Considering a stay offsite at the Hyatt Grand Cypress because we could cover out stay with points. Our last "one and done" stay was at the Grand Floridian, so this would be quite different.

Do you think we could still get ILL at park opening for each park? Also, is it worth it to save so much money and skip out on early entry? We didn't really end up using early entry last stay by the time we got out the door (back of the EE pack a couple of days). We would obviously have to pay for parking since I am not sure we could Uber with a family of 2 adults and 4 kids (ages 3-10).

I'm sorry I am not sure about getting your ILL's. I don't think the Grand Cypress is technically a Dis Springs hotel so it has to rely on its own advantages. We loved the resort itself, especially the pool area, and found a lot to do there. It is close enough that driving to Disney will not be too hard. Keep in mind the resort fee, which they will probably charge you in addition to parking even if you are staying on points (if your points cover these fees, that's awesome, and you should definitely go there).

The current early entry is not worth it in my opinion so I would not consider it at all.

I've stayed there on points and likely will again.

As always free nights on Hyatt points/certificats do not have resort fees

Checking in to see if you ended up staying at the Hyatt Grand Cypress and, if you did, how was your stay? Did you feel that you missed out on EE and did you have a difficult time getting LL?

We did not. We stayed at All Star Music instead ! So I’m sorry I can’t update to this!

Thanks for your quick reply. We are considering staying at the Hyatt with points. Do you mind sharing why you decided against it?

What did you think of All Star Music?

I think we couldn’t find availability on points for the room size we would need as a family of 6 (since the decision was about a year ago, my brain isn’t super clear on that). We also felt like the ease of just using WDW transportation and not having to pay extra for a car was worth it. Also, we are mostly in the parks all day and so no need for a fancy hotel. We did end up doing EE this last visit most days.

We went in Jan and it was less than $2,000 for a Family Suite at ASMu for one week. If you do the 1cpp ratio, ASMu would probably come out as cheaper depending on your point redemption strategy.

We loved the Family Suite for our needs. I liked the two bathrooms and the fact that our whole family was in one room together. The fridge was great, too, since we did breakfast in the room every day.

Not sure about your family size, but for us, ASMu was the cheapest option for our family of 6!

All that said, we have tossed around the idea of doing Hyatt Place on points some time. But after having separate sleeping spaces, I’m willing to pay cash for our hotel again.

Have stayed at both the HP and the HR...

Animal lovers may find the pet parrot in the lobby disconcerting.

The resort itself is a great one at the HR. Lots to do, nice boat options, pools.

I'd recommend if someone were doing a long Orlando vacation to use it as a home base and get a suite.

Amazingly comfortable bed.

Hyatt Regency Orlando is another nice option too - though it is not as close to the parks, but not too far from them either. That hotel has more of a "conference hotel" feel to it than a resort.

Thanks for your reply. We'll be staying at the HR Orlando for a meeting, and then moving to HR Cypress for a week. Did you take the HRC free shuttle back and forth to the parks? I've read mixed reviews on it. We may just rent a car and pay for parking.

We have always driven to the resort so I can’t comment on it. My understanding is that it went to the TTC only.

It has always felt to me that Cypress and Disney do not have a relationship, or if they do that it is a strained one. But others may have actual facts they can offer.

All three Hyatt Regency Orlando properties are fantastic. You’ll enjoy your stay at each one.
