What months are hurricane season in Florida? Would it be worth it to consider going then or should I scratch that timeframe off my list?

Technically, it's June 1 until Dec 1st--that would eliminate half the year! I think September and October are probably the worst for hurricane threats. However, Orlando is inland, so frequently they only get rain.

Yikes. I didn't think that it went that long. Guess I should still consider that time of year since we usually have snowstorms here until about late March early April... it would not leave me with many options. Thanks for the info!

No...technically hurricane season is June 1 until November 30 and August is the peak hurricane season. By October, the ocean is cooling down and the risk of major storms decreases but is not completely gone. In 2005 when Wilma came across, it was in mid October but it wasn't a hurricane when it passed us. Miami really got hit hard with power outages that lasted until after Thanksgiving in some places.

If you want to cut the 6 months of Hurricane season down to the 3 worst months,I would say July through September, they are the hottest and rainiest months, the ocean water is the warmest giving you more chances of you having to deal with a storm, early October also has a good chance.

We always go in September or October, especially for the past 4 years or so with the free dining at that time. We have only been confined to our rooms on one day of one trip. Be sure to get trip insurance if you are too concerned.

We've been in Disney 4 times during hurricane season, and were there for 2 hurricanes. Both of which brought rain for a good day and made it windy. I wouldn't cancel it based on that time frame. Go with ponchos and have a great time:goodvibes

I go in August which is the "teeth" of Hurricane Season. In the 11 years I have been going for our summer vacation, I have only experienced one Hurricane during my week visit.

I simply wouldn't worry about it. Even when Charlie came through, which was a bad one, the parks closed early one afternoon and were up and running the next morning after the storm passed.

A big deal for the residents of Orlando, no big deal for this traveler from Virginia.

Schedule your trip for the time that fits your schedule best, and don't plan around hurricane season.

Glad to see all the reassurance about hurricane season. We are going the last week of September & was getting a little worried but I fell better now.

DO NOT COME YOU WILL BE.....nevermind...just kidding....sort of...I avoid Aug-Oct. myself....of course, I lived here ALL MY LIFE!;)
