Anyone else think this "hurricane" coverage is absolutely ridiculous today?! I mean, maybe it's going to be bad in a few places but from what they are saying, it's really not going to be in the NY/NJ/CT area. I'm looking out my window and the American Flag across the street is barely blowing at all!

Al Roker was in NC this morning on the Today Show, very dramatically placed on the beach so that it looked like he was really in it. Ya know what Al? Get off the beach and if probably won't be so windy for you!

They have interrupted tv shows throughout the day and nothing is happening! There is NO news! I just don't get why they have to dedicate hours and hours to something that isn't even a story.

Oh Lord...they just interrupted one person giving a live report in CT to say they have a new development on a Long Island beach....CLOUDS HAVE JUST FORMED OVERHEAD!

I'm also in Jersey. I thought I saw the sun earlier. The TS warning is a joke.

I live just outide of NYC, the news is hilarious. It drizzled for about 5 minutes earlier.

My favorite when I lived in Philly my favorite thing was always when it snowed, they didn't even just break in the TV shows, they totally pre-empted them! My Mom and I always used to joke, "Yep, stillllll snowin!"

I'm in Virginia and whatever Earl is, it's passed us. Yet, they are spending a very large portion of new showing us the waves at Ocean City, MD and dwelling on NOTHING. I got about 6 drops of rain on my windshield this morning on the drive it. It must be a slow news week.

Yes, they do this ALL the time in NYC. :sad2: That's why I can understand that bride from Philly, on the other thread, who wanted to get married in NC this Sunday, and didn't want to cancel until some real authorities knocked on her door telling her to evacuate. We usually never have the storms/hurricanes/blizzards at the levels the news are forecasting. It's always over-inflated hype around here. When it arrives, it is a complete joke. You look out the window :magnify: and it's like, "WHERE is this storm?" :confused3 You've canceled or rearranged plans for absolutely NOTHING.

On Jim Cantore-Weather Channel-facebook, there is a photo from Whalebone Surf shop that reads Emmy Award to best in Drama, Jim Cantore.

I'm right near the Meadowlands. The wind just started to pick up a little, and rain is expected in a couple hours (according to accuweather), but it doesn't seem like anything serious at all. Just like how the media goes insane when there's a dusting of snow in the south, they also go nuts when any kind of unusual-for-the-area weather comes anywhere near us here.

I'm here on Long Island...about an hour or so west of Montauk and nothing, nada, zip....a little rain this morning.....:confused3

It is the same over inflation here in Florida, I get so tired of it. They start before they even know for sure that it is going to be a direct hit, and then once they do know ,you can just forget any show that you may want to watch. They say the same things over and over and over and over, well, you get the point.

Yep we are just waiting & waiting & waiting here in southernmost part of NY (staten island to be exact) but it looks like we'll be watering grass tomorrow anyway and we had such hopes of saving $ on water bill this month !! :rotfl2:

Exactly! Not a drop of rain!

DH is from SI and DSis lives there now. She and DH's fam are both just over the Outerbridge! :thumbsup2

a ts is no joke to those who have lost things to it.....when ours hit, it was when 9/11 happened and we had NO coverage at all........

Ridiculous...really over the top with the coverage and alerts. I mean you'd think the world was coming to an end. Eastern nassau county here..and not so much as a single drop of water..and the wind, is non existence.

We've had more rain and wind from a late afternoon summer thunderstorm.

I actually remember that..as in remember that there was no coverage of it until like a few days later.

Small world ! We live in Great Kills but spend alot of time in Tottenville ( youngest DD dance studio is over that way ). DH & I keep wanting to move to NJ but our kids don't want to hear it with the grandparents here & most of their aunts, uncles & cousins so I have a feeling here we will stay until they are all grown & out on their own, DH says just start concentrating on the 55+ communities in NJ but I keep hoping I can convince them :goodvibes
