Hyatt at the Orlando Airport

our AAA rate is $134 which is slightly higher than the rate for a hartford hotel and worth the convenience and the opportunity to sleep late and eat breakfast. we usually have a 6am flight out of hartford so we are up at 4. in addition i saved over $250 on a friday v. saturday flight.

thanx mcnuss for the packing advice.

We are also staying at the Hyatt the night before our cruise. I booked on-line using Hyatt's website and got an AAA rate of $134.10 plus tax.

I agree, it is a little more expensive, but well worth the convenience. We will be using Tiffany Towncar instead of the transfers however.

We too are staying at the Hyatt the night before our July cruise. While a little more pricey, I don't mind paying more for the convenience.

?? I wasn't aware of the baggage thing - do you need to be using DCL transportation to the port in order for the luggage to be collected? We are using a towncar service.

Thanks!

I know that they used to pick up your luggage weather you has DCL transfers or not, but I heard that you now need to have the transfers. That's just what I heard on these boards, you might want to call the Hyatt and double check.:D

Makaylee: When did that start? I, too, thought you did not need to buy the transfers to have your luggage transported to the ship. I hope this is incorrect since I do not want to be the one to tell my husband and brother that they will have to worry about the luggage afterall!!

When I booked the hotel, I asked about the luggage and they said "no problem".

You're welcome! I hope you don't need it the same way we did, that was a little too much excitement for the night before the cruise!

In terms of $$ for the Hyatt, you have to factor in transportation to/from the less-expensive hotel, if it does not have a shuttle or if you arrive too late to use it.

My stay was free using points, but I recall looking at the time and the rate was about $100. I guess that the higher rates are a refelction of the fact that more people are traveling.

Because we have a late flight coming home from cruise, we're staying at the Hyatt for the day from 10-6 for $60.00.

Since we're staying at the Radisson the night before cruise and the Hyatt the day we come home, I can compare for next time and see which one I like better for Next cruise... (I know, I know, get through the first cruise first, before I start planning the next, right? LOL):hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

When we stayed at the Hyatt a couple of weeks ago they were still taking the luggage even without DCL transfers. They gave us a blue envelope with all the instructions in it. We had $38 priceline reservations and they still said it was no problem!

muntzfab4,

When we stayed at the Hyatt the night before our cruise in February, they allowed us to put our bags out in the hall the next morning for DCL to pick up and transport to the ship even though we weren't using DCL transportation. We used Happy Limo. I read a thread a while back that said that another cruiser was not allowed to do this. I think the Hyatt people don't care if you are using DCL transportation or not, but the DCL CMs at the Hyatt the morning of the cruise do care. When we checked in, the Hyatt rep gave us written instructions about when to have our bags in the hall and how to put the luggage tags on the bags. It was very convenient!

I am not sure, I just remember reading it on this board about a month or so ago. The poster could have been wrong. If I were you I would call the Hyatt (866)349 3607 to be sure. The poster could have been wrong and I would hate for you to worry for no reason. :D

Edited to add: I just read your post again and saw the part about them telling you no problem so I wouldnt worry about it. Just goes to show you every thing you read on here might not be accurate. :o sorry But I know I did read that on here. I guess its because DCL says no, but the Hyatt says yes.

Makaylee: Thanks for the input. I will call to double check today at work since it was about two months ago that I made the reservation and things could change.

I will let everyone know what they tell me.

Sorry,

In order to use the DCL baggage transfer service you must either have purchased DCL Transportation Transfers or pay for the baggage service separately. The baggage transfer service costs 24$ for the first 6 bags and $4 for each additional bag.

The Hyatt people may tell you that it is "OK", but they are not the ones taking your bags to the port. It may be that if you left your bags out with DCL tags that they might get collected and sent to the port along with the others. However if something did happen, either because they discovered that the transfers where not purchased or for any other reason and the bags did get left behind you would have no recourse (or underwear).

We stayed at the Hyatt on 3/26 for $40 through Priceline. You may want to give this a try. We were willing to lose the $40 if it didn't come through because we didn't want to stay anywhere else.

Priceline for the Hyatt? That's cool! HOw did you do it? Can you specify that you are only shopping for rates at the Hyatt? Or do you have to simply bid on properties near MCO and then take your chances? I have a AAA rate reservation pending at the Hyatt, but would surely cancel it if I could rebook at a cheaper price through Priceline. I didn't go that route originally because I thought that there was no way to indicate that we were looking for the Hyatt and therefore I was likely end up someplace else. Any tips? I sure would appreciate it. Maybe I just don't understand Priceline very well. Thanks!

We too are staying at the Hyatt on May 7th. We have friends who have done both the Eastern & Western 7 day and swear by the Hyatt. Our flight doesn't get in until 10PM and I didn't want to bother with a shuttle etc.

Unfortunately the best AAA rate I could get was $152 and that was on my own-my AAA travel agent quoted me $190-go figure. I have been checking the website for months and fianlly booked two weeks ago because the rate didn't seem to be dropping much.

I thought about trying priceline, but I didn't want to waste money if I didn't get the Hyatt. Oh well, maybe next cruise.

Leahpie.

Leahpie - Should we wait up for you? LOL - Mike

Thanks, Shari. That's what I thought. I'm gonna try it!

We just got the Hyatt for the night of 5/7 for $49 plus tax.

Lucky break as the lowest rate we could find for this property was over $160/night!

Thats an excellent rate. Good for you. - Mike
