I just heard this term and realized I did this the last couple of years.

A hush trip is a trip where you are technically not off the clock, but you don't go in to the office.

This was our last Disney trip in late April. I have to admit, it was great! My work never knew. I worked and then hit the parks.

Have you done a "hush trip"

Do you mean working from home, but not actually being home or working the time you are supposed to?
Or do you mean being out of the office on the presumption you are doing something work related but actually not doing that?
I'll confess I've never heard of the term.

Kind of - during pandemic times, I went with my family down to Florida because my MIL was in the ICU. Didn't really tell anyone I was going, but we were fully remote, so they didn't say that the remote work couldn't be done elsewhere.

I also have cut out early this summer to go golfing, but I'm salaried, so I often just take care of work later at night once I'm home.

Going on a vacation but working and not telling them you are not going to Disney or the beach or whatever.

So sit in the hotel room all day working and then do the parks only in the evening? Doesn't seem worth it.

Honestly, I just did the bare minimum and started early. We were usually in the parks by 1pm. We have APs so it wasn't a huge deal.

I guess if you don't have to be there for 8 hours. I would have to be available to clients from 8-4 with a computer in front of me.

My company wouldn't really care where I physically was, but I would need to be online for the expected amount of time -they are flexible with early starts though. I do that most of the time anyway. I don't think I'd want to go work from a room at WDW though - I'd probably go insane!

Well, they got the "hush" part right, because I have never known of a co-worker doing that, nor have I heard of the term.
Until the pandemic, working from home wasn't even an option. It opened a lot of doors for co-workers. Those doors at the employer I worked at when I retired have all closed. All remote work ended June 30th. Every worker (except one) is back to having to be back in the building for their work shifts, so no sneaking off to a vacation destination. And the one worker that isn't, was terminated for not coming back into the building. But it all worked out. She moved 200 miles away 3 years ago to care for her elderly father. Remote work allowed her to continue in her job for 3 years. If the pandemic hadn't happened, she would have moved anyway, and would have had to quit and find another job.

I worked exclusively from home for 12+ years. I have never done this. (I did work remotely from Florida for about 3 weeks because my "snowbird" mother broke her leg and wasn't cleared to travel home for 3 weeks. However, my employer knew/okayed it, I tried to be online "normal hours" as much as possible and I made sure to do at LEAST as much work as I'd have done in a normal day because I didn't want anyone to think I was taking advantage.) I do not think I would ever do a "hush" trip...I'm too much of a rule follower.

Aren't you a teacher?

I have entirely too many meetings for that. While I could probably work elsewhere, most days I would still need to be on my laptop until about 4pm (5pm if we are talking about Florida) I did work from FL for about two weeks after my mom passed away in 2020 but my job knew and they were flexible with my coming and going from online considering the circumstances.
