Hunchback closing at MGM

There is a thread on the rumor board that says Hunchback's last performance is on Sept. 28. That really stinks. I like BATB but the Hunchback show is way better than the BATB show at MGM. Out of all the recent cutbacks and closings, this one really saddens me and just a month before my next trip too. :(

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!1

oh i hope its just a rumor...could it be just a rumor??

It is my favorite show. I'll miss it. Seems the whining of those wanting EE cost us the show.

It's a good show, but maybe they will replace it with something different. I guess I don't really think of it as a cutback, so much as a change.

I agree Hunchback is a far better show that BATB. For starters there is no pre-recorded music like in Beauty. And I think that the performances are of a higher caiber due to this.

Sad to see it go

Hunchback is much better than BnB. But, I can see why most first-time visitors would choose to see BnB rather than HoND. It's just a much more popular story. :( I never got to tape the whole thing.

I just don't see what it has to do with EE. I'm sure they'll replace it.

I'll be sad to see Hunchback go, too. I also thought that it was the best live show in WDW...much better than B&tB. If they really had to cut a show, they should cut Tarzan...that show is AWFUL!

   What does one have to do with the other?? They replaced EE with the character caravan, which ends on Sept 30, the day before they bring EE back.

We hadn't seen HB in a couple of years. Last year, we said "next year"...oh well. There's plenty more at WDW to keep us entertained, and it's always fun to look forward to something new. (I agree about Tarzan, skuttle.)

Mare,
who rather sweetly let Disney know EE was sorely missed on her last trip ;) :teeth:

Although it was said that CC replaced EE it was truly a concession to the characters union.

EE has an effect on the parks budget. By closing a show, such as HB or Tarzan (which I heard was closing on another post) you affect the bottom line of the park budget also.

It looks like Hunchback is being replaced with a youngsters kiddie character meet at that theater. I thought Hunchback was the BEST production by far in all of WDW! They are also doing away with Tarzan at AK, and I thought that one was kind of lame anyway. The ending date for Hunchback is next month and EE comes back at the same time. I used to like EE, but it effects the crowds so drastically at the EE park each day, that I loved the effect on the crowds when it ended!

What?? Say it isn't so!!?!?! I LOVE HB and Tarzan is one of my favorites! They're closing both of them? :( :( :( DH is going to be sooooooooooooo disappointed that they're closing Tarzan if that's true, too. It's his favorite :(

I won't miss Hunchback. While I liked the show, you can only see it so many times. The juggler before the show never changed his show either.

Tarzan was OK, but I am not going to miss it either.

You can only see the same show so many times. We haven't been to any of the shows in a while. I just hope they replace it with something good, and not cheap!

I am saddened by this, because we missed it last year, and it was going to be a must see next year. OH well....

I'm also going to miss Hunchback. I thought it was an excellent show and preferred it to Beauty and the Beast.

As I said in another thread, HB was my favorite show in WDW. I am sadded to see it go, and I am glad that we never missed an opportunity to see it. Festival of the Lion King is a close second - but I feel like that is comparing apples to oranges.
I don't know that I ever realized that the music for HB was live. I do tend to be clueless about such things. Where was the orchestra placed in relationship to the stage?

The joke in our family is "How many rolls of film can Mom use on the Hunchback show?" Answer in unison: "ALL OF THEM!!" LOL!

I wonder if they'll make it into a Broadway production? I sure hope so!!

UGH!!! That's exactly what I hoped WOULDN'T happen! Although I LOVE HB, I can't really complain since I've only attended it 5-6 times. But, I would hope that they would replace it with something better or at least equally fantastic. The cheap character greeting areas are getting to be a bit much.

That's what I thought about it the first time I saw it -- that I would definitely pay to see it on the big stage, and that there was no way they were paying that Esmeralda enough -- she should have been on Broadway!

I don't think the story is popular enough, though :(
