Hurricane Watchers--Post Here!

Since this thread has gotten so long, I can't find who posted for the www.wxrisk.com updates. He has been on point days before the other forecasts have been showing! Also the wunderground has been more on point than most. Wxrisk predicted earlier this week where it is now supposed to make landfall. I'm going with his forecast for this trip and not the hyped up media.:worship:
Thanks to the poster!:cool1:

You are right on the size, and every thing else you said. it seems to me some people would like to only hear the happy news of the storm... which is, we don't know yet. it's not an exact science. the NAt Hurricaine center, all the weather nit wits on the Tv weatherentertainment channel, whatever... Issac is not making things easy, and very few of these storms are predicable, few are this nuts however... the storm is huge! that 600 miles is just the main body, the feeder bands will go out,, listen, do this . go to one of the sits with a map, and use your pen or fingers and get a good measure of the storm, now, keep that measuement and move it up onto the mainland... it covers from like boston to Jacksonville... it's a big guy...
the planes that went in to night will feed the new and better info into the computers and the give the models more accurate info to work with, 5am advisory should reflect that if you go to a weather underground, or maybe foxnews... I think weather channel's JIm Cantorre is getting better at going his own way and they are letting him more and more... but don't bet on that. Its
a good place to get the general FYI...
keep checking your airlines , they will start changing flights into Orlando soon I'd think. maybe Friday early.

Sorry...but as of this morning on Good Morning America and convention is on for Tampa as the storm has moved more into the west and while yes...heavy wind and rain expected...nothing bad enough to move the convention. Guess you were wrong.:thumbsup2

I feel bad wishing for it to move west, but I am really really wishing it will continue on westward.

You're not the only one :thumbsup2 . My anxiety is through the roof right now . My brother refuses to drive if our flight is canceled and Amtrak and Greyhound prices are through the roof and cost way more than our flights so if our flight is canceled were totally screwed and will miss days out of our vacation:(

Looking good for getting there on Tuesday, unless this crazy thing shifts again. I feel very relieved. McButterPants, don't know what you're looking at for Amtrak but prices are very reasonable, I thought-- $412 for three of us one way from Philly. Doesn't look like we'll be needing to make the change, though.

So what is the latest Isaac forecast today? Will we be getting heavy rains and winds next week in WDW?

Well...that's what I read for Mon. and Tues.....but when I went to weather.com and looked at the forecast it only said 50% chance of rain Mon. and Tues??

I, for one, am feeling much more comfortable about my trip than I was yesterday at this time when my anxiety level peaked, for sure.

The forecasts for Orlando into early next week are not showing any signs of complete washout type rain days, they are 40 - 60% chance of showers only. The wind forecast is high for a few days though, Monday being the highest at 22mph. Certainly nothing that has me freaking out anymore. Of course long range forecasts (really anything over 24 hours) are really just best guesses.

Of course, I will continue to obsess over this storm's development. Everything I'm reading is suggesting that it's not a very well organized storm at all and definitely not developing as quickly as originally anticipated. But, that also leads to lots of uncertainty, especially when you get out beyond 48 hours. So for sure, we should all be keeping an eye.

I also really hope that it continues to struggle and doesn't develop into a stronger storm or hurricane, for the sake of those who will be in it's path, wherever it finally decides to make landfall.

They probably don't know yet. At this point, all I care about is getting there. I can deal with the rain as long as we can get to Orlando.

Will we be getting heavy rains and winds next week in WDW?

That's what we're planning for. We're bringing ponchos, full lightweight rain suits, waterproof shoes and quick drying clothes. If the parks are open, (seems likely at this point) we'll be there walking about in the rain.

The airlines will do everything to get the planes in an dout of Orlando. It's farther east than Tampa's airport so it should be okay with occasional delays for winds. We've been going down in aug/September timeframe for years and the hurricanes are not a big deal unless they are over a category 3. enjoy your time at WDW - there is alot of things to do on rainy days!!:surfweb:

I'm sure the people of New Orleans don't like that one. But hey, it's not going to hit Orlando and ruin anyone's vacation :thumbsup2

Sheesh, just so it doesn't ruin Disney vacations, it's ok to go to LA, eh? Well, we don't need it either! I wouldn't wish it on anyone, would lots rather it veer to the east and go into the Atlantic ::yes::
