I know it shouldn't matter......BUT I was just telling one of my "friends" about my up coming Disney trip and she just doesn't get it. She was just saying what a waste of money it was and don't we get bored of doing the "same thing" all the time. Don't you just get tried of explaining your disney trips to people? We do they have to be so opinionated?

I know you all understand.
:earsgirl:

I have stopped telling people. I just tell them we are going on vacation.

Absolutely, I understand, pixiechick! My mother thinks we're idiots for constantly going to WDW. I just ignore her--she and I have very different ideas of vacations.

Now on the upside, I bring my WDW scrapbooks in to work after vacations and I've converted a lot of people. DH has people at his office emailing me for info. So, just ignore those stick in the muds who think we're crazy. Less people in the parks for us to bother with!

Lucky for me, everyone I know loves WDW! Those that I think may not understand, I just say, "We're going to Florida".

It does make me sad though, that they'll never know the magic! :wizard:

I don't know if your friend has ever been to Disney, but I think some people who have never been there don't "get it" because, well, because they've never been there.

I have to admit that a friend and her husband spent their honeymoon in Disney and I didn't understand why you would want to spend your honeymoon there. Why would adults-only want to go there? That was before I ever went to Disney World. Now I understand it.

As for going there repeatedly, I wish I could. Last year was our first trip there. I know we didn't even get to see 1/4 of what is there to see and experience. I can't wait to go back.

When people ask me where I am going, I just say "Where do you think?" and laugh. No need to explain to anyone why we go there so much.

Yes, I have friends and family who don't understand why we want to go back to WDW.

Don't you wish they would just listen and be happy for you?? I didn't tell many people where we were going on our last trip. When they heard the news they kept asking "Why didn't you tell me?" Then they would tell me why they don't think it's good to keep going to WDW... I wanted to scream at them "This is why I didn't tell you we were going, because I don't want to hear you tell me why I shouldn't go!!!" :teeth:

I'm over my rant now!! I'm sorry your friend was not more supportive! :wave2:

I am so lucky--my family is Disney crazy. My mom always 'got' it--in fact, she made sure I joined my brother on a trip with his family. (she told him & my SIL they'd have a built-in babysitter if I went, and when they agreed, she called the airlines & made my reservations!) One of my sisters is about to leave on her annual trip! My friends understand it. In fact, 2 of my friends ENCOURAGED me to go this year when I wasn't sure.

Am I lucky or what? :earsgirl: :Pinkbounc

Yeah, we don't talk about it either. We are at the exact opposite end of the country from Florida so not too many people seem to take vacations from here to there. People from the west coast seem to go to Seattle, Los Angeles, or Hawaii for vacations. I love going to WDW more than some of the other members of our family but as long as I am planning the vacations, that's where we go! Once we get down there, the rest of the gang doesn't want to leave either!

One of the many things I like about going to WDW is all the walking we do. We have to walk before the trip to get in shape for it and then we walk every day, all day long for the entire vacation. How many vacations can you say you get such a healthy benefit out of it? And the fact that we have never seen everything there is to see and do is always a reason to go back....among others! :teeth:

My mother flips out every time I tell her that I'm going to WDW again. Just last week when she found out I was going soon she told me I "needed to be psychoanalyzed". :confused3 I think maybe she's the one who needs the help! :rotfl:

Us too. We only tell our families "where" we are going - and THAT'S bad enough. (They don't get it either and can be kind of snippy about it.)

I'll never understand why people think it's any of their business what you choose to do on vacation :confused3 and why they are so mean about it.

Ugh. I hear it constantly. "Didn't you just go there?" "No, that was 2 years ago." "Nothing changed in 2 years, why are you going back? Isn't that boring?" "NO." ::walk away:: That's my approach. ;)

There are always gonna be those that just don't get it. I have been trying to convience my best friend that she and her DH would love it, but she just nods and says maybe. I have given up trying to explain how wonderful it is, if they don't get it by now, it's thier loss. My friends and family know my love of all things Disney and have stopped trying to understand. They know the more they bag on me for it the more I will try and convience them how great it is!

Everyone I know thinks I'm strange because I love WDW so much and we vacation there every year. But I really wish someone would explain to me why those people who go to the beach year after year never get any flak. Now to me, THAT is boring. At the beach one day is the same as the next - heck, one hour is pretty much the same as the next; yet at WDW there is so much variety. I just don't get it! :confused3

Never understood the big beach attraction. One day OK, but a week?? Borrrring!

I LOVE the variety at WDW. :sunny:

Oh I can totally relate! What gets me is I actually find myself defending myself and trying to "explain" why we're going again :confused3 . I finally decided I just don't care anymore. We do like to go to the beach too though ;) ! Now if I could only figure out a way to spend half of our time at the beach and the other half at Disney! :goodvibes

I get that all the time. Just ignore them. It is your money, your vacation, your time. They have absolutely no say. My friends either hate disney or have never been there. My one friend (who is also in band with me) HATES it. I already told her that when we go in February with band, we WILL NOT be roommates (we were at band camp). She complains constantly about anything and everything and I just can't deal with that when I am in my favorite place on earth. Another friend of mine went once and she doesn't really like it. Of course, I understand why she doesn't. Her mom made her and her brother run through the parks trying to do everything. She said that they literally ran from ride to ride. That kind of ruined it for her. Honestly, I feel bad for people who don't "get" it. They are missing out on a lot. My friend has a quote about color guard, but I believe it is the same about Disney. "Disney, for those who get it, no explanation necessary. For those who don't, no explanation possible."

You could drive down to Cocoa Beach for a couple days. It's a little over an hour away from Disney. We did that when we went to Universal. We drove down to Cocoa Beach for 4 days I think it was and went to Universal for 5 days. I hated Universal by the way. I will stay faithful to the Mouse.

(Sorry, I couldn't figure out how to add the quote after I already put my other post up.)

I typically go to WDW 5-6 times each year. You BET I get a lot of the people who don't "get it". One of the people who used to have the hardest time with it was one of my co-workers. He finally went to WDW for the first time this year with his kids. He came back singing a different tune! He said he totally understands why I feel so happy there. He is now planning another trip with his family.
