Husband thinks 2 yo DS will be fine at WDW with no stroller????

He's completely lost his mind! Not only is your 2 year old too little to walk that much, but a stroller will keep him contained and safe - that little body can dart into a crowd and get lost much too easily, and he's too young to know how to find Mommy or Daddy once he gets lost!!

We did it!
Okay, so my 2 yr old was 34 mos old, not 26. There's definitely a difference. We figured we'd rent one as needed but it was never necessary.

I know you're not wanting to do it but in case anyone else is considering it, here's how we did it without exhausted, cranky kids.
We went in the off season (smaller crowds, not as hot) and took lots of breaks. I know it's a lot of walking but it's not a forced march. No more walking than a day at the zoo or mall or whatever. We planned well for downtimes throughout the day - meals, shows, snacks, rests times at the resort, and just sitting and enjoying the atmosphere. It was much easier to me than dealing with a stroller all the time.
You know your family and works best for your child, but I just wanted to say it's not as crazy as it might sound.

We are DEFINATELY getting a stroller......no questions about it.....I think his brain temporarely disconnected and hopefully will be in working order here soon....... He was thinking he loves to run around and walk so much that he figured with one of those harness things he would be ok allday long.....no way, I know those parks inside and out and I wouldn't mind having a stroller by the afternoons, you know..... .........I will be making that purchase before the trip, for sure......

Ok, I think he has lost his mind and is going crazy.....anyone agree with me here.....I am on my way out the door to buy a stroller, pretty sure I am getting a Maclaren and he says that he doesn't need a stroller at all (from home or rental)....he said he likes to walk around and won't want to be in the stroller and that it is a waist of money.....I have been to Disney too many times to know that this would be a HUGE mistake.....anybody think he has lost his mind...... He says that our 26 month old son would like to walk around all day with no stroller and he would be fine ......

I agree that he has lost his ever-lovin' mind! No stroller for a 2 yr. old?!?!?!?!? I would never consider it, not even using a sling, which I do all the time. If I were you I'd secretly set aside a cash fund just for the number of days you will need a stroller rental, go without a stroller, make Dad carry the boy, and then say, "I told you so," as you peel off the $7 or whatever it is now to rent a stroller. At 10 am.

Your dh is insane. My boys are very active and my 4 yo doesn't use a stroller at home, but you bet he will at Disney!

I always feel sorry for those little kids walking the long days at the park. Last Sept. we saw many of them, maybe b/c the parks were so empty (??), and you could just see how stressed out they were. And that was bright & early in the morning! I'd hear parents "threatening" their children with "then we'll just have to get a stroller" and the kids would be yelling "NO!", but it didn't take a genius to see whether or not they wanted one, they NEEDED one.

Yeah, go get the stroller. It's a necessity.

We bought a lightweight double stroller for ds (4 1/2) and dd (2). We were going to rent one there until a good/smart friend told us to bring a stroller. At the end of a long night at WDW no one wants to carry sleeping children when you can have them in a stroller and just push. I would definately bring a stroller.

Bring that stroller! My son was 6 when we went and still needed it. It is waaaayyy too much walking for alittle person!

My 6 yo ds used a stroller the whole time. Although we had to call it a "cart", he would never sit in a "stroller". It made it so much easier being able to keep moving and I always knew where he was, since when he's walking he is VERY slow and always seems to be a step behind. When he was in the "cart" there was no chance of us being separated.

We went in 2003 with an almost 3 year old. She is very active and NEVER takes naps. But let me tell you that she fell asleep in her stroller several times on our trip. Plus I liked that fact that if they are in the stroller, you have a less stressed time - not worrying so much about losing them. We are going this July and she will be almost 5. I am looking into buying a fairly inexpensive lightweight stroller for her. She does not need a stroller now, but when we go, I know she will.

We were at WDW in December with a very active 2 year old, and I don't know what we would have done without her stroller. She took her naps in there, and after walking for awhile she was definately tired from walking, especially if it is warm out!!!

Tell your husband that he will be sorry without a stroller for a 2 year old. Even kids that are 4 or 5 years old get tired and want a break to ride in a stroller!!!

I just purchases a Mac volo for our 4.5 dd. There was no way I was bringinging her without a stroller. When we took her at 3, she was thrilled to ride and watch and take in the sites. There is no way a 2 yr old can walk those long days. Not to mention all you are going to do is chase him around. My dd even napped in her stroller (which she would never do at home). It can get crowded and I would be so nervous that I would lose sight of her if she wasn't in her stroller at times.

I wish I had a stroller for myself! It is hard on adults!

I'm a little late to the party - but BRING THE STROLLER. I couldn't imagine not having one.

We've taken our daughter, who is now 6.5 the past two Decembers and, in her case, there is absolutely no way she could've handled all the walking we did w/o a stroller. In fact, by the end of the week, Mom and Dad were wishing *they* had strollers! My advice would be to bring/rent the stroller upon entry the first day and let your child walk as far as he/she can, then pop 'em in the stroller and let them ride as needed. Another benefit is that you will make better time between destinations in the park when they have wheels and also aren't able to get sidetracked as easily. I'll have my (by then) 7 YO daughter with me at MK this summer and she *wants* the stroller (which she calls a "buggy" since "strollers" are for babies...)
