Hurricane Frances

I am leaving on Saturday for a 3 day stay at RPR and my first ever visit to Universal Studios. Anyone in Florida know what they are saying about Frances? I'm concerned it might not be a great visit!

Local news here is warning we might be hit on Saturday night unless Frances changes direction. It's just too early to tell. We are being warned to prepare though here in Orlando.

And after how Charley veered off the predicted path, Francis may also. I think the entire state of FL as well as the South East Coast (GA/SC/NC) should be watching this one carefully. They are saying that the hurricane force winds are spanning out way more than Charley did. With all the debris that is left on our roads, even tropical force winds can turn some of it into deadly missles. We all need to be on the look out for this one for the next few days. I am in Lee County & just the other day in one of our "normal summer storms" I saw the wind pick up a street sign that Charley had knocked down & blow it onto the median in the road I really hope Francis turns more towards open water than land. I still don't have my repairs done from Charley

Please keep us floridians in your prayers. If we get this storm, we may be in trouble!!!! I am still working on getting my roof repaired and the likes. I am keeping my faith, and praying that this storm die in the water.

Lord, I hope it stalls, or turns or something.......... We are all watching it......... and hoping for everyone's sake it does just that!!!

Yeesh is all I can say. I've heard Frances might get up to a Category 5 before it hits land! I do hope it turns/fizzles before. My roof still hasn't been repaired or anything. It's been almost impossible to get a contractor!

MickeyFan, you hit the nail on the head about all the deadly missiles. We have tons of debri in piles all over my neighborhood. Every house, including mine, has a stack of junk piled as tall or taller than me in front of it. I'm really worried about all the flying debri from those piles of trees, fence posts, and shingles.

I was just getting used to having electricity again too.

Everyone at work is waiting to see which way I run so they can go the opposite way since I ran into the center of Charley. Looks like it will be between Robvia and Melborne which will make for a nasty weekend at Universal. Ya'll are in my prayers.

I am praying for a turn in course. I live in Melbourne which is right where it's projected to hit land. We'll be boarding up tonight and probably leaving tomorrow morning. No hotels in Tampa, Brandon, etc. so looks like we're GA bound. Keep all us Floridian's in your thoughts.

I'm just wondering where those of us that have already received damage from Charley should do. Supposedly if our homes were damagaed due to him, we can't stay in them when Frances comes...

Watching this storm track is making me sick to my stomach. My whole neighborhood has huge piles of debris in front of each of our houses. These piles are as tall as me. These piles have trees, fences, and posts. They will be flying and hitting our houses and cars when the winds pick up. Also the trees that are still standing after Charley are already compromised and in a weakened state. It wouldn't take much to uproot them.

I am a nervous wreak over this one where as with Charley I was only mildly worried. But there's no where to go in Florida.

I've even printed a map of FL and tried odd cities here and there for hotels and find absolutely everything booked. We should be OK where we go in GA it's mid-state but I would like to stay in FL if I could get a room somewhere. I also have a Tinkerbell (puppy) that will be going with me no matter where we go.

You are right there aren't any rooms here. I know the General Manager of both of our Ritz Carltons and would give him a call if you like. He was telling me that they evaculated and relocated the hotel on the gulf in 6 hours for Charley so he knows your pain. The Ritz is a little bit pricey though.

I received an email from our Emergency Operations Center and it sounds like we might get some flying debris:

We expect winds from Hurricane Frances to be from 90 mph to 120 mph. By 2 p.m. Friday we should expect winds at 30 mph. By 8 p.m. we should begin feeling the full effect. It was reported that this storm is 300 miles wide. Immokalee is expected to take the worst hit. At this time they are expecting a mass migration from the east coast.

Thank You MotherFletcher. I think we're going to family in GA. I am getting ready to head home and get things together so we can hit the road sometime in the middle of the night. I'm really suprised they have not let us go from work yet.

If you do go go early enough to avoid the I-95 parking lot that will happen at the last minute.
