Hurricane Cruise Changes

Scheduled to fly to Orlando early Friday morning and board Dream for the 9/8 sailing. As of this morning was still set to sail as scheduled. I'm getting so nervous. We are also due to check in to Boardwalk on Monday so i'm hesitant to just change everything. We were there for Matthew last year - feel like i'm having horrible luck! Anyone know if it will be possible if canceled to get my other reservation modified or additional hotel easy? Waiting on my TA to get back to me but she wasn't about to make any changes till we have more info from DCL. Also if we leave as scheduled how would they modify an already short cruise? I don't even care if we don't stop any where I just don't want to bounced all over!

Where is the Fantasy right now? wondering how it will get through the hurricane and back to port canaveral.

Don't have anything on the Disney site yet, but RCL just cancelled both of its 9/8 sailings (PC and Miami) to the Bahamas. With Castaway Cay and Nassau in the direct path of a 185 mph eyewall, there may be nothing left there to cruise to anyway.

NCL cancelled their sailings to the Bahamas too.

We sailed on the Magic in 2004, the year that 5 hurricanes hit Florida. Port Canaveral was closed for several weeks before we sailed. DCL sailed in and out of Miami for those weeks. DCL provided transport to Miami from the airport and WDW. Two weeks before we sailed there were no ports open to cruise ships because storms had impacted both the east and west coasts of Florida. The 7 day cruise 2 weeks before us became a 10 day cruise. The Magic docked in Galveston to allow those who wanted to disembark to do so. And to reprovsion the ship. DCL arranged transport to the airport for those passengers who disembarked. Then they sailed back to Miami. The following 7 day was shortened. We were on the next 7 day which sailed out of Port Canaveral which had just been reopened. We were the first cruise back to Castaway Cay after 2 storms had impacted it. The vegetation was messy but we still had fun. We stayed the night before in Cocoa beach at a hotel full of FEMA workers. When we checked in to the cruise we received a notie that said our "Western" itinerary was being changed (another storm was headed west!) to Puerto Rico and St. Thomas. When we reboarded after a day in San Juan we were told that there was another storm headed to St. Thomas so we were diverted again this time to Nassau. We had a great time and most important DCL chose to divert and change itineraries to keep us out of harm's way! I didn't care where we went as long as we were on the Magic!
The Fantasy reversed the order of their itinearary but they may not make CC with the storm headed there Thursday/Friday. The Dream was at CC today with Nassau tomorrow and a Sea Day Thursday. But all of that depends on where the storms go. My advice is just go with the flow. I was kept up to date before we sailed by DIS Board members who lived in Florida and were scheduled to sail with us. They kept us posted on the status of the airport, hotels and the port. I just love my fellow DIS'rs!

Currently, the 9/9 cruise that was on FLR special as of this morning has been removed from the website, both for FL residents and for regular booking. I would not be surprised if DCL finally ended up cancelling a cruise. Either way, they didn't want anyone else booking.

It shows that it is just passing the Cayman Island. Irma is about 1300 miles from the ship.

Does that mean their ships are going to go out with no passengers on board? I read that Norwegian is letting people stay on who won't be able to get out of Florida

My cruise just got canceled - unfortunate but safety is first.

My biggest concern right now is will the travel insurance be refunded. I bought travel insurance using this agent and I thought it was the Disney insurance but it is some Allianz insurance program. My concern is how is that money refunded?

And if it is not recommended, any suggestions on what I can claim? My parents are visiting me for few weeks and staying with us in Orlando, the cruise we had planned was with them.

Thanks

The Fantasy will be putting on speed to make it back to PC by Thursday. That means pulling in the stabilizers to allow for more speed. The had to do that on one of our cruises on the Magic. First we were late leaving due to some passengers flights being delayed by weather. Then on the same cruise we had to turn around and head back to Nassau for a medical evacuatin. We didin't enter the port they evacuated the patient to the pilot boat. Then put on more speed to get back on schedule. Not really rough but some passengers felt it.

Just wondering for people getting in Thursday who had flights Friday or Saturday, how they are making out with changing flights
