I read posts about the Hyatt but the search is disabled so I'll just ask...

How were the rooms?
Did you eat at the hotel restaurants?
How was the pool...heated?

We fly in Friday evening and I'd like to just eat and relax at the hotel before leaving for the Magic saturday am .

Thanks!

The rooms were nice. You can get rooms with a view of the terminal atrium, or of the runways. The runway view rooms have a small balcony. They're pretty standard. They have a coffee maker, but no fridge, as I recall. I think the Hyatt is perfect for a one-night stay before the cruise. It's very convenient, but more expensive than an off-airport hotel. I find that the extra $50 or so is worth it to us.

We ate breakfast at the buffet at the top of the Hyatt once. We will not do so again. It was pretty expensive and pretty mediocre. There are plenty of breakfast options in the terminal. We usually go with the bagel shop. We also ate at the other restaurant which is down near the lobby. This was very good, but also kind of pricey. We now usually have dinner at the Shipyard Brewery, which is just down the escalator from the lobby.

The pool is heated.

:wave:Hi toot2
We stayed at the Hyatt at the airport last october. When we went on the Magic last Halloweenpirate:

The room we had was fine, we had two db beds and a nice view of the runway.

We did not eat in the hotel restaurant. we walked around the airport and had dinner at Chilies. It was not good at all, i wish we had dinner in the hotel.
:(
The pool was awesome. Yes it was heated. The pool is on the roof:hyper:

When we go again next year we will do that again. Well worth it!!
It's so cool you put your bags out in the hall the morning you cruise and then you take a cool bus ride to the port and you bags are in your room soon after you board the ship.

Hope you have a great trip!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Thanks Lloyd!

How did you get to the port? I'm thinking of a limo. I don't want to have to worry about returning a rental car.

What time did you leave for the port?

Hi FaithMagicMickey,

Thanks, sounds like Hyatt's the way to go!

Did you do the Magic or the Wonder?

What time does the DCL transfer get to the ship?

Very disappointed in the Hyatt, we have stayed there several times and got what we thought was a good rate but ran into trouble. We had to cancell a trip and we had made reservations there for 2 rooms. We paid for the rooms with a CC when we made the reservation. They charged us $50 for each room to cancell the reservation, yes each room, and we had called to cancell 45 days before the date of the reservation. So we will never stay there again.

:wave2: Hi toot2 again,
We went on the Magic it was great. Can't wait to go again!:bounce:

We boarded the bus about 10am then got to port about 11am.
It's cool cuz you get there early so you can look around the terminal and the characters come out a to greet the kids.

I'm sorry that "dennis the wdw menace had a problem with the Hyatt..

Please let us know how you make out ant the hotel and the cruise, Can't wait to hear from you.

Have a magical time,
Faith:wave2: ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

We've always had good luck staying at the MCO Hyatt. We've stayed there the night before the past 2 years. It's very convenient. You get to relax at the hotel- and enjoy a drink at the bar if you so choose, the night before.

Last year we took the DCL Transfers but this past summer we used a van from one of the car services. It worked out that that was cheaper than the DCL bus in the long run and we were able to leave when we wanted to, not when the bus was full. Plus when we arrived it wasn't with a huge bus load of people.

As for the food- no no no no no no no no no! Last summer we ate breakfast at the buffet in the hotel (we always eat dinner at the food court in the airport, as another poster said there's also a Chili's) This past August we also ate breakfast down at the food court in the airport, which was much better.

That's where we'd stay next time, too. princess:

We've stayed at the Hyatt for all nine of our cruises and have never had a problem. We've also always taken the DCL transfers to the port. Again, not the most economical option, but probably the easiest. The bus check-in is in the Hyatt lobby, and as faithmagicmickey notes, you get to the port just after 11:00am, plenty of time to get a good spot in line for boarding.

With the transfers, they will deal with your luggage, as was discussed in an earlier post, I'm not sure if they will do so if you provide your own transportation. You can always ask, though.

In addition to a van/limo service, you can also rent a car one-way between the airport and Port Canaveral. Both Hertz and Avis will do this without a drop-off charge, and they provide shuttles from their offices near the port to the ship. You can book a car for your return trip the same way (only in reverse). For some good info on car rentals, check out:

We stayed at the Hyatt last April and will again the night before our next cruise. The room was fine. Nothing amazing, but clean and comfortable.

Our flight got in pretty late, so we ordered room service for dinner. The food was wonderful. I don't remember everything that we ordered, but my DH and DS ordered a pizza that was delicious. The next morning we had room service, as well. Once again we had a great meal. My husband considers me a pretty picky food person. I can honestly say that I liked my meals at the Hyatt better than some of my food on the ship.

We took the DCL bus in the morning. Very easy. We just put our bags outside the room, went downstairs and they took us to the bus. We were at the Port about an hour after we left our room.

Hope this helps!:teeth:

Then I saw this thread. The lowest price I could find was $149 for 2 dbl beds for the Fri night before our cruise. Anyone know if there may be a better price? What have you paid?

Everytime I fly into MCO I look at that hotel and think that someday I'm going to stay there.

I've been checking Hyatt MCO rates for the last 2 months and they remain at $149. OUCH!! But possibly worth it for the convenience. I checked out Hotwire.com and there is a hotel being offered at MCO w/o the shuttle icon for $59. Obviously a much better rate, but I don't know if it's worth the risk??? I've read that people took the no shuttle icon and didn't get the Hyatt!!

Any other thoughts on Hotwire?

Happy Limo is $160 round trip for 4 person sedan MCO to Port Canaveral.

How does that compare with the cost for DCL bus?

Thanks for all the info. We don't cruise until April but I'll be sure to report back!

The DCL Bus is $49.00 pp round trip.

Therefore, if you are a party of 4 or more, not very economical.

Luckily, we are a party of two, 'cause I love going over that hill and seeing the ship in Port! It's Breath Taking!

Regarding the Hyatt, keep checking their site everyday. I managed to get an $83.00 rate but they have these deals only for a few days before they disappear!

Good Luck!

Did you eat at the hotel restaurants?

toot2 - another breakfast option at the airport is Cinnabon. It takes a highly incompetent fast-food novice to screw up a nuked bun with frosting...

hey Toot2
we're also staying at the MCO Hyatt when we cruise in January. We're flying down the night before, not taking any chances with Mother Nature this year... I'm paying the Holiday rate of $124 & 11.5 tax.. I saw an internet rate during the summer of $83, but stupid me didn't book it then.. we were looking into other hotels and into Hotwire... I was too chicken to go with Hotwire.. I should have, I know, but this way I know I got the Hyatt.

I hadn't even given the restaurants a thought ... but will remember the suggestions about the airport restaurants for sure.

I am SO looking forward to this cruise...we're using the DCL bus, there's just my daughter and me. I'd rather take a towncar, even though it would be a tad bit more than the bus, but Jacqui wants to take the bus again, so we will, can't wait for that hill and breathe taking view of the Magic!! :boat:

Thanks for all of the help!

With air, hotel and transfers out of the way I can start to think about excursions!!!

Here's a reprint of a post I made a couple of weeks ago.

______________

We were VERY pleased with our stay at the Orlando Airport Hyatt. We traveled with small children, which made for a very tiring flight. I had a porter walk our luggage to the hotel while I sent the rest of my family to get some lunch.

I walked back to meet them in the airport. We thought we would go to Downtown Disney, or something else for the rest of the day. But there was an entire mall in the airport, plus a swimming pool at the hotel.

When we were done with that, I took the boys for a moving sidewalk excursion all over the airport. (My four year-old ranked it right up there with the cruise itself.)

Then we ate at Chili's, where there was NO wait on a Friday night. We never left the airport.

The transfer to the port was extremely painless, and we were in the front third or so of the line. Plenty of time for reservations, etc. Will DEFINITELY use this hotel again.

We stayed at the MCO Hyatt before our Western cruise in August and it was a great experience. Rooms were very nice and the airport has everything you need in the way of conveniences. I used Orbitz.com and got a $79.00 rate for a room with a King bed.
