I would rate my hotel room a 1* if that. But the hotel was nice and definatly a 3*.
Please don't let this happen to you! Stand up for yourself. From what I have read at biddingfortravel.com no one has had a problem with this hotel though.

Called priceline to tell them of my concerns on the condition of the rooms and the treatment of their customers that I have been reading. The girl said they base their ratings on feedback from customers. She said if there are any problems to give them a call and they will accomodate my needs. I told her that I was not looking at cancelling (not that I could) I just want to make sure that we are in a 3* hotel and not in 1* accomodations. I do my hotels very often with priceline, this weekend alone I made arrangements for my dh, dfil, and ds trip to Houston in June, and our trip to New Orleans in November. We have never had a problem with a hotel and am hoping this won't be the first one. I did call the hotel and made sure that I had a room with 2 beds and that it was non-smoking due to the fact that I have asthma, I was transferred to a special line to block out that room for me.

Hey! i saw that you were coming to Houston! Thats Great! What are you planning on doing here???(Just asking since i live in Houston)::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

We stayed at the Hyatt Orange County a little over a year ago. We paid $42/night thru Priceline. We upgraded to a kidsuite for $25/night more. It was a deal, considering that rack rates are typically ~$200/night for those kidsuites.

My parents and 2 brothers chose to stay in the standard rooms in the north tower. Since DH and I had 2 young DDs who touch things they shouldn't touch, we chose the suite for newness, bunk beds and extra space. And boy were we glad we did! We saw the differences between the two towers.

Pros of the Kidsuites:
- a fridge
- cleaner, newer facilities
- big rooms (except for the corner units)
- comfortable beds
- 2 TVs (kids who wake up earlier can watch TV in their own room while parents sleep in peace!!!)

The only unpleasant part was the first night we spent in our kidsuite on the 7th floor, we found ants crawling all over the suite. But front desk was very nice about it, and moved us to another kidsuite on the 10th floor that was bigger than the corner kidsuite unit we were previously in. Advice: Don't get a corner unit -- they're smaller.

Our friends who are going to DL with us in March did Priceline and got the Hyatt for $30/night. I think they're going to go for the upgrade.

llmj_midland: Overall, I don't think you should have any concerns about the Hyatt as long as you get the upgrade. (I cringed at the Standard rooms in the north tower.) We certainly enjoyed staying in the suite, and our family would stay there again. We were treated very well by the staff. They gave us a coupon for a free kid's meal at the nearby Red Robin and a free appetizer at their hotel restaurant. And the room, after the ant incident, turned out to be one of the best we've stayed in when we've ever traveled to the U.S. We also had a good time in the South tower hotel pool and hot tub. The free shuttle is awesome and always on time. Have a fun trip!!!!

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

For those of you that have had such bad experiences, did you let Priceline know? I would think if they got enough bad reviews, they would stop using the Hyatt. I like to use Priceline and have been pleased with the hotels I've gotten near Disneyland (Marriott and another I think it was called Annabella). Now I'm concerned.
Buttercup:D

buttercup, My advice is if you get assigned a room that stinks or is dirty, imediatly go back to the front desk and voice your concerns. I am sure that they will be happy to give you another room.
