Hyatt at the Orlando Airport

We just got the Hyatt for the night of 5/7 for $49 plus tax.

Lucky break as the lowest rate we could find for this property was over $160/night!

Where did you get that rate? The only place I have ever seen it that low is through Priceline.

That's great news about getting the Hyatt! What exactly did you request?
I'm looking for a good rate in early October. I just checked their AAA rate and it's still over $160.......do you think you got such a low rate because May is coming soon and the hotel may have lots of unbooked rooms. What do you think I can expect for October?

I tried a rate of $35 for a 3* hotel in the MCO area. It came back unconfirmed and offered another chance if I added $14 to my original bid (without changing any other criteria, as they usually ask).

Fingers were crossed and it came back confirmed at the Hyatt.

I don't know if it had something to do with the proximity of the date, but it's probably worth a try.

How far in advance did you book the Hyatt, especially when you got the good rate. It would be worth it to me to stay at the Hyatt. We hate to move from the airport to a hotel and back to the airport to catch the bus.

Someone had just asked a little while ago if the Hyatt was still available through Priceline or Hotwire. Personally I like Hotwire better but that is great you were able to get it through Priceline. I may try it for my dates next year. Congrats!!

Just bid on Priceline 49$ for a 3 star and got........................
Holiday Select at MCO , it must be right next to the Marriot according to the map, anyone ever stay there? Must be nice if three stars, right?

I can only ditto what everyone else has said. We flew in on the Friday night from MHT and on top of being delayed, our luggage was lost. The very wonderful bellmen at the Hyatt helped us out by going down to US Airways the next morning to collect our bags. FYI - DCL uses the Hyatt to house cruise guests coming in from the West Coast, so they have loads of cruisers every week and they really know the drill.

As for packing travel clothes, etc...in a day bag, I heartily recommend it. In fact, what I had done (thank goodness, in light of our delayed luggage), was put everything we'd need for the 1st 24 hours into a smaller wheelie so that I would not have to open the larger suitcases at the Hyatt. So I had bathroom kits, jammies, clothes for FL weather, bathing suits, etc... all in one place. It was the best tip I got from these boards.

After reading a few posts on missed cruises due to air delays I decided to call DCL and inquire about changing my resv from same day arrival ( had them do the air as well) to flying in the day before. they said no problem and I would be put up in the Hyatt for $170. If I wanted to book mysefl then I would have to pay a $50 per/prson deviation fee. Cheaper just to have them do it. But when i called back to go through with it I was told it seems all rooms so far that they have a block on are booked (for 5-7-05). Within 48 hours someone from DCL will call me and let me know if they do have a room. Seems cruisers from the West coast are flown in the day before and put in there so most of the rooms go fast. I sure do hope they call me with an opening as now I really want to fly in the day before and not take a chance of delays or missed connections to mess up our first cruise.

Dena,

AFter reading these boards, we changed our flight from the west coast (which had been a red eye, arriving the morning of the cruise) so that we will arrive the day before and stay overnight at the Hyatt. I feel much more comfortable now. The red eye had a short connection that made me nervous!

on other little tidbit about when we stayed at the Hyatt. My ten year old had received left all his CDs in a case there that had gotten tangled under the spread. We thought those CDs were gone forever. However when we returned from our cruise, we had time to check at the desk at the Hyatt, and they had been turned in. My son sure was lucky, but he sweated it all week thinking he was out all his CDs.

Sue-

That is one of my biggest fears. My kids always play with their Game Boys in bed and I am constantly worrying about them losing the games or the Game Boys themselves in the sheets.
