Hurricane Irma Updates ***Check First Post for closures and more info***

I even saw there's indications that the coriolis effect is starting to weaken...not good
What's the thinking on this? I'm a hospital administrator/RN, but a closeted weatherman. Obviously the earth isn't slowing down (significantly). Larger mass storms that the coriolis effect has less of an impact?

Curious.

I work in reinsurance so we study storm activity a lot. One thing to keep in mind is that we have had a decade of really low activity of major storms so, yeah, it seems like a string of bad activity but it was actually more outside of likelihood the low activity we had

If, in fact, Irma runs up the spine of Florida, it will be incredibly dangerous to visit Orlando and difficult to get in and out. Further, all of South Florida is already heading north right now, so you will run into literally millions of people trying to compete for time, space, and commodities, food, etc. They have no where to go if the storm heads north. They're chasing their tails sort to speak. It will be difficult if not impossible to avoid it. Have a plan B. Good luck.

All public education institutions are closed Friday and Monday in Florida.

She appears to going through a eye wall replacement cycle. The good news is that process weakens the max sustained winds. The bad news is this process extends the hurricane force winds. More bad news... She is going over the warmest waters she will cover. If the cycle wraps up, the wind field will shrink as far as hurricane force winds go, but the winds will start to increase as pressure drops and she starts wrapping herself up again. Hopefully that doesn't happen, and she continues to weaken.

Yeah...the problem is that she's cleared the islands and now has a path of McDonald's class "caution:hot" water ahead of her

Disney will not be enforcing dining cancellation policies this weekend due to the hurricane.

SeaWorld will be closed starting 5PM Saturday and will be closed all day Sunday and Monday.

A Hurricane Watch is officially in affect for Central Florida until Monday.

Looks like it may make landfall with Cuba which would help out FL, but the models suggest somewhat rapid intensification as it heads north. Each run has things moving ever so slights west and for people who thought they would be ok on that side of the storm are now looking at some serious problems. They are running out of time to leave and have few options for fuel if they decided to leave.
