We are scheduled to fly out of NY on Friday at 7:00am and land at MCO around 10:00am on Friday morning. Do I still go ahead and check in on line at 7:00am on Thursday if there are no travel alerts on the SW website. Also, if I do check in and then the flight is cancelled, how will that affect my reservation? Can I still reschedule my flight? Thanks for the help. Hanna, Hanna go away!!!!!!

Yes...you can reschedule your flight if you are already checked in and Southwest cancels your flight. A couple of weeks ago, I found out right before checking out that our Southwest flight was canceled courtesy of Tropical Storm Fay. I called right then and managed to get on a flight the next day without any difficulty. I then did my 24 hour check in about an hour after I rescheduled my flight.
Good luck :thumbsup2

Unless Hanna goes further west than currently predicted I would expect that the only problems you would have is some routing delays, which might make the flight a little longer.

It is always wise to keep an eye on the weather and the SW site.

I ended up moving my flight out of MCO on 8/19 to get out ahead of Fay, it was really easy since SW had opened the weather rebooking policy.

A boarding pass for a cancelled flight is void so you would be able to book a new flight and get a new boarding pass in the unlikely event this happens to you.

I know everyone's opinion is just that, but you echo my thoughts as I watch Hanna. I, too, have a 7AM flight on Friday and I'm thinking they might have to alter the flight plan a little but doesn't look like it'll be cancelled. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!:thumbsup2

So I think I'm slick because I've come up with the "Hanna inspired Plan B itinerary". We're scheduled to fly into MCO on Sat AM. If Hanna decides that's not possible, I don't know how hard it would be to get another flight out on Sunday. So....I've booked Sunday airfare as well into MCO using SWA's business select rate because it is refundable anytime to the original form of payment. I also booked a second auto rental because if we don't arrive on Saturday, that rental (and rate) are void. I now have to decide whether I want to keep our Sat night off-site hotel ressie (as to not get charged for a "no show") and just find accomodations if we do manage to arrive to Orlando on Saturday. Phew-gotta love travelling during Hurricane Season. :3dglasses

Yep, leaving @ 7am from PVD myself. It just looks like they'll have to fly around her but we'll be okay!

We're flying out of Buffalo on SW at 7:45 am on Friday so I'm going to weather sites almost religiously right now. It looks like it might be a bit windy and we may get some rain on Friday so I'm optimistic we'll get there and hopefully not too late. It's a non-stop flight so hopefully we won't be too delayed.

Is it still the conventional wisdom that we will be alright for Friday AM based on current tracking?

We are clueless and don't know what the criteria is for cancelling the flight altogether.. and they do seem to think Hanna might go a little further west and be as close as it will be to Orlando at 8AM Friday...

I too have the same issue. I leave RDU at 7:00 am and land at MCO at 8:35 am.
