Hwy 19/27 from Tallahassee to Ocala

I'm planning my route from Mississippi to WDW. Usually, I enter Florida on I-10 to I-75 to the turnpike, etc. DW's family recommended that I take Hwy 19/27 from just past Tallahassee to Ocala. Looking at it on the map, it's appears to be all four-lane highway. I'm just a little nervous about not staying on the interstate. Has anyone here gone this route? If so, how's the drive?

We usually take this route too. It's a very pretty drive, really get to see Old Florida. There are lots of places to stop and it's 4 lane most(if not all)the way. I would suggest getting back onto the interstate at Ocala and then the turnpike. It does seem to go faster from there.
