The saga continues.... I talked to the main Disney reservation line this morning and even though yesterday I was assured they would reopen on 10/20, the lady today said they are closed and don't know when they will reopen.
I also got an email last night from the other bike rental company I was considering (Bon Bicycles) and they said they would be happy to rent me a bike, but they didn't know if I'd be able to ride them anywhere. Some of the bike trails are completely off limits and all the tree debris is blocking the pedestrian/bike paths along the road.
I decided to cancel and under the circumstances she canceled my reservation without penalty. I'll get my first nights deposit returned. My stay was supposed to be 10/23 - 10/28. Very sad to have to cancel, but I didn't know what else to do.
Now I see people reporting on the Facebook group they were called saying the resort won't open until 10/27 at the earliest. I must say this has been a very frustrating experience. I know they can't control what happened, but they should not have been giving people false hope. Now I'm scrambling to find another place to stay for those 5 nights and it won't be Hilton Head Island. I'll have to try again in the future when Hilton Head has fully recovered.
