Hungry Are The Damned! 10/15/07-10/25/07 - COMPLETED W/LOTS OF PICS!!!

Hi Brenda!

Poor Jay! What a bummer to have to miss what looked to be such a fine food and wine pairing. I've been to Le Cellier for dinner and really enjoyed their filet with mushroom risotto (I know, I know..mushrooms!). I think you should go back for a "do-over". Immediately.:thumbsup2

Great update!

Hey, Brenda, I read this last night, but my allergy medicine kicked in and I couldn't stay awake to reply! No really, it would have sounded very loopy!:crazy2:

I hate that Jay got so sick at LeCellier. I really loved it there, mushroom filet and all! I don't like mushrooms, but I swear it was so dark, I didn't see them in my risotto so it was :thumbsup2 . Did they at least let you take Jay's dessert with you so you could enjoy it later....in secret....so he wouldn't feel bad? It looked like it was a really nice meal and wine pairing, though.

I am also sorry poor Jay missed LeCellier. We went for the first time Jan 25, 2008. Our meal and our server were among the best of our 9 dinners. Minutes after arriving for this long awaited meal, our daughter-in-law ran to the ladies room with the need to barf!!! She and our son headed back to OKW by bus and actually made it before she started her marathon of puking!! Both of them ended up sick for the nest day and a half. Now when we talk of that night we completely downplay how great our dinner was!!! It really was as great as we had heard! The filet was tender and cooked to perfection. I'm glad I get to say out loud how much we did enjoy LeCellier!!!:lmao:

k...three things elicited a snort laugh...even though I have an actual documented case of influenza...I snort laughed. Illness abound and you were able to bring much mirth to my being!

thank you. I was getting downright grouchy!

Jay thanks you too!!

and the kids...

and my dog.

*ahem*

Okay...

so the visual of you capering around your computer room when you got your reservation of choice. That just cracked me up! I can so totally envision this...as I too tend to "caper" with joy...not unlike a little spring calf...moo.

the next snort laugh came about when you let your public know that if you and Jason were garden gnomes you would live in the little house on LeCellier's lawn. :lmao: :rotfl2: you've got some creative sparkles there!

the biggest snort came from your juse of the word "duckstick". Just seeing that word makes me laugh. Duckstick...yep I just laughed again. I don't eat duck if I can help it. I like ducks...alive and quacking. I suppose if the deed is already done though...and it's in the form of a duckstick...there's no harm in a nibble or two...

quack. oh the guilt in my soul!

So sorry your Jay was ill. I can feel for you there. It's so awful to know your best buddy is ill to the core and you can't help. My Jay would have done the same thing. "I'm leaving, you are not. Stay and enjoy. Period." It would have been VERY difficult to do so. I don't tend to have a lot of fun when I know my sweetie is having digestional pyrotechnics in another location! Poor baby.

another great review!!

I'm loving the blog format btw...even with its technical difficulties!

okay...influenza headache is now screaming at me and I MUST stop looking at the computer screen lest I die right here.

:goodvibes

Friday, October 19th - A Food & Wine Pairing at Le Cellier a/k/a A Passage From the Book of Puke

I must now give another shout out to several people who were seated near us at the table. But first I have to apologize because I've forgotten every single one of their names ... D'OH! :headache: They were some of the nicest people, many of whom were veterans of F&W events who were able to give me some great advice. It also turns out that a few of those same people actually have read some of my stuff here at the DIS which I was flattered and humbled by, to say the least. This may sound dumb, but I never really expected to meet anyone face-to-face who had invested time in reading my silliness here. As someone who really enjoys writing this stuff, it was extremely gratifying and humbling to hear from people who've found the reviews and trip reports entertaining and even useful. The DIS-community has helped me rediscover something that I thought I'd lost forever (no, not my appetite you silly people!) and I will always be grateful for that. And I know I've said this before, but I think it bears repeating: the fact that you take the time to read these reviews means a lot to me... I know I have chronic diarrheal keyboard-itis and wading through my threads can be a chore, but you're here and you're reading and you think it's worth spending at least a little of your time on and I appreciate that more than you will probably ever know.

Thank you. :grouphug:

**End self indulgent love-fest**

Brenda!

I have been reading reviews on the DIS far longer then posting and I have to say one of the big reasons I actually started doing any reviews was your threads. I find them clever and funny. I always have my husband come in and read your stuff and we find your likes and dislikes very helpful on your trip planning especially at F&W time.
I did see you at one of the PFTS last year near the WONDERFUL WALL OF CHEESE and started to say something but thought even in my hazy wine soaked state of mind that trying to introduce myself as "Kabuki" would have been weird! ;)
So please keep up all the food wine and trip reviews for all of us who love to read!
Chelsi

Poor Jay, and yes it's a good thing you were so close to the BCV! I would have left quickly after Jay too. No fun without the hubby!

I think I'd pass on this event, between the duck, shrooms and plums :crazy2:

Brenda, did they have press pot coffee at the Garden View Tearoom? It's on allears menu (which is over a year old), but I don't see it on our site here. Did you happen to notice--I was thinking coffee and scones would be awfully good for an afternoon snack.

Sorry I come up with these questions weeks later--I tend to mull and think a lot about our trips!

Where have I been? I don't know how I missed this till now.:confused3 I've been in bed with a dead back drooling over your food porn for the last few hours. Now I'm starving and the only thing I can get my hands on is a rawhide chew my puppy left in the bed for me.

So does Brenda... and me... and everyone else... mull away!!! How else am I going to learn all the secrets???

It may not be nutritionally good for you, but your puppy definately loves you... :lovestruc

**CAPERS**

I finished my first non-Disney review!

For those of you who've been able to make it in, check it out and let us know what you think.

For anyone else who hasn't given me their email address, please do so soon. My available reader space is filling up really quickly. I think that Jay and I will probably open it up to everyone within the next month or two, but we have to finish transferring reviews over before we do that.

In the meantime thanks for being so supportive and I will keep updating here until the blog is ready to open to the big wide world.

Thanks everybody!! :goodvibes

Someone slap me! How did I miss this whole thread all this time?? Subscribing, laughing, drooling, and constantly wanting a drink whilst reading. Is it too early for a little slog in my coffee?????

Poor Jay! I bet he was bummed to have missed out. And poor you without your sweetie.

Btw, what's up with STL this morning? They called off school for that little dusting? Beware the looney drivers, the crazy dust is down.

Keep the food coming. We're living vicariously through your trip report until we can get there.

**Thanks for the good wishes for the hubby ... I let him know that everyone was sad to hear about his tummy troubles from October and this just reinforces my claim that he is not a ruiner!

subscribing

Thanks for reading - hope you enjoy it all!

Great update. sorry about Jay's "reversal" . We love Le Cellier. You feel the same way about a steak house that I feel about seafood. Growing up in a region with a food specialty spoils you doesn't it? Looking forward to more.

Thanks! You nailed it - we all want what we can't have. I'll trade you one pig, three chickens, and a herd of heifers for a mess of crab and some monkfish!!

Hey Brenda! Thanks for the excellent review!

I'm so sorry to hear about Jay. I'm with you. If hubby isn't along for the fun, I'm not having much fun. Especially under these circumstances.:sad1:

Thanks for reading - glad you enjoyed it (all things considered). It's hard to have fun when your lovey feels like a sack of crap, isn't it?

Good stuff, sistah! So sorry for Jay--glad he made it back to the room. I'm not a duck fan either.....:scared:

We're trying LeCellier in June....can't wait.

Thanks Sistah P! You'll have to let us know what you think about Le Cellier once you get back - most people here on the DIS rave about it.

Poor Jay. It's so horrible to be sick at DisneyWorld, plus to miss out on the yumminess that is Le Cellier! Serious bummer. Great review though!

Thanks for reading! Sick and Disney World should never be allowed to occur in the same sentence.

Wow, you nailed that scenario. We were posting on the DIS that we were ready to start dialing. I don't like calling CRO at 6am. Bleh. This year, I wasn't so lucky, and I got shut out of your event. I had done it two times previously, and they were goooood.

I was taking no chances with reservations for 2007 ... and I'll probably be the same way come 2009. It's a disease! :lmao:

I was really disappointed when you said you didn't get into this pairing - I was really hoping that we'd get to share an event together and write a tag-team review. Next time ... :thumbsup2

Yes, credit card shock! At least I didn't have to look at the cost of two people attending events! I lucked out with someone at CRO who knew what she was doing, except she insisted on doing the lengthy spiels. I wish we can voluntarily ask they give the spiels AFTER the bookings if they must give them.

My CM was pretty good about the spiel - she only did one time and then I just told her not to worry about it ... please.

I did the F&W math before we made our final decisions so the shock wasn't as bad as it could have been ... but still, we could have had another dinner at V&A with booze for the amount that we ended up charging that morning. :scared:

Well, I am going to have revoke your Midwesterner Beefeater's Card until you can both sit through a meal there.

A real meal or another pairing? We're game for another pairing if we can nab it, but the regular menu isn't appealing to us at all. If we're going to "steak" it at WDW I think I'd rather go to the Yachtsman.

If that was the Burrow, the Weasley's would chase you out of that garden, too! (Sorry, I had Harry Potter on the brain.)

No apology necessary - I was totally thinking of the Burrow when I wrote this!

That's always been a drawback at this event. The long table. When I did the event last time, I was lucky enough to be seated in the middle, right across from the winery representative. I don't think those seated at the ends of the table could hear as well as we could in the middle section.

I couldn't even tell you what I did or didn't hear from this event ... I was so focused on the amazing technicolor husband that I kind of blocked out everything else.

Woohoo! It's the ubiquitous Meli! Congrats to that newlywed! I got the full skinny the week before, but I don't think I mentioned what happened to her in my trip report! So it's a tag team effort! At least I have a photo of her posted in case anyone wanted to see Meli.

I think Meli may have been the only DISer who got to meet almost everyone during her trip.

What? You don't take the menu home with you? How do you think I could possibly describe everything I did on my larded and loaded tour? Sheesh. You sound like an amateur. :snooty:

Oh you misunderstood me ... how could you think I wouldn't bring the menu home with me? :scared1:

I wanted to scan it so people here could see for themselves what the inside of it looks like. But I don't use the scanner because I have bad technical karma and would somehow end up setting the house on fire. And since coming home I scribbled stuff on the inside of the menu so I can't have Jay scan it now unless I want everyone here reading my deepest, darkest secrets. ;)

Egad! Did you just say you had keyboard diarrhea ??? Is there an Immodium for that? :crazy2: Other than that, I feel the love. Kumbaya. :grouphug:

Well, I do tend to write a lot...probably more than some people would prefer. Stephen King always called it diarrhea of the word processor or some such thing, so I just expanded on his idea.

And thanks for the review love! :goodvibes

Duckstick? :rotfl2: I think that looks like confit. I think you need more time in front of Iron Chef. :teacher: Again, I would have gladly taken the blob of liver, too. Mmm, liver blob. I make it sound appetizing.

See what I mean? I am not a real foodie ... I'm a poser! I couldn't tell you what confit is even supposed to be. That looks like a duckstick and a molded blob of pasty meat-type stuff. And you can have my duck liver any time if it's going to be served like that.

Funny you should mention that. I was ready to take a photo of the bottle of Chateau St. Michelle Indian Wells 2005 I bought at Costco. When I read that you had this winery, it made me want to open it. But I didn't.

Have you opened it now?

How about now?

Did you open it yet???

That looks really good, but oh, Jay...I can almost see the green under the tan.

Yep... and green is not really his color.

Ahem. Spotlight, please! :mic:

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled mushrooms yearning to be freely eaten,
The wretched refuse of your tannin-filled glasses of full bodied red wine.
Send these, the homeless olives, too, toss 'em to me.
I lift my glass beside the restaurant door."

Hmm, I wonder if I should have posted that to your blog? :scratchin:

You should definitely post that to the blog - it's a riot and entirely too true! :lmao:

Hmm, plums don't really do it for me, but hey, it looked pretty. That's something, right?

It's a very pretty dessert - I loved the colored sauce dots.

I'm picturing you knocking back the wine and making a mad dash out of there. Not a fun end to a meal. :( You do need a do over! I've been where Jay was, twice in fact. I had that overheated feeling followed by the "get out of my way!" result. I'll blame the funky goo at breakfast, though.

And it was hot that day. That couldn't have done any good for him.

You pictured it right. I really felt like I was being rude but I also felt like a horrible person for not leaving with Jay - not that he probably wanted me around while he was tossing his cookies, but that's no excuse for being a Goody Bad-Wife.

And I do think the Kona goo contributed to his woes - that and the heat were just a killer.

Really great reviews. Although I'm sorry to hear about your DH, hopefully he'll feel better next time you guys go to Le Cellier.

Keep the reviews comin', I really enjoy reading them. :)

Thanks for reading BabyPiglet - always good to see you here!

Well Brenda... from how fast it came on... it sounds as if Jay had a case of food poisoning... Not fun at all!!!

Hope you get to do more tastings next time you go... and I'll pray to the Gods and make sure the planets are aligned when you make the call next time!!!

Thanks Michelle! I've wondered too if it could have been food poisoning - I guess we'll never know for sure but I do feel confident that the next time we're at Kona Jason's motto will be, "Just Say No to Goo!"

Thanks for the F&W good vibes ... I've got 18 months to plan our strategy!!

So sorry that Jay wasn't feeling well. I'm sure it was hard for you to enjoy the food knowing that he was feeling so sickly! I hope he felt better by the next day.:sad2: Great review of the food and wine though;)

Hi there! Glad you liked the review even if it did get kind of sicky there for a while. He did start to feel better on Saturday but it was one of those things that kept re-visiting him during the rest of the trip.

Oh well, what can you do but make the best of it? :upsidedow

Hi Brenda,

I'm so sorry Jay got sick! Hopefully he was on the mend quickly.

I'm really surprised you had never been to Le Cellier before. I think we've had lunch once and dinner twice, and it's always been wonderful. Your pictures look SO good! It's a shame Jay didn't really get to enjoy it and that you were rushing through at the end. Hopefully you'll get back there soon.

Looking forward to more!

Hi Lori - thanks for stopping by! I think the worst part about looking back over this pairing is knowing how much Jay would enjoy it under normal circumstances - that's a reason for an automatic do-over right there! Glad you liked the pictures ... I tried really hard this time to make sure they were "just so."

Cue ominous music here... (the Bach d minor toccata and fugue will do nicely, thank you)

Yes, that's a very nice choice - thanks for helping to set the tone!

Aw, Brenda - I'm so glad you got some face time and some real life type appreciation from some of your many readers - we think you're the bee's knee's, da bomb, AND Handsome Pete's pjs. In other words, we lahve you, we luff you, we lurve you, our Brenda.

Oh, stop ... you're making me feel all awkward and blushy, which is how I felt at Le Cellier now that I think about it. I didn't know what to say, and I'm rarely entertaining or interesting under pressure.

But thank you for the review-love, Litebrite ... I lurve you guys, too!

That description is making me want to try some! I have had the same type of experiences with Chardonnays (too harsh), but I'm a bit of a wine wienie. Maybe this one would be gentle enough for little old me.

If not, do what I do and skip the Chards and have a Pinot Grigio instead.

The food - mmm, beefy goodness indeed. Too bad about the taters, though, precious. At least they weren't something rrrrraw and wrrrrrriggling!

:rotfl2: You stole my next Gollum quote!!!

Poor Jay - Oh, I feel terrible for him.

Thanks - I felt terrible for him, too. And ... I'm pretty sure Jay felt terrible for himself. ;)

Whew! Finally he can puke in peace! I'm so glad he made it back to the room, poor poor guy.

You, me, Jay, and every guest at Epcot should be glad he made it back OK ... I don't think he wanted to have to share with anyone if you know what I mean. And if something like that is going to happen, you at least want to be someplace comfortable and private.

Please do give LC another stab, and next time hopefully Jay can pass on the men's room there altogether, since he now must have some baaad memories associated with that little room. Next time we have to get the food and health stars all in proper alignment so you guys can have a happier memory from there.

We'll probably try for another pairing there next year, if we luck out again. In about 18 months I'll be asking everyone to cross their fingers for us.

Poor Jay. Being sick on vacation is the worst. We had only our first visit to Le Cellier in October and loved it, I hope you will get to visit again.

Thanks. I'm sure we'll get back there eventually. And if not, well, there's always something new to try isn't there?

I have a barf phobia. I hope all the barfing stops soon and the eating starts again. The two do not pair well.

Thanks Briarmom - the eating will resume very shortly. Thanks for reading despite the barfing ... thankfully this is the only review in which it will make an appearance.

I'm also one who has never been to LeCellier yet. Just never seems to work out.

Love your reviews. Looking forward to Party for the Senseless.

Now that surprises me a little since you two are fairly close to the World ... I just assumed you had tried it all!

Thanks for reading Jeanne ... and Party for the Senseless is going to be one long or maybe two very long posts. We took so many pictures and ate so much food and now I'm hungry!

Brenda-I'm loving the reviews! I would love to take an adults only trip with my DH someday during the Food & Wine Fest. I'm hoping for such an event within the next couple of years. Until then, I'll have to live vicariously through your reports.*sigh* Sorry your dear hubby got sick on you. That was very unfortunate and reminds me of a time when my DH barfed all over the Sierra Nevada Mountains during a wine tasting marathon. Wait a minute....that was ALL his fault so no comparison.:lmao: Not only did he get sick, but he was so toasted beforehand that we ended up with a case of Silverado zinfandel for $75. And there was most definately a reason it was so cheap. It took years of suffering to make our way through that case.:rotfl2:

Thanks for reading! And if nothing else, at least you can get a few ideas from us for when you will be able to take your own F&W trip.

My goodness ... barfing in the mountains... too much wine ... Not enough oxygen and too much booze. Bad combo! Sorry to hear about it, though; it sounds like you may still be suffering and need a WDW trip to erase the memories once and for all. ;)

Brenda - I have never been there either. Next time maybe, we still have small children that do not do good in a restaurant at times.

So it's not just Jay and me ... I feel better now!

Is there a small house next door that I can move into, of course there is me and the three kids but we can all fit.

Come on down - it looks like a lovely place to live, doesn't it?

Brenda I love your reviews and TR. This one had me laughing out loud more than once. You are a wonderful writer, I think you should change your profession. Tell Jay sorry to hear that he wasn't feeling all that well and what a trooper for staying as long as he did. My DH would have stayed at the hotel and not even have gone. My DH got food poisoning on our honeymoon, yes I tell you we were in Haiwaii. Not fun going to the beach by yourself, on your honeymoon, with your newly married DH barfing in the room. I feel you sista I do.

Laura

Thank you so much - I love to hear that I was able to make someone laugh. I find almost everything funny in one way or another but it's hard to get that to translate sometimes. So it's always nice to know when I've managed to be successful!

On your honeymoon? In Hawaii? Oh my, that's way worse than a puke-out at Le Cellier. Here's a belated hug for you both.

I think maybe you two need a do-over!

You know, everytime I read one of your updates, I want to paste wonderfully creative and clever responses. But when I look down, I see that there are already TWO PAGES of responses since your post. I just can't come up with anything good that late in the game. :sad2: So....um....good post.

Hi Sunny - thanks for reading! And don't put so much pressure on yourself - your posts are just as enjoyable as everyone else's. So post whatever's on your mind - it's fun!

Oh respond away!!! How do you think we all learned to let our inner wittiness out!!! (and it makes Brenda feel really good too!!!)

I have to agree with Michelle - respond away! And I guess it does make me smile to read what everyone has to say ... even if it's got nothing to do with reviews. We just have a fun, smart, funny group of readers and posters and it's always entertaining to see what people have to say. It's part of what makes this so enjoyable!

Your poor Jay!!! I feel so bad that he was sick, and that neither of you could enjoy your meal. It was nice of him to tell you to stay, but how could you? I don't think he would have, if the shoe had been on the other foot, so to speak. Hopefully you guys will luck out again next year and get all the special event ressies that you and your smoking cc can handle.

Btw I think that garden is a smashing place for a gnome colony. As long as you were the kind of gnome that comes to life and can eat their own body weight in nummies, that would be wonderful!

Thanks - he's a sweetheart, isn't he? We'll just have to keep our fingers crossed for 2009.

I don't know what kind of gnomes you're thinking of, but I was picturing more the potato-head gnome that populates the Weasley's garden in Harry Potter. I don't want to eat mummies ...

Hi Brenda!

Poor Jay! What a bummer to have to miss what looked to be such a fine food and wine pairing. I've been to Le Cellier for dinner and really enjoyed their filet with mushroom risotto (I know, I know..mushrooms!). I think you should go back for a "do-over". Immediately.

Great update!

Thanks for reading, PPZ, glad you enjoyed it! If you and I are ever at Le Cellier at the same time and mushrooms somehow end up on my plate ... feel free to come on over and liberate them!

Hey, Brenda, I read this last night, but my allergy medicine kicked in and I couldn't stay awake to reply! No really, it would have sounded very loopy!

I'm trying to respond to everyone after an entire week and I know my posts are going to be verrrrry loopy, so don't let that stop you next time! Hope you're feeling better now, by the way.

Since the dessert included ice cream I actually told them not to even bring it out since he was gone by then. Hopefully someone in the kitchen was able to eat it instead. And since I knew his stomach was the problem I didn't really think he'd want a plum tart anyway.

And it was a very nice event, so I would like to try it again some day so that we can do it justice.

I'm glad I get to say out loud how much we did enjoy LeCellier!!!

Hi there - thanks for reading and posting! Glad to hear that you had a good dinner at Le Cellier - I know it seems to get very good overall reviews around here so they must be doing something right. Your poor son and DIL ... what a bummer for them. You'll have to try to get them back to Le Cellier some time, too. :goodvibes

k...three things elicited a snort laugh...even though I have an actual documented case of influenza...I snort laughed.

:lmao: you've got some creative sparkles there!

the biggest snort came from your juse of the word "duckstick".

Poor Campbell ... the flu is no fun at all - I hope you're feeling better by now. And I'm pleased to hear that I was able to generate a trifecta of snort-laughs for you ... I only hope they weren't painful given your current delicate state of health.

I'm very glad you enjoyed the review and the blog too. Now get better and make sure your Jay is being extra nice to you right now (and I'm sure he is because that's just what Jays seem to do).

Brenda!

I have been reading reviews on the DIS far longer then posting and I have to say one of the big reasons I actually started doing any reviews was your threads. I find them clever and funny. I always have my husband come in and read your stuff and we find your likes and dislikes very helpful on your trip planning especially at F&W time.

Thank you so much - I'm glad to know that you've enjoyed reading our stuff, but I'm equally as glad to know that it's been useful. I try to "hide" helpful information inside the review without making it too dull for anyone reading just for fun.

And it's funny that you said that about likes and dislikes ... I've read your reviews and thought to myself, "She and her DH seem to enjoy a lot of the same things that Jay and I do ..." :thumbsup2

I did see you at one of the PFTS last year near the WONDERFUL WALL OF CHEESE and started to say something but thought even in my hazy wine soaked state of mind that trying to introduce myself as "Kabuki" would have been weird! So please keep up all the food wine and trip reviews for all of us who love to read!
Chelsi

I wish you'd said hello because I would have recognized your user name right away! And it would have been a hoot to actually meet you face-to-face. I probably was diving into some cheese that had the word Bliss in its name ... I wish I could remember what it was called because it was so so good. And I hope I didn't frighten you with the mad gleam I'm sure must have been in my eyes while I was piling all that cheese on my plate!

Thank you again for your very kind comments - if you guys are willing to read then I'm probably going to keep on writing this stuff because it's so much fun to share it with you all.

Poor Jay, and yes it's a good thing you were so close to the BCV! I would have left quickly after Jay too. No fun without the hubby!

I think I'd pass on this event, between the duck, shrooms and plums

Hi Deb! Thanks for reading - and to be honest, if I had known what was on the menu in advance of the pairing I might not have been as excited. Duck and plums are not foods I'm overly fond of ... and let us speak no more of the mushrooms! :lmao:

Brenda, did they have press pot coffee at the Garden View Tearoom? It's on allears menu (which is over a year old), but I don't see it on our site here. Did you happen to notice--I was thinking coffee and scones would be awfully good for an afternoon snack.

Sorry I come up with these questions weeks later--I tend to mull and think a lot about our trips!

You know... I'm not sure if they offered press pot coffee on the afternoon tea menu, but since they have the pot already I can't imagine that it would be that difficult for them to serve you coffee if that's what you want.

You can ask as many questions as you want! If I don't have an answer you know someone else here will.

Where have I been? I don't know how I missed this till now. I've been in bed with a dead back drooling over your food porn for the last few hours. Now I'm starving and the only thing I can get my hands on is a rawhide chew my puppy left in the bed for me.

Winkers has returned!! I'm happy to see you here but very sorry to know that you're having back problems - I hope you start to feel better soon. And what a sweet puppy you have ... :lovestruc

Someone slap me! How did I miss this whole thread all this time?? Subscribing, laughing, drooling, and constantly wanting a drink whilst reading. Is it too early for a little slog in my coffee?????

No need for violence - you're here now and it sounds like you're having a good time and that's all that matters! I'm always happy when a new reader turns up ... so welcome to the madhouse!

And it's never too early to add something to your coffee. I like brandy, cream, and sugar in mine. Jay prefers kahlua in his, which makes no sense to me. Why would you want coffee flavored alcohol in coffee? Isn't that just coffee flavored coffee? :confused3 He's never been able to provide an adequate answer to that one ...

Poor Jay! I bet he was bummed to have missed out. And poor you without your sweetie.

Btw, what's up with STL this morning? They called off school for that little dusting? Beware the looney drivers, the crazy dust is down.

Keep the food coming. We're living vicariously through your trip report until we can get there.

Thanks for reading - poor Jay is right. :sad1:

Ohmigawd ... Thursday morning, Thursday night, Friday morning - I guess most STL drivers were sitting on their brains during this storm. Did you hear about that 12-car pile-up at Page and Lindbergh? I had to improvise a new way to get to work ... not fun.

Hope you made it through safely. :goodvibes

Looking forward to the follow up and hearing about how Jay bounced back!

Thanks for reading - he'll start returning to sort-of-normal by the next review.

Saturday, October 20th - It's Raining...Please Bring Us Some Food!

Saturday morning was cloudy and rainy - we had hopes that it might clear the air and cool things off, but all it really did was create more humidity. After his 16-hour nap Jay was feeling better although certainly not well enough to brave the Saturday morning crowds to try eating in a restaurant somewhere. And I had a pretty rough night myself when the Crohn goblin decided to make an unexpected vist.

We knew we needed to eat something but we didn't want to go anywhere. Ah, room service ... your overpriced menu comes to the rescue once again!

Since neither one of us were confident that our digestive systems would cooperate we decided to split breakfast and ordered The Continental Breakfast - baked breakfast pastries, seasonal fruit, and juice - and Eggs Your Way - two eggs any style with breakfast potatoes, pork product and toast.

The eggs were scrambled, always a safe option, and instead of coffee we asked for a pitcher of hot water, some cream, and some teabags. We made our own coffee in the room - no need to drink swill more than once on this trip!

It probably took about 45 minutes from the time we placed our order to our hearing a discreet knock on the door that meant the food had arrived. But considering that it was prime breakfast time on a Saturday morning we thought that was pretty good service. The server brought a cart loaded down with all the necessities for a civilized breakfast in the privacy of our own infected villa.

We don't even use tablecloths at home!

Hell, most of the time we don't even use a table!!

In fact, you're lucky that we know how to use utensils!!!

We ate cautiously with no immediate adverse effects. The food was actually pretty good and the pastries were all fresh. We only ate the croissant and saved the other pastries (blueberry muffin and cherry danish) for snacking later in the week. All in all we were very pleased with our room service experience for breakfast and would consider trying it again some day when both of us actually feel well ... although we might need a second table for all the food we'd have to order in that scenario.

Since this is such a short segment I'd like to leave you with a pretty picture.

Seems like the only time I ever get roses is at WDW ...

Coming soon ... a ridiculously long series of posts that will inadequately attempt to describe the gastric joy that is Party for the Senseless!!!

So how much did room service set you back? $45? :rotfl2:

It looked very nice, but you know I can't wait to see your version of Party for the Senseless. ;)

Beats me ... we weren't even paying attention at that point. By about Day 5 of any trip to WDW Jay and I both fall into the habit of "who cares how much it costs ... we're on vacation - just charge it!" :rotfl2:

We have more than 40 pics from PFTS ... it's going to require a bit of thought on my part; I usually just sit down and let my fingers do the talking but not this time ... :upsidedow

When Shaun & I did on the honeymoon (Valentine's Day) it set us back a nice $50!

Its vacation...live it up ;)

Looks like a good breakfast.

Love the mini drive by chapter!!!:moped: (it gives me a reason to use my favorite disembodied head driving a moped emoticon!!)

That was a very nice review of your tentative attempt to eat after what was, most likely, a VERY ick night!! (Jay and I don't eat at the table either...we eat at the large coffee table thingie...but much bigger than a coffee table...in front of the television...cuz we are CLASSY like that! We DO use lovely little lady bug placemats that I got when I was Italy...so it's sorta classy...

*ahem*

I do hope all y'all were better for the rest of the trip! Did you ever come to a consensus as to what caused your sweetie's tummy to be so violent? Food poisoning? Ack I hope not!

Speaking of, just b/c I know how you enjoy my little anecdotes appearing on your food review...I went to the doctor yesterday b/c of my flu that won't go away...I was supposed to get anti virals...which seems odd to me as I've already got the dang flu but I can't go back to work until I swaller em' all...and when I went into the office the admitting nurse looked at her list, looked at me and said:

"Oh ick, you're the flu girl...don't breathe on me!" I then had to sit in isolation until it was my turn...like I was in a timeout or something.

VERY mean lady.

If SHE was a garden gnome she'd be one of the TROLL ones...with the tongue sticking out...and a big bum...

so THERE!!!

I like the rose pictures!!!
