Hyatt House Reviews 2022?

In my opinion, the Residence Inn is better. Rooms are a little nicer and the breakfast is better although I don't really know if breakfast at the Residence Inn has changed post-COVID. If it isn't too much more expensive, I'd prefer the Residence Inn.
Thank you so much!

Watching this thread.
I have a reservation there and on Dessert Inn for 3 nights in 3 weeks.
Hot breakfast is important to my family of 5, so I'm more inclined to stay at Hyatt House.
Thanks...

I have stayed there many times, before and after COVID. The weekday breakfast is better than the weekend breakfast. Both are good, not great. What we love about the Hyatt is the proximity to the parks, the rooftop pool, as well as the Blaze Pizza on property. We have stayed at Hyatt Place, and HH Cypress, and this is by far our favorite Hyatt in the area.

I think you just have to be in the vicinity. They don't expect you to ride Ghost Rider with them 😂
This is true, my daughter rode Hangime multiple times without me as I can only do it once because the first 30 seconds of that ride is pure terror. The employee manning the ride said she was okay to ride as long as I was nearby.

Just got back from our stay. Still a wonderful hotel. Very clean, breakfast was great for being included with the hotel. Hot items were great. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Thanks for the feedback. We're going there in 10 days and the included breakfast and cleanliness were the selling factors for our family of 5.

OP here. Just returned yesterday after a 4 night stay at the Hyatt House on Harbor/Katella.

So glad we kept this reservation! We stayed in 2 of the 2 Queen Studio with a Park View rooms on the 3rd floor. My 6 year old daughter slept on the sofa bed. She had no complaints, but I didn't try it out myself. My queen bed was comfortable. Being a room with a Park View, it was facing the Harbor/Katella intersection. I was awakened a few times during the night by traffic, but I went right back to sleep. I would still choose this room type even after experiencing the traffic. A white noise machine should fix the issue.

The size of the room was decent. We had 3 people in a 6 person room. Left the sofa bed open throughout the stay. Left the umbrella stroller in the kitchen area. Didn't feel like we had to hop over things. The sofa bed did take up all the space once opened - clear up to the TV. It didn't block the areas where we needed to walk, though.

The breakfast looked great. So many options! DS16 and his friend ate down there every morning and really enjoyed it. I chose to let my daughter sleep and then wake her up right before heading to the park for rope drop, so I didn't experience the breakfast properly. You can bring plates/bowls back to your room. They have real plates/bowls/cups/silverware, as well as disposable plates and forks/knives/spoons. My son said everything was serve-yourself...so no staff serving hot food. I did manage to grab a disposable plate with fresh melon and pineapple a couple of mornings. It was great. On the last morning I quickly made my daughter a PB&J to eat once we got to the airport.

Elevator experience was perfect. There are 4 elevators. I never had a wait other than just waiting for the elevator to come to the floor. We were by ourselves in the elevators most of the time. I appreciated that you needed to use your room key to activate the elevator from the lobby.

I LOVED having Walgreens right there. I also enjoyed having a back entrance to the store used by hotel guests. The line is shorter at the register in the back of the store, than at the Harbor/Katella entrance.

I had to rent a car for about 9 hours one day. I did not have to pay for parking since I didn't park overnight. I am not a fan of underground parking lots, but this one is well-lit and felt safe. I was able to find a parking spot directly across from the ground floor elevator entrance, so that helped.

The reservation was in my name, but my sister's flight was scheduled to leave 8 hours after mine. It was no problem for my sister to stay until checkout and have her bags held after I checked out at 8:30am.

Our only issue was with the water pressure in the shower, which I had read about in reviews. It really just kind of dribbled out and would have been impossible to take a shower in. We put in a request on our way out for the day for maintenance to come fix it. It was fixed by the time we returned that night, and was never an issue again. The water pressure in my son's room did not have any issues.

The walk to the parks was better/easier than I was expecting. I had DD6 in an umbrella stroller.

The latest we returned to the hotel was 1:15am on Friday night/Saturday morning after closing down the park. It was me, my sister, DD6, DS16 and his 17 yo friend. The street was pretty deserted at that point, but we still felt safe. I would have been uncomfortable had I been completely alone, though. I noticed more homeless people on this trip than ever before. I don't know if it is always like that in this particular area, or if it has gotten worse in recent times. I didn't experience any panhandling or anyone being aggressive. I did notice that people were sometimes camped out on the grass of various hotel properties along the stretch between Harbor/Katella and the main DLR pedestrian entrance on Harbor. That surprised me, as I haven't seen that before. I did notice that benches have been removed from bus stops to prevent folks from sleeping on them. Some stops now have multiple smaller seats available, as opposed to benches.

My son and his friend had big plans to use the gym, pool and jacuzzi, but there just wasn't time with our packed 4 days. We decided we need to build in a rest day next time.

I had asked about the grocery service in the OP, but I didn't use it so I can't comment on that.

Below is the review I left on TripAdvisor as of a few minutes ago. It should show up there tomorrow. GREAT hotel....

Our family of 5 stayed here for 3 nights (Aug 31st to Sep 3rd), after staying at an Airbnb for 7 nights in LA. As many people have recommended, you really SHOULD stay in Anaheim while doing Disneyland. It's so different from Walt Disney World, there are several hotels around the gates of the park and you can walk back and forth.

I moved my reservation among 3 different hotels and, at the end, chose Hyatt House and I'm so glad we chose this one.

Everyone was so nice at the hotel, I got a good vibe from people there.

We ended up arriving extremely early (around 10 AM) and our room wasn't ready. The guy working reception was very nice and offered to keep our bags and gave us a key so we could use the pool. By the way, they also kept our bags after we checked out, there were lots of carts (behind the check-in area).

The pool area on the 2nd floor is VERY nice, I had read about it. Lots of lounges, several umbrellas, pool toys, BBQs for guest usage, etc. There's also a hot tub, but we barely used it since it was extremely hot the 3 days we were there.

At 12:30 PM, we asked if our room was available (Speciality Family Suite), it wasn't. I was offered a free upgrade to a Kitchen suite with park view. We accepted as we loved the idea of "Disney view". Our room was on the 3rd floor (#334). From there, we could see pieces of 3 rides (Matterhorn, Radiator Springs and Guardians of the Galaxy. I went to the 5th floor and from there I could also see Space Mountain and Grizzly River Run (the palm trees on the 3rd floor block those rides). The highlight of the room though was seeing the Disneyland fireworks from our beds on the 1st night (when we didn't go to a park). The whole family loved the experience. Sofa bed was comfortable and my oldest slept there.

Queen beds were extremely comfortable, and bathroom worked well. Two minor issues in the room: strong smell of curry in the refrigerator as we arrived (we left the door open and used wipes to clean it ourselves) and not so great water pressure in the shower/tub (a known problem in the hotel, based on the reviews). It was enough pressure for us not to complain about it though. AC worked perfectly, wifi was great too, no issues whatsoever.

The hotel offers 2 water bottles per day for Hyatt members (free to sign up online). This was very nice, we would take the 2 cold water bottles along with the frozen ones from our stack of water bottles from the night before.

At the time of this writing, housekeeping is only provided after 3 days. It didn't bother us and we exchanged towels twice when we saw people cleaning other rooms.

Breakfast was amazing and one of the reasons we booked this place. Options changed from each day and plates were cleaned by staff right away. Lots of fruit including bananas and apples, which we took to the parks as snacks.

Hotel was very clean everywhere I checked. I wish they had more public restrooms. There are only 2 in the whole hotel. In the lobby area and a smaller one on the second floor, by the pool.

We felt safe there and appreciated the fact you need your key card to activate the elevators and go to the rooms.

Washing and drying machines are available on the 5th floor. We used them once. 3.00 to wash, 2.00 to dry (both worked well) and soap/drying sheets are available for 1.25.

The Walgreens on the main floor of the hotel was great as well as the pizza place. We bought pizzas from there once after we checked out and it was too early to go to the airport.

The walk to the park was around 13 minutes. You have to cross 3 streets/traffic lights. We did come back to the room every day around 2 PM, for shower/resting and coming back to the pars around 5:30 PM.

Now, the elephant in the room and what many people talk and get concerned about: the homeless people around the hotel area. We saw several of them in the morning, afternoon and evening but none of them bothered us anytime. On the last day, after we checked out and were hanging by the lobby area for 3 hours, we saw 2 of them coming inside the hotel. The staff asked politely for them to leave and they did. Not sure if this is somewhat normal there. If you want to avoid this, I guess the only option is staying in a Disney hotel.

Would I stay there again? For sure, we loved our stay, GOOD breakfast included is very important to our family of 5 and the distance is perfectly fine. Of course, there are motels way closer, but we would go back to Hyatt House anytime if the price is right.

We stayed in the same room. 😄 We were there Aug 16-20. And did not store any curry in the fridge. 😄

I mentioned in my review that the water just dribbled out from the shower head, but they fixed it quickly upon asking. I wonder what the deal is there. My son's room next door didn't have that issue.

LOL, what a coincidence....

No, the curry issue was for sure from the previous stay, someone that checked out that day (Aug 31st) or the day before. We thought about complaining, but decided to just use wipes we had on us and leave the fridge door open for an hour. That did the trick. I loved the fact that, although it's a mini fridge size, there's a separate door for the freezer. It allowed us to freeze 4 or 5 water bottles the night before.

With all that said, if I go back, I'll ask for a room on the 4th or 5th floor, as it provides a better view (more rides) as well as likely a nicer fireworks view....

I'd have to disagree about the breakfast. In my opinion, the Hyatt House breakfast is kinda mediocre right now compared to other free breakfasts in the area. Historically, the Residence Inn near the park and the Embassy Suites in Garden Grove have had the best free breakfasts but I haven't been to these hotels for years.

The Element which I actually have been to this year has my favorite free breakfast in the area but it's a healthy style rather than traditional style so no waffle machines but the Hyatt House doesn't have waffle machines either. The Hyatt House breakfast is fine but pretty much every other hotel in the area with free breakfast belonging to a major hotel chain will do just as well or better.

Each one is entitled to their opinion. :)

Hyatt had scrambled eggs, 2 types of sausage, pancakes, crispy hash brown, several types of fruit, yogurt, bread, cream cheese, several types of juice, good coffee (and decaf coffee), milk, cream and many other things I must be forgetting here....

I was going to stay across the park at the Desert Inn Anaheim. When I saw the 4 things they had for breakfast, that made me change to Hyatt House. Of course, I can't speak for other hotels in the area since Hyatt House was my first and only stay in Anaheim, so I respect your opinion :).

Well, after hearing news about CCI, I got paranoid and went ahead and booked a backup for our trip December. I mean, I wonder what the holdup is with Candy Cane? Surely it should be ready by December??

after much research on this board, we decided to go with Hyatt. We’re used to the walk to CCI so this is just a bit more. We’re used to the homeless people, who, by the way, I encountered plenty up by Desert Inn when there in July.

so, fingers crossed for CCI but at least we have a backup now 😊

Good luck. I sure hope CCI is open by December, for you. They were my first choice. Hyatt House is literally just crossing the same set of traffic lights twice before getting to CCI.

Although I loved my stay at Hyatt House, I would like to stay on the famous family owned Candy Cane Inn next time we go too...
