"Hurry & fly away to Neverland before it's too late!" Trip wrap up page 30

Great update! Looking forward to hearing more about your trip. I'm living vicariously! We are planning on a Florida trip - but sadly US/BG/SW and not Disney 100% of the time! We are planning on MVMCP so at least I won't go all the way to Florida and not have a little Disney!

Can't wait to hear more! popcorn::

Great job Vanessa!

Okay, I'll try and explain where the Hidden Mickey is to the best of my ability. So you're in the fast pass line..facing forward..and almost up to where you give the CM your FP and go in to watch the movie. There's a workdesk with some shelves and cubby holes to your left. There's a squishy-ball on one of the shells that has Mickey on it.

Sorry you're not doing more Disney but MVMCP sounds great. I would love to do it. You'll get to see the decorations!

Thanks Tinkgurl. I think I know where this is. I'll be looking next time whenever that is.

I forgot to mention 2 things on the last post. On the way out we picked up another FP for Kim Possible just in case we had enough time to do another mission. Also when we got back to the room the girls each had a birthday card from Mickey along with a photpass card with a 20% discount. Danielle handed me hers, Bailey held on to hers and used it every chance she could. I think we ended up with about 4 different cards by the end of the trip.

Once we reached our nice cool room and moved the stuffed animals out of the way it was naptime. I like a good nap but I'm really just a power napper. The girls laid down but didn't go to sleep. Tena was soon snoring away. I rested for about 30 minutes. Once I was up the girls changed in record time and we headed out to the pool while Tena continued to snooze. I packed a beach bag with towels, water, shampoo and creme rinse. To save time once the girls were done I had them shower and wash their hair in the bathrooms by the pool. This really helped in our turn around time. I don't have any pictures I just didn't really want to tote the camera around at this point. Once the girls were cleaned up we headed back to the room and woke Tena up. The girls dressed and I took a quick bath to refresh and changed my underthings. Danielle insisted on wearing a different shirt than the rest of us, but she was still in yellow.

My plan was to be at the bus stop for 4:30. We wanted to be at the American Adventure for the 5:45 performance of Hotel California. This was something Tena really wanted to see. She's a big Eagles fan and I thought it would be relaxing. I don't remember what time we actually made it to the bus but I don't think we were late. Of course this was our first day so everyone was at least trying to stay on schedule.

We took pictures when we walked back in. I mistakenly already posted this. They would be the ones where Danielle is wearing the different shirt. We walked back to to World Showcase to pick up our KP mission in Norway. It was all the way in Japan. We definitely didn't have time to do this before the show. We held onto the kimcunicator just in case. Now it was time to head to the American Adventure. I wanted to walk. I always walk and never take the boat. Of course I like to walk. Tena wanted to take the boat. I'm going stray a little and give you some more background. Tena was hit by an 18 wheeler in 2002. Since then she has had two surgeries on her neck to fuse her vertebra. It's been about 5 years since her last surgery. At first she really had a hard time and couldn't do much at all. Now she can't bend her neck or turn like most people and she's not suppose to lift anything that's heavy. When this all happened she got the handicap parking pass and her doctor renews it every time for her. To look at her you wouldn't think she's handicapped. But she loves her parking pass. A couple of weeks before our trip she came to Baton Rouge and we went to the Tanger Outlet mall in Gonzales. She wanted to pick up some small backpacks like we had from the Totes store. Now there is a pretty big distance between one end and the other. We usually park close to where we want to start and just walk. Although it can be pretty far you're usually going into stores here and there so you're not walking the whole time. On this trip we started about 1/4 way in. I parked there and proceeded to walk from store to store. Of course we weren't going into every store. Tena proceeded to move her car 3 times so that she wasn't walking in between our stops. Joking around I told her she better start walking because there was no handicap parking between attractions at Disney. I think about a week and a half before we went she finally took my advice. She has no precautions for walking. In fact she's not suppose to stay in one position for too long.

I knew by this point she was tired of walking and she had done well up until now so I caved and we took the boat to Germany. From there we went to the American Adventure and found seats for the show. While waiting the girls went to the Kidcot and got there masks worked on and their passports stamped. I got a funnel cake (did you know you can't use a snack credit for this) and a frozen lemonade. We sat back and enjoyed the concert. I tried to take pictures but they just didn't come out. It was really nice and Tena really enjoyed it.

After the show we walked back to Germany and took the boat back to the beginning of World Showcase. We were running out of time. It was time to make some choices. We had a FP for Soarn', Test Track and KP. Since we had a dinner ADR for Coral Reef at 7:45 we knew we needed to stay in Future World. So Test Track it would be. We parked Tena at her smoking spot and headed for Test Track.

By now it was getting close to dinner time so we headed to Coral Reef.

We checked in around 7:35 and they said they were running behind and it would be about 30 minutes. I mentioned to the hostess that we were celebrating 2 birthdays. When I made my ADR it was put on all our reservations that Danielle and Bailey were celebrating their birthdays. There were LOTS of people waiting. This was not starting off too well. I've eaten at Coral Reef 2 other times. My first time was on Dennis and I's adult only trip in 2002. This was also his first trip. This was our first table service meal and we loved it. We sat right next to the tank and had a great meal. When we went back for New Years 2006 we wanted to share this experience with the girls. We had an ADR for New Year's Eve. Again we had a long wait, or waiter was slow and didn't seem to be all there. But he was nice. The meal took a very long time but we did enjoy the food. It certainly was not near the experience we had our first time but it wasn't horrible. I had really built up how neat it would be to "eat with the fishes". You can't do this just anywhere. So eventually we found a seat and waited and waited. I think we were finally seated about 8:25. Tena was worried they wouldn't feed us since the park closed at 9. But no worries there. I don't remember our waitresses name but she was very hurried and distracted. When we ordered drink we got the girls the specialty drinks with the glow tinks. Our first meal and of course they had to have the tinks?

I think I ordered a diet coke and Tena ordered a water with lemon. And here's where thinks went bad. Tena can't have caffiene. She had already had a sprite and lemonade that day and wanted something else. When she ordered the waitress asked her if she wanted some sweetner with that. Tena took this as a put down. Her complaint was she was accusing her of being cheap. She said it was said in a sarcastic way. I didn't hear it so I can't say if it was. But if Tena feels slighted she doesn't drop it. I don't like confrontations. So here I was trying to appease Tena. Oh the stress. We ordered our food. I really hope no one spit in it, because the waitress knew Tena was upset and I know she overheard Tean complaining about her.
We were seated in the very last tier so you really couldn't see much. We sent the girls down to try and look at the fishes. Right after they came back the waitress came by and asked if the girls would like to go down and take a look. See she wasn't all bad. We had to tell her they just went.

Danielle had the kid's grilled mahi mahi.

I had the adult grilled mahi mahi.

Tena had the blackened catfish. Sorry no picture and I don't remember what Bailey had. Danielle and I enjoyed our food. Tena liked her catfish but didn't read the entire description and didn't realize it came with grits. In our family we don't eat grits.

Danielle enjoying her drink.

Our food came out really fast so that was great. The girls had ice cream for desert. I had the tropical fruit mango sorbet.

Tean had the chocolate wave.

The deserts were good! I really enjoyed mine. It was really light and refreshing.

For being sat so late it really didn't take long to get served. When the bill was brought Tena didn't want to tip at all and I know she heard us discussing it. She really didn't expect a tip at this point. I think we settled on about $7.

Overall it wasn't horrible. We did wait too long. They did totally forget we were celebrating birthdays. The food was good and we did get it pretty fast. Not fast enough to hit Soarin' or KP but we did beat the Illumination crowd out.

So raise your hand if you've ever seen a snake loose in Disney? Well on this trip I saw two. The first was spotted when stopped for a potty break on our way out. We stopped at the bathrooms by the lockers. Laying under one of the benches was a small black snake. And no I can't tell you what it was because I didn't get that close. We did what we had to do and got out of there. On our way out we dropped the kimcunicator off at the shop where they sell pictures.

Here's our lovely picture taken on the way out.

The Pop bus stop is the farthest away at Epcot. It was a long walk. There was only one other family there when we reached it. We watched buses come and go and waited for ours. Tena had a sarcastic comment everytime it wasn't our bus. I wouldn't say we waited for a long time just no one likes waiting. After a while the guy in front of us turned around and asked her "Why so sarcastic? You're on vacation." Then she proceeded to tell the story from diner and how the waitress had ruined her dinner. She doesn't know how to let it go. But I do think the guys comment helped her to see it wasn't all that bad.

Anyone out there follow the College World Series this year? Well if you did you know that tonight was the first of three games for the championship and guess who was playing. The LSU Tigers and Texas Longhorns. In our household we bleed purple and gold. The only regret I had for going to Disney was I was going to miss the games. Of course not enough not to go. When we got back to the room the game was still on due to going into extra innings. We got to watch the last inning and half. We got to see LSU win the first game!!! GEAUX TIGERS!! I was excited but didn't scream or yell. I can't say the same for Bailey. If anyone was in the rooms next to, above or below I'm truly sorry if she woke you up.

Baths were taken and everyone got ready for bed. We had another rope drop the next morning. I requested another wake up call for the girls and off to bed we went.

All in all even though we had a rough start and a rough meal it was a good day. We rode Soarin', Test Track twice, we saw Hotel California, I got to see the Holy Grail and the girls got lots of birthday wishes. One Epcot day down and one to go.

Up Next our appt with the Yeti?

Wow I would have been crossed that they didn't wait for me at Soarin and then not even ride it!

KP sounds good though and I can't wait to try it with the girls!

Sorry about your waitress at CR and wow you did have to wait a long time!!!

I don't think she meant to leave me behind she just didn't understand where the entrance to ride was and when Danielle tried to correct her . . . well . ..

Your girls are going to love KP.

I think I'll stay away from CR for a while. I booked it when I thought Dennis was going and Danielle wanted to go again.

How many more sleeps until you go?

Vanessa, Now I know I could NEVER vacation with your sister. There can't be 2 of us. I'm just like that except I would have ask for a manager. After I spoke to one I would have dropped. If I couldn't speak to a manager I would have spoke to the waitress then asked for a new one.

I love Disney and everything about it but I don't pay to be annoyed LOL. I use to be a waitress and do understand the stress they are under. I do allow time if it is busy to serve us, if they make a mistake I never go all NUTZ on them but I would NEVER put up with anyone giving me lip. I usually very easy to please. My saying is "Don't give it if you can't handle it back" oh and I can give it out. I'm a Jersey Girl LOL I'm sorry but that's just the way I am.

Onto the restaurant: I ate there once 2002 and will never again. Hubby had some sort of fish meal. My mom & I ate off the kids menu since almost everything on the adult menu had some sort of fish included, we don't eat seafood. The waiter explained that he had to double the order and then double our price because we are not allowed to eat off the kid menu. OK not a problem. I love chicken. The chicken we had was dry as hell. It was not worth half the price of half the order. I love chicken and eat it all the time. I couldn't understand how you can ruin chicken. Anyway, Did I complain? NOT one bit (well, I did to hubby and mom - who agreed with me but nothing to others). I ate a bite and drink a sip. I made myself believe that the money I paid, paid for the view since we were right on the window and the Dolphin kept coming over. I love dolphins.

Ugh, I'm sorry about dinner. I've been in situations where a member of my dining party, like my FIL, begins to make a fuss and it gets so uncomfortable its hard to enjoy myself. The desserts do look good. I love the celebration balloon on the wave dessert. Cute!

My hubby would have enjoyed Hotel California. He's a big Eagles fan as well.

My hand is raised over the snake spotting! We saw a corn snake climbing slowly up a tree in the WS right before Illuminations. My eldest DD was really hoping we'd let her bring it home!:scared1:

The picture of all of you in front of the ball at night is beautiful.:goodvibes

This was our only bad TS meal. One out of 8 isn't too bad. Some our our meals were more Magical than others.

You got close enough to ID it! We have another encounter later.

I love this picture. I'm so glad I did the photopass. We have another one at night with the Castle that I really like too.

Helloooooooooooooo! Wow, I am so sorry that it has taken me this long to come over and read your report! You crack me up. I would be a total mess if my plans were not executed exactly as I wanted! On our first trip with our kids, the MOST important moment for me was going to be the rope drop ceremony at MK. I wanted this to be the first things that my kids saw. I daydreamed about that moment for months! Then the day comes and long story short, we didn't make it. I cried, like a baby. We ended up seeing it another morning but it just wasn't the same. Uhhhhh, oh well. I did learn that I need to be more flexilble on that trip. We had a great time and it wasn't the end of the world.

How fun to have an all girls trip. I want to do that one day with DD.

Ok, and I have to ask, would you happen to be related to Juliette Massey? Just a shot in the dark. She's my godmother and lives right behind me in Old Goodwood. Just had to ask! Been meaning to for long time;)

Can't wait to read more! And BTW, you're doing great for a first time TR!!!

I have four sisters and we all have diferent personalities. I have gone on vacation with them and just had to grin and bear alot! Love the trip report!

It's so nice to be around people who understand.

It was fun. We skipped all the boy stuff and spent more time on girly things.

No, I'm sorry I don't know her. The only family Dennis has here is his Dad. I'm only a Massey by marriage. I'm a Landreneau by birth. My Dad's family are from Big Mamou.

Can't wait to read more! And BTW, you're doing great for a first time TR!!!

Thanks! Reading every one reports sure has helped.

:goodvibes We ate the Coral Reef once and have no intention of going back. The food and service were good, not great, but they lost our reservation and special bday menu I had made our for our friend's bday. :rolleyes1

I just have to mention something a little off topic. Not too far. My last trip post talked about LSU playing in the College World Series. Well Michelle my oldest daughter is a Sophomore at LSU. Last Monday was her first day of class. I got the funniest texts from her. The first one talked about having "a moment with Blake Dean".:dance3: He's the DH on the baseball team. "Their eyes met". What really happened was they were both coming out of the same building and he dropped a paper and she opened the door for him. Well the next text was she was walking to her next class and Blake Dean and Anthony Ranaudo (pitcher) were walking if front of her. But then it got even better they're in her class. Turns out she has a class full of baseball and football players. She was going to drop the class but not now. Of course I don't think it will be much of a class on Friday since the football team is leaving Thursday for the game in Washington. Oh to be young again.

We go no birthday love there either. There are so many other places I want to try in Epcot that I don't think I'll miss it at all.

I have 3 full sisters and 1 half sister. So far I've taken 2 and we've had some good times and some "grin and bear it " times too.

Michelle's 19th Birthday!
The Plan-AK for rope drop, break, DHS in the afternoon and dinner at Wilderness Lodge at Whisper Canyon Cafe. And if we're really adventurous 10:30 Fantasmic!

Sometime during the night it really rained with thunder and lightning. When I woke up it was still drizzling. But that was not going to stop us. We had already decided that if it was raining any day we would just use our ponchos and keep going. When I went outside to look around it was still dripping but it felt nice and cool. At 6:50 Stitch once again called to wake the girls up. This time I hit the intercom button so they could both hear the message. Soon everyone was up and getting ready. Due to the face that LSU was victorious the night before I chose to wear my collared LSU shirt to proclaim my support. I had Danielle wear a shorts outfit that was a little heavy since it was cool. Of course it didn't stay cool especially at AK, in fact it ended up being downright steamy. Poor Danielle.

Again we were in the food court for a little after 7:30. Since I had what for me was a big breakfast the day before I wanted to go lighter. I had a fruit cup and water. Danielle had another breakfast platter. I would come to regret that small breakfast. When in Disney I need to eat a good breakfast to have the energy to keep going. By a little after 8 we were once again buying more pins for trading. By the time we were loading on the bus the rain had stopped.

We were at the turnstiles before opening. Once the park opened we made our way with the rest of the crowd across the bridge to see the opening show. We ended up being a little far back. The girls stood on the edge of something so they could see.

If you have ever seen the little show you know they make a list of the things you need for the day. While seeing the list I realized we forgot one of those things. Due to it being raining and overcast we forgot to put sunblock on:eek:. As the show was ending we started moving towards the right. I was going to make a run for FPs for Everest. There was no way Danielle was going to stay behind with Tena this time so I was going to take her with me. Since Danielle was coming with me Bailey wanted to come too. So, we showed Tena where the bathrooms were by the entrance to Dinoland then helped her map out where the smoking area was and told her to meet us in Asia. When the rope dropped we were off. I'm a pretty fast walker. I walk fast in everyday life. Danielle was doing pretty good keeping up but Bailey was holding us back. I warned the girls that if they went with me they had to keep up. Poor Bailey she didn't really have good shoes on for all the walking and since this was our second day her feet were starting to feel it. We finally made it to the FP machines and I grabbed the 3 of us FPs. We called Tena and had her meet up with us at the beginning of Asia. With FPs in hand we went to ride Kali River Rapids. This was something all of us could enjoy. There was no line this early in the day. We walked straight on. Three out of four us donned ponchos. Danielle choose not to and of course she and Bailey ended up in the seats that get the wettest. There are always a set of seats that get the most water. You can tell who's going to get in by where you're sitting win you go downhill.

After Kali we still had some more time before we could get FPs for Kilimanjoaro Sararis so we took a walk in the Maharajah Jungle Trek.
We saw this guy.

The Bats!

Continued in next post. . .

And this snake!

The tigers weren't doing much so we took advantage of the lovely scenery.

Ever the Drama Queen!

Ever since our 2004 trip we have really enjoyed looking for the different birds.

It was now time to head to Africa. Along the way Bailey met Flick.

More to come. . .

Danielle didn't care to meet Flick but she did enjoy the drums.

We also ran into our Jungle friends King Louie and Baloo. I begged Danielle to get in line. You see I'm a scrapbooker and I did a swap for these two characters a couple of years ago. I did a really good paper piecing and I'm dying to use it. So you see she just had to take this picture. Plus she's never meet King Louie.

Now I can finally use that swap!

I ran to get our Safaris FPs while the girls were in line. FPs in hand we parked Tena at the smoking area by Tusker House. We took the path back to Asia. Along the way we stopped to meet Turk.

I didn't have to twist too hard this time. Danielle has never met Turk.

Up Next Everest and an unusual Safaris.

I know what swaps you are talking about ;)
I'm making a list of swaps I have and bringing it with me.

I'm having the same problem with Zach taking photos.
In order for Zach to take photos with the characters or something I want, I have to promise to buy him something at the end of the day.
I think the little bugger is gonna be a bookie when he gets older :lmao:
If you borrow $5.00 from him, you have to give him $10 back and I'm not kidding LOL.
If you don't want to pay the interest then don't borrow the money, that's what he tells you.
If I want him to take a photo, he says whats in it for me. I used to say "breathing". but he caught on to that one. :rolleyes1

Knowing I am a scrapbooker he holds it over my head. What a smart kid  So glad I only have one or I'd be broke :rotfl2:

I thought I was behind on your posts glad I'm not. Now that I have time to read more bring them on baby LOL
