Hello - we are going to WDW May 6th for the 1st time in 10 years and are staying at the Poly. When I told my husband about the renos at Poly he freaked (he wants to stay at GF but I thought Poly better for a family trip with 5 yr old son). Me and my big mouth  . I have read Tikiman's updates (thanks for all the info!) but was wondering if anyone has just returned and how noticeable the renos are in the GCH - is it a work in progress? I have not read anything about the grounds, so I assume all ok on that front. If there is obvious construction going on he wants me to look at switching to GF...thanks for your help!

I wouldn't worry about it. My bf and I were there in Dec. and we went to Capt. Cooks at 2 am and that's when we saw construction workers rehabbing the GCH. There was dust all over the place, sheetrock on the floor, light fixtures torn out of the ceiling, wires sticking out.

The next morning, we went back to the GCH and that same hallway was just like new! No signs of construction at all- it was really impressive. They do a good job of hiding rehab stuff, We'll be there in early May, too and I'm not worried at all!

Thanks - that is exactly what I was hoping...have a great trip!!!!

Anne, I just had to reply after reading your thread title! HUSBAND IS FREAKING...LOL~! Hope he calms down before your visit, and enjoys his time at the Poly. I'm sure he'll LOVE it~!! :goodvibes  :cloud9: :wizard:

Enjoy your planning! :wave2:

We just returned from the Poly Mar 12-16. Except for a door that was being painted at Tokelou, we didn't see any renovations going on. I wouldn't worry about it.

Have fun!

They should begin work on Tahiti and Tonga will be almost done. I am not sure how far along they are with the GCH but I am told it is not that torn up. There is nothing going on around the grounds, pool or beaches as far as I know. There have been bigger things going on when I was there before and you hardly could notice it.

Aloha

Steve

We were there 3/22-3/28 and saw zero workers or any mess at all. There's a modestly walled-off area in the GCH across from the gift stores, but it didn't affect us at all. No noise, no activity at all.

Think the atmosphere of the Poly. is just what your hubby needs to chill out! It's a lovely lovely place, and we had a fabulous family vacation.
