Hurricane Katrina

well there will probaly will be deaths and there will be a back up on the toliets at the Super Dome lol but lets keep our thoughts with them and hope for the best and i hope everyone is ok and it is not as bad as expected

My mom and I have been watching the storm very closely. Only 3 storms of this magnitude have hit the U.S....one in 1939, which was called the Labor day hurricane of 1935 (that was before they named them), hurricane Camille, which I believe hit sometime in the '60s, and Andrew. The people who have homes in New orleans will have nothing to come back to when the storm is over...that city will never be the same again. Not to mention, all the people who either couldn't get out of there in time because of closed airports or crowded roadways, such as tourists. Plus all of the homeless people...they have nowhere to go really. I was watching an interview with some woman there last night who was stuck working at the hospital, and she said she had horses at home that she couldn't save, because there was no way for her to leave work and get them out of there. If something like that were to happen around my home, my mother would also be stuck at the hospital because she's a nurse. My prayers are with everyone who have to deal with this storm...

Lol! ya pennslvaina is looking good right now. But we are suppose to get the spin off thursday.. oh joy!

P.S. Is that how you spell pa? I live there, and I cant spell it.. sad.

It's supposed to be coming up this way? If it does, hopefully it'll come on Thursday as you said (I'll be away by then).

I caught some of it on TV a little while ago, and they said that a part of the roof of the Superdome had been torn off. :worried:

yea people are crowding into the Superdome. and what i think is really scary, is that they said (National Weather Service) that most of the wooden strcutures will be totallled and destroyed and that the skyscrapers will be swinging in the wine dangerously and may even colllapse. Possibly, and most likely, the windows will be all blown out in them. plus, my aunt who lives around St James was evacuted today :(

Yeahe superdom like exploded and there like water everywere it looks rreally Scary

i heard the hurricane kinda turned away from new orleans, but if it did hit there everyone in that stadium would've been dead no doubt.it sounds like the
mississippi river is going crazy too. (freaky)well i live in southeast pa, so i shouldn't worry too much. i'm leaving for dw on friday.(woo hoo!) :earsboy:

New Orleans really lucked out. They didn't get the worst of it, although it is really bad.

Also the superdome would have stood, well, parts of it at least. The people there are probably in the locker rooms and stuff like that. Areas that are less vunirable to collapse. It would be just stupid to have them on the field area.

there isnt a category 6...it only goes to category 5. But whatever category it is when it makes landfall, the damage is going to be huge and new orleans will be under water big time.

I know but if it gets bad enough they might consider it a typhoon or whatever they wanna consider it...

My classes got called off tomorrow, for Katrina, and we live in TN. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: to all who have already been hit.

I hope that everyone who lives in the area hit by Katrina is ok. I heard it could be a month before some people get their power back.

Biloxi, Miss got hit really bad... I was watching the tv last night, since my parents were too... they had lived in Biloxi just after they got married (my dad was stationed at a Naval base near there), and still know many people who live there, so they wanted to see the damage.

I just hope everyone is ok... i heard 50 deaths in mississippi alone already... prayers and pixie dust to everyone in Katrina's path.

it's scary to think about how many people lost their homes and everything, and all the people in the superdome who didn't know if it would hold up or not. :grouphug: to everyone! :)

I live in Northeast Louisiana, and we have tons of evacuies coming in. All of the hotels are full and people are taking them into their homes. They have evacuated much of the Southeast, but I'm not sure about the Southwest.

My brother and his wife live on the coast (literally, they are like, 5 blocks from the gulf) in Cameron Parish have not been evacuated. We have tried to get them to come home anyway, but, they're going to try and ride-it-out. They're only 4 feet above sea level!
Gosh, they're stubborn! ;) lol.

Alot of schools and churches are taking in evacuies, too. We are expected to get thunderstorms, wind, and lord knows what else. :confused3

That's all I know right now, but, I'll probably update. :wave2:

oh my gosh im so relieved you werent in the path of the storm. i instantly remembered about you living in louisiana when i heard about it. thank goodness youre okay. i hope your family is alright, my thoughts and prayers are with you guys. stay safe and hang in there. :goodvibes

its going to be sad time for awhile. theres like 20 feet of water around the dome and nobody can get out. i hate to say this, but i think most of the people in there are going to die. i can't beleive how high the gas prices are!
$3.09 are is the cheapest u can get and thats in nj!

Wow I can not believe all the destruction! Right now we are getting the remains of Katrina in NY. All we are getting is rain though and I hope it stays that way.
