I've been researching hotels (Hyatt regency grand cypress) and have come across a great deal on a hotel that seems to get mostly good reviews

It comes to $324 for 3 nights + $20 resort fee (so $384 a night really, + parking)
This deal also includes a $200 food and beverage credit (so the booking website says)

I don't want to be too close to DW, as it'll be a bit too much of a tease for my DS who will have to wait until after the cruise to go there.

I have also found the same hotel on another website for $261 for 3 nights, + resort fee and parking, no food and bev credit.

A couple of questions I have really, does anybody know this hotel, stayed at it?
Have you had an instance where a hotel hasn't honored a deal shown on the website? ie the food and bev credit

Any other recs for hotels appreciated :thumbsup2

Just went to a convention there (and only a convention, didn't stay). I found the parking horrible. Not just for the convention goers, but for the hotel guests too.

I wasn't too impressed, more like a bit disappointed. Kind of old and drab and a little shabby.

I did NOT see a room though, so keep that in mind.

If you can find something like Waldorf Astoria or the Ritz Carlton (now THAT is a BEAUTIFUL hotel with wonderful food and not on top of Disney) go with one of those.

I will be going there this weekend for the first time. I normally like to stay at the Waldorf Astoria or Hilton Bonnet Creek, but I wanted to try this hotel out of curiousity. I have read a few negative, but mostly positive, reviews about this hotel, and I hope I don't regret my choice. They also have extremely limited shuttle transportation to WDW which may be another downside of staying there.

Make sure you're correct about the resort fee. On Hyatt's site, they state the fee is $22 per night. My rate was $111 + the resort fee per night on a Hyatt 48hr sale last month.

I'll try and remember to come back and tell you about my stay once I get back home.

Good luck with your search!

Funny you mention Hilton Bonnet creek, now that looks amazing :thumbsup2 the only thing holding me back from booking that one is that it is so close to the parks you can pretty much see them and I don't want to stay there and tell my DS we're not going there, it's just a tease :goodvibes

Would love to hear what you think of the Hyatt though ::yes::

Thanks for your replies, really appreciate it, I have no idea what i'm looking at LOL

Stayed there for three nights a couple of years ago for a business meeting. Very nice resort overall. Pool is laid out well and has some nice seperation so it all in one big area. Trail on the property is nice for running. Room was really nice for a business trip, but small. Really no different than most Grand Hyatt rooms though. I liked the bar across the street from the hotel and the IHOP as well after drinking. Work out room is in the middle of the pool area. It was very busy and not big enough for my liking. If I remember correctly, you can get to DTD from here w/o going to the highway.

Just got back from a 2 night stay at the Hyatt Grand Cypress. It was a nice stay, but I found the Hilton Bonnet Creek is better and the Waldorf is much better.

There are only two buses (Downtown Disney style) that take you to WDW each day and it only goes to the Transportation and Ticket Center. The bus leaves the Hyatt at 8:50am and 10am. They return 6pm, 8pm, 9:45pm, and 11:15pm.

HBC and WA have their own charter buses that take you to TTC every 30 minutes. Starts at 8AM. There is a bus every hour to AK, EP, and HS. (Routes are MK/AK or MK/EP/HS). Last time I checked the number of departures: MK 26-28, EP 14, HS 15, AK 9, Downtown Disney 6.

The only Hyatt restaurant I went to was Cascade for breakfast and lunch. I wasn't impressed, unsure if the others are better. The two places I wanted to go to were closed. Food was much better at the Hilton and Waldorf.

The guest room hallways of the Hyatt all open to the lobby's atrium, so you may hear other guests at night if they are noisy.

The Hyatt's pool has cool waterfalls, but Hilton's and Waldorf's are kept up better.

For those with status for Hilton and Hyatt, at the Hilton BC I received free buffet or sitdown breakfast, 2 bottles of water a day, free internet, upgrade to high floor with Disney view. At the Waldorf, 2 bottles of water a day, free internet, upgrade to a suite on high floor with Disney view, glass of wine, champagne or beer each day. At the Hyatt, only free internet. I am Gold with Hilton and Platinum with Hyatt. It is my understanding only Diamonds have access to the Executive Lounge unless you pay ($75 ?). No Executive Lounges at HBC or WA.

crikey you lot are tough!! You must stay in some pretty wonderful expensive hotels not to be impressed with the hyatt grand cypress... we stayed there in 2010 post carribean cruise and it was fantastic. The best pool I've ever seen with it's caverns waterfalls and shoots... huge lake walk around. 1/2 mile from downtown disney. We walked there every evening. Huge rooms... I don't get why you think they are small... is it that we are used to really small rooms in the uk.. I stayed in a hotel last month where the room fitted a bed, a dresser and a chair that's it. We stayed in a standard room that was really big, tiny balcony but we were up so high up I was scared to go out there. It was really classy. Not drab, not miserable, not old.... really wonderful. I nealry cried when we left, hence the return this october for 2 weeks

We used to stay every year at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, for 10years plus
We loved when we would drive up to see familiar faces from years past and everyone was so friendly and professional. The hotel has undergone a "makeover" in the last few years. We feel it lost alot from this refurb and the vibe just wasnt there the last few times we stayed. They remove ALOT if not all of the foliage in the lobby. This was once of the best part of the hotel. The rooms are newly updated, very clean and modern looking however for us we preferred the old decor. Some say cheesy we say classic :)
The pool and grounds are lovely and sprawling but again the last few times we visited we noticed things that just werent what we had become used to. Pool was dirty, cups and trash laying around. Nickel and dime you for everything. They downsized the nice little food court area they had.
Maybe its the clientele during our stay or maybe its new management.
I have to agree , unfortunately, that the Hilton Bonnet Creek was just wonderful but In all fairness HBC is new. We miss going to the HY at times but just feel that after all the changes its not what we remember. Change is good but not in this case, we want our old HYATT back :)

I thought the Grand Cypress was awesome. It may be older but it id older in a grand way. :) The rooms have been remodeled since we were there and they look nicer to me. The pool area was great. I loved the caverns. The grounds are very beautiful. One time we had a great (though distant) view of the Wishes fireworks.
Hilton Bonnet creek was good to. It is much more modern and a bit less grand but the pool was good there too. We had a great view over looking WDW.

I am sorry for pulling up such an old thread but I am staying at the Hyatt Grand Cypress in March for a conference. I was originally really excited to have to go to Orlando. I don't have a super flexible schedule but was hoping to get some park time in. I will not have a car and the research I have done shows very limited transportation options and schedules. I would love to hear your experiences with the parks in relationship to the parks.
