My sister has XM Radio and after my husband saw it, he is hooked. My sister bought the one that can be used while jogging but it was expensive and since my husband doesn't need that feature, I don't want to buy that one. The problem is that we are not sure what all we need. I don't want to go to the store unprepared since they will probably sell me everything under the sun. This is what he wants:

1. To be able to use it in all of our vehicles (3)
2. To be able to use it in his boat
3. To be able to use it in his outdoor kitchen

Am I right to assume that I need a unit with a home kit and four auto kits? His boat has a cd player and speakers so it would work just like a car, right? Do they even sell them like that? What unit would you recommend for his needs? Thanks for your help. I'd like to surprise him with it but I don't want to buy the wrong thing.

My wife bought me this one for Christmas this year, and it may be the best present she's ever bought me :teeth:

As Dan said, it's easily the best option out there, as we can use it anywhere - car, home, walking, football games, etc. - with the included antenae and the purchase of additional ones, if necessary. Best part is, you don't get forced into buying the extra "boom box", as it has the ability to broadcast to an FM or AM channel that you can then pick up on your home or car stereo equipment.

I have this one, has everything you really need, very complete. If you want additional locations, might be good to purchase additional antennas. I have an extra for when I travel, rent a car. http://www.xm-radio-satellite.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1988

Wow Dan. That's the one my sister has and she paid a lot more for it than what it costs on Amazon. We weren't interested in that one because of the price, but after the rebate, I think it would be the most economical choice. we would still need an antenna for each additional car and the boat - correct? So this unit and three extra antennas should do the trick?

Yep!! Very well priced and so well equipped with all the accessories. A few extra antennas, for convenience, and you are all set. If I take mine out of the car for elsewhere, I just pop off the antenna connection, and take it with. I keep the second antenna in my travel bag.

We also have the MyFi. Well, we don't have it, I bought it for my DH for Valentine's Day, but he was feeling guilty because he wasn't really buying anything for me so he made the mistake of saying I could use it so now we fight over it. Good Valentines present, huh? :rotfl2: We might just have to get another one sometime! My main goal was having something that he could use in our old van since our new van has XM in it, but I don't think he's even used it in the van yet. He works at home and he uses it in his office and we use it for the family. It works well and we are enjoying it. Costs $7/month for the service, I think, since we already pay for the service on the van.
