HVAC recommendations

Our Lennox lasted 20 yrs and was still working well when a tree fell on our house and crushed it. Whenever my brother would service it he would take the panel off and wow over how well it was made and how newer units have so much more plastic for parts that used to be solid brass. Since it seems that's the trend for all manufacturing, I'd just be wanting someone who can replace it soonest. It will be 105+ heat index here in NJ today and tomorrow.
At those temps I don't even think I'd be picky. (Or I'd be booking a hotel room until the new unit is installed.)
It cannot be repaired?

Thanks for your quick response!Don't know what to believe - A number of installers said they do not make this unit anymore and although he found a part there is no guarantee some other piece that part may breakdown and then we will still have to replace the whole unit and investing this amount would be for nothing. I'm so confused, a friend recommended a repair person and he deals with Rheem - I'm not sure about anything so I love hearing the impartial comments on this board! :)

So in May we decided to go with lennox through Lowe's due to their great financing program and the fact the rest of the market seems crowded by crooks:/

We went with the least expensive option because when the guy laid out style type A, style B & style C, it turns out the differences had nothing to do with cooling ability and were only about emissions. I reasoned that with today's highly regulated emissions standards everything has pretty high standards so the differences are probably pretty negligible ... I spoke with the installer and he agreed so cheapest one it was.

They came in and installed it in a day. We have no problems at all, in fact this new unit is light years better than what we had even when it was new. The air in the house is crisp and dry and cools very quickly. In fact I find myself changing the thermostat temperature readings on the house because I think my old unit was so bad that my go- to readings are off.

As an aside my gas company people that came out to give me a price completely lied to me and told me that I needed to do the AC and furnace at the same time because it would be no way to retrofit them. The installer from Lowe's told me that that's absolutely not true and there's no reason to not be able to fit the furnace I have to whatever I want and going forward with the lennox to whatever kind of furnace I may get down the road. I did have the guy give me a brochure and circle the sister furnace in case that goes too in the next year so who knows.

Anyway no complaints here:)

Check with your local utilities for offers. In NJ, the offer we took was on the NJNG website. Briefly, the program is to make homes Energy Star efficient. They do $15,000 worth of work, and charge $10,000. And that amount is paid off in your monthly gas bill, it is $80 a month. Interest free. the balance of $5000 is a grant, free.

New HVAC, new water heater, new venting for dryer, lots of insulation in attic, etc. They test home before and after install. Our summer electric bill is less than 1/2!! And we run AC all summer, 2400 sq. foot house, with a 2 story foyer (inefficient to heat and cool).

One of the best things we have done.

We have a Bryant c/c and furnace. Bryant is made by Carrier and my HVAC guy says it is the same inside as the Carrier. No problems but the units are only 2 years old. We replaced a very old furnace and a/c combo when the provincial gov't was offering a good incentive for high-eff furnaces and a/c units. We also added a good filter unit as we have 5 cats and 3 dogs!
