Hunrgy Bear Re-Opens with new menu.

All the food sounds very exciting. I am going to have to try something from there when we go in a couple of weeks.

One of the best salads I've ever had in my life was at a restaurant here in San Diego that featured spinach, watermelon, cucumbers, pine nuts, feta cheese, tomatoes, and a light balsamic vinaigrette. It was so light and fresh! I make it at home in the summer.

I stay FAR FAR away from pine nuts - my DH made a wonderful salad with these wonderfully tasting nuts - and a few days later EVERYTHING I ate, for about a week afterwards, tasted like someone sprayed a can of RAID insect spray in my mouth, it was so bitter!! Apparently, a person can come down with PINE NUT MOUTH, (you can google it to see what it is.) This is not a joke, it seriously happened to me and was so scary and horrible. So if I were anyone making this type of salad, I would substitute anything else for the pine nuts. I will forever stay away from pine nuts and any kind of pesto sauce (which contains pine nuts.) The salad sounded great to me, with the exception of those darn pine nuts! :goodvibes

Wow! I just Googled it! That's insane. I've never had any of those symptoms, in fact I toss those puppies into pastas and salads all the time and always keep some in the freezer. I'll keep that in mind, though, when cooking dishes for others!

Do you guys think the cat is still there? They wouldn't have run her off when they did renovations would they?

this continues the trend in why I actually prefer DLR dining to WDW dining.....great counter service options coupled with Al Fresco dining !

I agree, this is just another one up DL is getting over WDW.

Very excited about sweet potato fries! YUM!

Yes, so many people are happy about the sweet potato fries and I'm included in that group too.

The cats or cats? Feral cats moved into DLR a long time ago and Disney takes care of them now. They are hard to spot but there are feeder/water stations for them. They also get vet care when needed. Better benefits than some hourly CMs. ;)

Yes, you're right, many cats, sadly, some of them had cuts and bleeding tears on their skin, ears, etc... Those cats fight for their territory, I suppose... it wasn't anything too terrible, or I'd have told the CM's about it!! I just told our kids not to pet the bloody part, and sanitized our hands right away.

Sonnyjane, it was the first time I had ever tried pine nuts - I was honestly going to book a Dr.'s appt. to find out what was wrong with me, and thank GOD that the pine nut mouth thing came up on a google search. I was just soooo disgusted how TERRIBLE every single thing I ate for a week after was soooooo gross... seems there is no rhyme or reason to it, so even for yourself, please be careful.. IMO after experiencing that, I would never ever go near another one again. I reported it to the right avenues, so hopefully in time this will become something that people will be more aware of. I had NEVER heard of it until it happened to me. I even phoned my Dr.'s office to let them know that a 'bitter taste in mouth' should be questioned as, "Have you had pine nuts in the last few days?" This is what was soooo odd about it - symptoms of pine nut mouth didn't show up until around 2-3 days later! (As is with all cases of it.) No wonder it is not reported often! Hard to figure out unless you had known about it and/or googled it.

I don't like sweet potato fries but I'm so glad they did change the menu. I was hoping they would. It was such a shame to have that nice area serve such bland and boring food. I can't wait for our official food taster blogger run over and give us a review! ;)

I have to go along with you PB. Love the area, one of my most favorite places to relax but I always thought the food had no taste. Burgers were dry and the food never seem to be hot. I will go back again and see if things have changed.

We always ate there simply for the location, ease of finding seats during a busy time, etc. Never for the food! So, now, if they have some decent food, it will provide even more reason to eat there. Hmm... wonder if we won't be able to find a seat now? :)

This looks great! The HB is one of my favorite settings for a meal in the park. The salad looks wonderful. We're always on the lookout for more healthy dining options during our trip.

We'll be all over those cupcakes & pies :thumbsup2

I hope they didn't change the restroom during the rehab......I love that potty.

I feel a Culinary Quest coming on. I was hoping for a new menu at HB once it re-opened. Glad to see the changes. I'll have to get the family over there very soon to check out the new offerings. Stay tuned...

We surely appreciate you volunteering to check it out and giving all of us the scoop.:thumbsup2 Thanks Tony! Like others have voiced, we are particularly interested in reviews of the fried tomato sandwich and the sweet potato fries.
