Hurricaine Frances

Hello. My family and I will be at WDW Sept 7-15th and we were wondering if we should be concerened about Hurricaine Frances. Any info on this?

I am no hurricane expert, but it looks like half of the 5-day projected path will affect FL is some way.

Of course, if it runs on the northern side of the projected path, it may run up the coast and never hit land.

It sure looks ominous though!

I am glad I will be back home by then.

Still to early to be concerned. Keep and eye on it, know what is going on, but don't worry. Remeber Hurricane Charley was the first Hurricane since Donna in 1960 to take a direct path over Central Florida (Flloyd in 1999 was a scare but it turned up the coast and Erin in 1995 came through overnight as a tropical storm...we get afternoon storms more forceful then Erin was). Not to say that I am a meterologist and you have nothing to worry about, I am anything but an expert, but as a local, it is too early to be concerned.

They are the ones who said Charley was going to hit more north towards Tampa..they were still saying it as it made its turn towards my area. My local weather men (one of them being my daughter's friends Dad) went against the NHC & said Charley was turning towards us & we needed to take shelter to protect ourselves...they were correct, the NHC were not... sorry but in my opinion they blew it that time.... I now think that they can only give you a "guestimate" of where it will hit. Hurricanes have a mind of their own & will turn when they aren't suppose to...look at Charley. So if they are saying it may hit the east coast...it can hit anywhere on the east coast & go all the way to the west... It is easy for people to say historically they don't...but they can... I have sat a catagory 4 out in my house & will not take that chance again...by the time it was declared officailly heading towards me, it was too late to leave! ... just my 2 cents.
