We are leaving Friday afternoon for Disneyland, and I have never been inside the Golden Horseshoe. Is there a show? I heard it is fast food service, but how do I find out if there is a show? :Pinkbounc

~Hollyster2 here...forgot again to sign out Ashleigh before I replied to a post.

There is a show playing there; it's "Billy Hill and the Hillbillies". It plays about 4-5 times a day. The times are posted in the schedule you get when you enter the park. There are tables and chairs on the main floor and the balcony. They have chicken fingers, mozzerella sticks, desserts, and other stuff. The show is 4 guys that play fiddles, mandolins, etc. and it's sort of a "Hee Haw" type country show. Fun, and a nice place to take a break from the sun and heat.

How hard it is to get into this show, and how far in advance should we get in line for it? Thank you so much! :wizard:

Hollyster2 Here Still...computer will not allow me to log Tallmidgetgirl Ashleigh off, so I am still posting under her name. :badpc:

Arrive 15 to 20 minutes early and you should have no trouble getting a table. If you want one of the front tables or one of the boxes to the sides of the stage, try getting in line around the time the previous show is letting out. Showtimes are 11:45, 1:15, 3:00, 4:15, and 5:30. The show is about 30 minutes long, though I've seen it go a little over that on occasion. It's a great show--one of my favorites. In fact, I no longer consider it a trip to DL w/o seeing my Billlys.

I will take your advice on getting in line early! Thank you!!

I can't believe we have never seen that show. We have been to Disneyland so many times, and always seem to pass it by. Not this time hopefully!!! :sunny:

We went to see the BH show in early August at the Golden Horseshoe. Everyone raved about it, so our hopes were high. The show was not as good as we were expecting.

We got there 45 minutes early for the 5:30 show, and were the fourth group in line. We got a table right in front. We ate mozarella sticks and chicken strips. The food was fine.

You may really like the show. Many others do. We would skip it on our next trip. Have fun.

We like the Billy Hill and the Hillbilly's show a lot. They have great chili in a breadbowl and you can get it with or without a mound of cheese or even onions. The one thing we always get when we go though....is the chocolate cake!!!!It is sooo yummy and our entire family can share just one slice...it is that big! This show is a great place to relax and eat while you are being entertained. Two thumbs up! :teeth:

The Golden Horseshoe is one of the places on our list to try because we have never ever been there. We will watch the show this time too hopefully. Now the kind posters who have mentioned the chocolate cake factor have just sealed the deal. My husband feels we must try all pieces of chocolate cake in Disneyland, and pass on all knowledge of chocolate cake like those who have done so before us.
Thanks again to all the responses! :wave2:

We enjoy the show. They'll let the kids sit down front. We usually go off-season and have never had a problem getting a seat about 15 minutes before the show. Food service is only during show times, I believe, though there are windows outside for other times. It is a nice place to cool off and have a snack.

Yes, well the chocolate cake was worth mentioning.....with its five layers of moist goodness....and the most indulgent fudge frosting....and mini chocolate chips on the sides. >drooling< :worship:

Can anyone explain more about the show outside the Golden Horseshoe? It was two guys, one dressed as a mayor and the other a cowboy. I took a photo of them, but my mom and I didn't want to stand around to watch. It was very hot that day and those poor guys must have been dying!

That would be Laughing Stock Co. (and actually it's 3 people--you must not have stuck around for Sallie Mae's entrance). I'm a big fan of theirs. Actually, today and Tuesday are the last 2 days for one of the original members. He usually plays Clem, but lately has been more in one of the other roles (not giving anything away). They're hilarious and for me, it doesn't matter how hot it is, if it's a good cast, I'll be there for all 6 shows.

We saw the show! It was really funny! I was surprised at how much seating was inside too. Before I was always sure that the size of the line was more than enough to fill up the place, but I was wrong!!
We tried the chicken strips-they were ok, the Chili Fries were GREAT! The parfait was good, and the chocolate cake could have been awesome, but it did not taste fresh. We plan to give it another try on another trip. I cannot believe we had never seen that show before. Thanks to all who posted tips for me! :goodvibes

*bump*

Anyone else have an opinion about this show? It sounds like it might be fun to stop by for lunch and be entertained at the same time.

Would a 5yo (who does enjoy music) like it? How about people who generally detest country music? If it's more jokes and fun bluegrass fiddlin', that's one thing...

Back in August I caught Billy Hill & the Hillbillies doing a rendition of the Beatles. It was hilarious and I recorded a video of it with my digi cam. They wore black wigs so they would have the hair style down and bobbed their heads just liked them. :teeth:

The Golden Horseshoe has really good mozzarella sticks. Yum! I also like their chili cheese fries and chili w/cheese in a bread bowl.
