I don't know that DCL has changed it's itineraries. That's pretty much a last minute decision whether to change/cancel ports.

EDIT: As noted, DCL posted changes to itineraries on the day the ship sailed.

News last night showed yet another potential hurricane off the African coast...'tis the season, unfortunately.

They don't change much in advance. They try to keep it close to sail for the best model/prediction. As is right and proper, really.

It is looking like Irma will be hitting Florida/Bahamas Friday/Saturday. I wonder if those on the current sailing with be at sea till Irma passes.

I don't think Disney will try to sail through a Cat 4 storm to make port on Saturday.

We will hopefully board the Dream on the 11th. Getting to the port from NC may be interesting. I'm watching Irma intently!!

Pretty much no. Season runs June-November and September into October is the peak. Some seasons are lighter than others, but I don't recall there ever being a season without any.

The last "drought" year was 2015. A drought year is a year without a cat 3 or higher hurricane. I found this info on the internet (so it must be true)

A major hurricane is one containing maximum sustained winds of at least 111 mph and classified as Category 3 or higher on the 1-5 Saffir-Simpson wind scale. (Hurricane Sandy had transitioned to a post tropical storm when it struck New Jersey in 2012, and was no longer classified as a hurricane at landfall, though it had winds equivalent to a Category 1 storm.) The streak has reached 3,937 days, longer than any previous drought by nearly two years.

So, it appears that there are no years with no hurricanes. Only years with lesser hurricanes.

The 9/9 fantasy we may not know where we are porting until we actually port there. Fortunately out Captain has more flexibility with 7 days to work with... 3 day and 4 day cruises on the Dream are more difficult.

They actually just changed the order of the ports but the ports remained the same for both Dream today and Fantasy this past Saturday.

I am due to get on the Dream this Friday and will play it by ear as to what happens. It is too soon to know right now.

Abundance of Caution. Still a few models that give Irma a right hook North and speeding up. Castaway Cay isn't where you want to dock a ship in a Hurricane. Nassau is far safer if they had to ride out a storm with more on land help available if needed. They can also fuel in Nassau if needed to make a quicker turnaround at PC.

Day at seas the last day also allows them to dock at PC early if needed. They could dock at PC Thursday evening if need be and be a docked hotel for the night if storm threatens.

This gives DCL more options with an unpredictable storm threatening.

We are Florida residents (Vero Beach) and are currently praying this storm goes out to sea and spares Florida and the rest of the east coast.We have been through some bad storms,Frances and Jean in 2004,so we know what can happen.It just so happens we're taking our first cruise in 10 days and are getting pretty nervous.Lets hope all is well and everybody stays safe.

Hey ... don't forget Charley ... the big three!! I lived in the Orlando area and was working at WDW when Charley, Frances and Jeanne hit. That was crazy!

South Florida residents are taking this serious! I'm happy to see it. People started Sunday getting ready with their supplies (according to the news).
A lot of places out of water and the usual staples already.
I had water, but went out early to get more just in case, thankfully Target had tons of palettes and it was going fast.

We sail on the 30th of the month, first time we have ever sailed out of Port Canaveral in Hurricane season.
We are usually someplace other than Florida for our Fall vacations.
