A couple of weeks ago I bought a beautiful glass hummingbird feeder for $19.00. The problem? It leaks!!!! It doesn't immediately start leaking when I hang it up. But it seems like every day it's up the more nectar leaks out. I checked and there's no cracks. I read online that it's common for hummingbird feeders to leak, but this one seems to be doing it too much. Is there a special kind of sealing tape I can get? Any other suggestions? I have four hummingbird feeders, and two of them are from the dollar store. And you know what? Those are the ones that rarely leak. Sigh.......

I have this page bookmarked: http://birding.about.com/od/Hummingbirds/fl/Stop-Hummingbird-Feeder-Leaks.htm. I have a hummingbird feeder as well and it started leaking too much last summer. I followed the tips that are outlined on the website and haven't seen anything aside from a small nectar drop here and there since.

Never had one leak. I would take it back.

I thought this was going to be about ants. They do make an ant trap to put on your feeder.

I had the same issue with one I got from walmart.... I returned it- glass bottle was pretty but the bottom was plastic and leaked.... I bought a simple solid plastic design at a garden store-it works great- for 17.00- just basically a saucer with a red feeding top, easy to clean and fill- my only question now is,who is emptying it every other day? I assume it has to be hummers since there is no spilling or anything, but they are visiting when no one is around.... can't be evaporation b/c of the lid, it has an ant moat.... I've seen the little guys buzz by but they don't feed when I'm outside....

The best hummingbird feeder I've ever had, and I've gone through lots, is a cheapy small plastic one from Walmart. It leaks, too, but I only put in about 3/4" of solution for them each morning, as it ferments if left too long. We stuck with this one after I had hung a few together and the birds kept going to the smaller one.

We have multiple birds coming to it all day long. I have it hanging off a hook outside a living room window so we can watch them any time they come for a drink.
