UPDATE: My post-stay review is in Post #29.

I have never stayed here but it is on my short list since my teenage son's top priority in a hotel is a hot breakfast. (That was a little surprising, but the trip is for him and his friend, who has never been to Disneyland.)

I've read some poor reviews lately. Most of those seem to be related to limited or no housekeeping. That's not an issue for me since I don't like anyone entering my room anyway.

Is the hot breakfast back in full swing?

Details about the complimentary grocery orders?
Is there a particular store they use? Do they hold your items or put them in your room?

Any concerns about 2 teenage boys walking back alone at night?

Anything else to note?

Thanks!

Unfortunately I can't answer a lot of your questions, but I wanted to give some positive feedback. I moved from NY to the bay area during the pandemic, via cross country road trip. As big Disney world fans and without an apartment/house waiting for us up north, our first stop in CA was Anaheim. We stayed in the Hyatt House in February 2021 for about a week (at $80 a night!) while "a touch of Disney" was open and we sorted out housing arrangements. I can't speak highly enough about the hotel at that time. It was clean, the room was large, really nice kitchenette, the staff was friendly. It's a bit of a walk to Disney, maybe 15 minutes, but certainly walking distance (i can't speak to the safety). But we had such a positive experience at this hotel that when i saw the thread, i had to give it some love.

We originally said that would be out DLR hotel, but we fell in love with the Grand, and the walk is a bit much with a toddler.

What a great rate! I remember seeing so many great rates when hotels were reopening before the parks reopened. Thanks for the info.

We will be staying there for one night in a few weeks, will report back. I've stayed there a few times before, it's our go-to off site hotel. The walk isn't that bad. If you have responsible teenagers I would feel comfortable with them walking back. In particular if they had an app like Life360 where I could watch their progress. The breakfast was really good last time, we were happy with the hotel. Walgreens downstairs is really nice.

Or maybe I will report back. 😄 My trip is in 2 weeks and it's time to dump some reservations! The Walgreens right there is appealing to me as well. They are very responsible boys. And 6ft+ so I guess they could pass for actual men. 😄

The walk is fine. I did it solo last July. Hot breakfast wasn't back then but it was fine in March 2020. It was eggs, some type of potato and sausage and/or bacon I can't remember. And by type of potato like one day was tater tots and I seem to remember fries or something equally odd for breakfast. I would contact the hotel to see if they are back doing it if no one here knows.

We stayed at the Anaheim Hyatt House last October and have been to other Hyatt Houses recently. They had hot breakfast then and it was ok. It wasn’t great food by any means, but a breakfast that you can grab immediately and head to the park was a plus. The walk felt a little long at night on night 4 after a long day in the park but was manageable. I would stay again. Actually staying at the other Hyatt on our next trip though

As of June, their breakfast was still COVID style. So eggs, potatoes (mixed or tots) and sausage or bacon served by staff. And there was also bread and stuff.

If breakfast really matters to you, I recommend doing the Element instead. But their breakfast is a bit more health conscious so if you like a lot of sugary things likes waffles, then you should go elsewhere.

I think it's fine to walk back at night. You really can't do much better anywhere close.

The Hyatt Regency in Orange is great as well. Dedicated shuttle (40 foot bus) every half hour and a Starbucks in the lobby.

Yes! I have stayed there twice and really enjoyed it. The boys have a day at Knott's Berry Farm planned and it closes at 6:00, so I think they would enjoy just hanging out at the hotel that night. If I hadn't asked him what his priority was in a hotel, that is where we would stay. I haven't brought myself to cancel that reservation yet, so we could still end up there. I got a much better rate there than I did at Hyatt House, and I really like the idea of having a dedicated shuttle. No breakfast for him, though.

Smart boys carving out a day for Knott's Berry Farm! I did the same thing in the middle of our trip in three weeks. When I was really little the extended family would go to Disneyland during the day and then everyone would head over for Mrs. Knott's Fried Chicken Dinner and walk around Ghost Town.

Please post your review! I have both Hyatt House and Residence Inn booked and can’t decide! Reviews seem mixed lately. Thanks and have a great trip!

In my opinion, the Residence Inn is better. Rooms are a little nicer and the breakfast is better although I don't really know if breakfast at the Residence Inn has changed post-COVID. If it isn't too much more expensive, I'd prefer the Residence Inn.

Fun memories! My son has been to KBF twice and is excited to take his friend. (1st timer to both DLR and KBF.) My son has only been to KBF in Oct and Sept, when it truly was a "ghost town" both days. I think he is in for a bit of a rude awakening going in August and having to wait in lines. On one of those trips my sister was the only rider on Montezooma's Revenge. Completely empty train except for her sitting in the very back. My son is bummed it will be closed this time.

Not sure on the ages of your group or what day they are going to KBF, but they have a chaperone policy Friday-Sunday now for anyone 17 and under.

Looking forward to hearing any reports on Hyatt House as well. We are booked there the first weekend in October.

Thank you, yes, I have been following that. My son told me about all the fights and the park closing early. I see they have worded the policy such that they could add other days to the chaperone requirement. The boys are 16/17, and going on a weekday. At this point I am planning to just drop them off and take my 6 year old daughter to DL, but I will be prepared to spend the day there with them if needed. I'm not exactly sure how that works though, if you are supposed to be with them at all times. I wouldn't ride most of the things they will ride.

We decided on Hyatt House for sure, so I will be back with a report. If anyone has any specific questions or things they want me to ask about or look for, let me know!

I think you just have to be in the vicinity. They don't expect you to ride Ghost Rider with them 😂

I'd love to know how you found the room, availability of elevators, and breakfast reviews 😀
